  1. Look at other HOF qbs from the 50's & 60's with their completion averages, interceptions & TD passes. Especially Ron Lancaster. His nimbers weren't great yet he made it.
  2. So, that meant Allen was better than the guys younger than him at qb. They couldn't beat him out. As an older veteran Allen competed against & beat defensive players a decade younger or more than him. This longevity excuse is BS. I've heard it said when he still played & never bought in. Allen played as there was no one better. No head coach is going to play someone who can't get the job done. He played because he won. What is a "middling passer"?
  3. I wouldn't want to be in the same room with this woman when someone tells her Colonel Sanders died 43 years ago.
  4. This may be the best place for this discussion as we've all talked about the hard head of Mikr O'Shea in the past with some of the decision making he's made especially after losing the Grey Cup again. I watched the Cowboys - Lions game last night. Detroit Lions HC Dan Campbell went for the two point convert to win the game three times rather than kick the convert to tie & go into overtime. Anyone see a lot of Mike O'Shea in Dan Campbell? Just the stubborness of the guy. To go for it 3 straight times & fail. That is exactly something our Head Coach would do. And then bristle & sneer when questioned or criticized after we lost.
  5. Sure he can but Allen knew more about the game in general than Ford does now at the same time in their careers. Ford needs quality coaching from Jarious Jackson to catch up.
  6. Allen, Dunigan & Ham were the qbs in Edmonton in 1987. Imagine that? IIRC, Dunigan started the 87 Grey Cup & went out with an injury late in the first half. Allen came off the bench & beat the heavily favoured Argos that day. The Esks let Dunigan go to free agency & Allen took over. He never looked back as a starter. Some fans say that he was a **** qb his entire career when he wasn't. Do you know how hard it is to win 4 Grey Cups on 4 different teams? Four different head coaches, Four different OC's. Four different playbooks. Four different sets of teammates. Four different sets of talent. Four different cultures on every team. Second in all time CFL passing yards at 72,381 yards & 394 touchdown passes. He also rushed for 11,914 yards.
  7. No idea why fans like Noeller always put down what Allen did as a qb in the CFL. Second all time leading passer in CFL history behind Anthony Calvillo. Four time Grey Cup champion with 3 different teams. Played 22 years at a high level. He did what he was paid to do. Win. And win he did. Tre Ford would be lucky to have a career where he wins a single Grey Cup. Forget about 4. Allen went 22-2 as a high school starting qb in Los Angeles& signed with Cal State Fullerton. Ford was recruited by a number of U Sports football teams but only Waterloo said he would play qb so he signed with them. So, there were questions about his ability as a qb going back to HS. Meanwhile, Allen was one of the top high school qbs in the State of California. Why do I mention that? Noeller just said if Allen can be something then Ford could as well. Right now, there's really no comparison between the passing ability of Ford compared to Allen. What I see from Ford is what I've seen from every running qb who has ever come up to the CFL. A run first mentality. If a couple of receivers are covered he takes off. He doesn't have the time (or perhaps the patience) to go thru his reads because his OL is bad. So, it's not all his fault. However, a problem OL will hinder his development as a qb. Now, Ford may develop into a first rate CFL qb eventually but we'll see. He has a long way to go. He could do well being coached by Buck or Jordan Maksymic. But we all saw how bad Derek McAdoo was. It's not just coaching. It's also the quality of coaching as well. I just don't know if a HC like Chris Jones has the patience to wait.
  8. I love Oliveira but if we lose Schoen because we spent money on Oliveira then as a fan I'll be pissed right off.
  9. I watched a CFL game from late August on TSN the week. It was the week before LD. Elks vs RedBlacks. Ford can run but he can't throw. He still had 250 yards passing because the RedBlacks secondary is just terrible. Receivers were WIIIIIDE OPEN all over the place. Watching the RedBlacks play is just torture. I can't get over how bad that team is. How the hell did we ever lose to that garbage team??
  10. I grew up in that era when Elizabeth was only 10-20 years into her reign. I remember all those British PM's from Churchill on. It's amazing as a constitutional monarch only how some feared her when they came for their weekly visits. You can really see how much Charles was totally ****** up when he was growing up with that family around him. Especially a jealous Phillip who was bitter over how he felt he lost Mountbatten as a father figure to Charles. I've tried to watch Letterkenny & I have to say after repeated attempts, I just don't get it.
  11. Tom was always the straight man to his brother ****. I was just a 12 & 13 year old when the Smothers Brothers Comedy Show was on tv. So, a lot of the jokes went over my head but I got it all later. It became an anti war show with a clear message the US needed to withdraw from Viet Nam. How it lasted three years on network tv in the US is amazing. There wasn't a lot of comedy other than Pat Paulsen who was legit funny but even he became political as he ran for President in 1968. Although it was a pantomine as it was part of the show, he still got 200,000 write in votes. .
  12. MBT does like to argue with his teammates on the sidelines.
  13. It's taken me years to craft my talent.
  14. The Rookie; Feds was thankfully cancelled.
  15. I don't agree. Schoen is the priority to me as we pass so much. We can allow Brady to go elsewhere, flip the RB position to an American along with a backup for cheaper than what we're paying Brady now. That allows us more flexibility re: the salary cap.
  16. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, Wanna-B-Fanboy.
  17. It would be such a Jones move to sign MBT & move Ford to slot.
  18. That's how Nick Arbuckle thought. Now he's nothing. His CFL career is on his last legs. If he signs in Ottawa, it'll be painful to watch. Exactly. It goes back further with Barrett, Flutie (Huff was his mentor & taught him the Canadian game), Garcia, Dickenson then Burris...
  19. They don't have to make a decision on Cornelius until January 15th.
  20. If you were Dru brown, would you sign with Ottawa knowing the history of that team as well as bad management & coaching? If I was Brown, I'd be hesitant if they offered me the most money to play for a tire fire of an organization like that. I truly hope he uses common sense to know that money might buy him more problems than he really needs. Brown reminds me of Nick Arbuckle. Small body of work. Thought he should be a starter. Has been bouncing around since. He'll probably bounce his way out of the CFL now the way he's played.
  21. We're talking about an organization that has won 4 Grey Cups.
  22. MBT is out there as well. That complicates things for Brown.
  23. And the problem is, coaching. The Stamps can't develop qbs anymore because they don't have the expertise to do it. There are no young John Hufnagels or Dave Dickensons waiting in the wings. Canadian teams are cheaping out by hiring more & more Canadian coaches who just don't have the knowledge to develop young qbs, Does anyone really think Mark Mueller can do it with the Riders?
  24. Well, sounds great in theory but in reality it ain't happening. They're not goin g to give up on Maier after just one season. They'll fire assistant coaches before they do that.
