  1. Close enough that I think it was the right call & it was targeting. Refs have to call that on the field. They don't have the benefit of replays slowing it down.
  2. Have you blown out your knee or shoulder? If you haven't, then it's no wonder it makes no sense to you. Lisfrancs fracture of the midfoot injury.
  3. Unless you've suffered a serious injury, you have no way of knowing how Streveler will react to contact on hi lower body, specifically his knee. You can cage that dog. I know from personal experience of what I say. We'll see how he handles it. Just let him throw the ball like every other qb does.
  4. If you pause the video at the time of the hit you can see it's helmet to helmet. The Lions get called for rough play & they celebrate a head shot on X.
  5. I don't know what game you saw last night but that was or nearly was a helmet to helmet hit. If the DB did use his shoulder it was right at or near the head. Rough play was the right call. In this era of football, that's called every time.
  6. Foucault is just so bad. His passport keeps him employed in the CFL.
  7. Where's the great Sukh Chungh? Gittens could have signed with us. Or stayed in Toronto. he'll be lucky to break 500 yards in Edmonton. Even with a game breaker I doubt it would make much of a difference. With Ford in there running wild & improvising that whole offense is a cluster****.
  8. The Lions DB targeted the head of the Elks receiver with his helmet. Both lost their helmets. This isn't 1980 anymore. Players need to be protected. Good call.
  9. If I was an Elks fan, having Ford as the starter would drive me nuts. His play at qb is all over the place. There's no consistency, rhyme or reason to how he plays qb. Ford makes an outstanding play that takes 18 seconds to run as he makes chicken salad out of chicken feathers. But for every 1 big play he makes, he makes 5 lousy ones. Just watching him, it's all based on athletic ability & not on football smarts. I think by mid season, he'll be sitting again & Fajardo the starter with the Elks at 1-8 or 2-7. Ford won't have any receivers left by season's end.
  10. I've never seen Brown take off & run downfield. Or use his legs to get a first down. At best, he can avoid the first couple of tacklers that break thru the LOS & then gets sacked.
  11. I like to think that I know a litle bit about quarterbacking as I followed my son's progress all the way from pee wee to high school in Calgary to Junior with the Rifles to JUCO in Northern California to D2 SFU. I also follow about a dozen qb coaches on Instagram, including my son & see what they're teaching youngsters today. I really, really really like the skill set & toolbox Davis Alexander has. He has everything he needs to be a breakout star in this league. (If his Left Tackle doesn't kill him first). Is Dru Brown #2 or 3 on the list of great young qbs coming up? It's between him & Rourke & time will tell. Rourke is bigger & stronger than Brown & can run if he has to. That's Brown's weakness. He can't scramble & run. Or at least he hasn't shown that he can.
  12. We were talking about Dru Brown's Thursday night performance yesterday before the Als game. Compared to Davis Alexander, you can see Brown's deficiencies as a qb. Even healthy, he can't run. He also has a hard time avoiding the rush from the pocket. Yeah, he's accurate for sure & made some nice throws but he just seems to be missing something. Like the Big Play when the RedBlacks need it. Brown put up huge numbers inside the 20's but when he had to score to win, he couldn't. Alexander meanwhile is athletic, something Brown doesn't seem to be. I remember that one play when Alexander was flushed out of the pocket & took off with the ball & showed great speed to pick up the first down. Just a terrific play.
  13. He'd be hired as a STC somewhere in the CFL. He'd land on his feet.
  14. Lots of nice guy head coaches get fired. He's Canadian with experience & is a competent STC so even if he's fired he'd get on a staff somewhere.
  15. Do we need a dedicated social thread now?? Funny how HCB mentions the food & farts but not women. As my Ukrainian uncle used to say with a thick accent... "If I tell you no stories, I tell you no lies."
  16. Learn quickly? Dyce has had all kinds of time. He's a STC not a HC. What's going to save him is he's in the first year of probably a 3 year deal. Why they reupped him is a good question.
  17. NHL players must prefer guys. One of the best young qbs to come into the league. His OL almost took him out by blocking his man into his knee. Dumb OL.
  18. Not a word. He was fired.
  19. What good is a qb throwing all over the place & 500 yards offense if they lose? I guess the consolation is the offeensse looked good burning to the ground. Brown threw all over the field. really didn't test the Rider defense on deep routes much. Basically Drew threw 3 touchdown passes but when he had to score late in the game he couldn't. JBR raves about his arm. I don't see it. He threw a lot of underneath & mid range passes. His accuracy was top notch but it wasn't good enough. He can't run to save his lif even when he's healthy. There seems to be no fire with Brown. Just a guy chillin' all the time. Guys in the huddle need to believe that he'll do whatever it takes to win. That was Jake Maier's problem. He inspires no one. The RedBlacks offense is Calgary 2.0. Brown will continue to put up big numbers but how many games will Ottawa win with that defense??
  20. Fletcher would be a natural for the Stamps offense.
  21. I don't mind Wilson either. If he's on the sidelines then who did he replace?
  22. Well, tonight not a mention of Dunigan which to means he was fired. If he retired, they'd have been praising his playing & broadcast career. No mention, like he didn't exist the past 25 years tells me he was fired. Matty drinking on air? What??? When?
  23. He has a long term deal as well. Signed in the off season.
  24. My guy Stevens scored.
