I was a big April Wine fan. This is such a huge loss. The guy was a Canadian Icon. Whenever we talk about the 70's rock music, April Wine was front & center. Myles Goodwin had such a distinct voice. Rest in Peace., Myles Goodwyn.

Ritchie needs to go.

Call it what you want … you need to move on from Collaros

We didn't lose the game because we were too old. -

Defensive schemes did us in not age. -
The guy is a pro qb. Fajardo beat us. Get used to it. He also gets paid to win. Some of us here sound like whiners.

Interesting as I saw it differently. I saw a guy who played well when things were going well & a guy who could quickly lose his confidence when things went bad. If he plays smart then it doesn't matter if he has a strong arm or not.
-
Sure, as he had an arm where he legit could throw 70-75 yards downfield. A lot of those overthrows were receivers not believing he could get the ball to them so they quit on a route. Those guys usually didn't last too long. He had a Canadian wide receiver that was awful named Brock Aynsley. He couldn't catch a cold. On the other side MIke Holmes who was a very good wideout but subject to the dropsies at times. Tommy Scott & Joe Pop caught everything although they never played together. Once he stopped throwing on the run doing rollouts & started throwing from the pocket where he could set his feet & throw his accuracy improved not just for the long ball but for everything. Jauch taught him to read defenses. So did jauch's OC Jim Erkenbeck. He helped Brock develop as well. He doesn't get the credit he deserves. They must have spent hours & hours watching film together.

That's on our DC for playing the defense he does. And on our HC for his roster decisions. No one will be held accountable, though. I'd really like to see Ritchie ride off into the sunset & promote Jordan Younger to DC.

Fajardo sure played well thaat one day. This may & I say with a bit of trepidation as I know some will laugh in disbelief that it may be a turning point in his career. Maybe he finally gets the inner confidence & takes the next step up. Or he doesn't. Time will tell.

Six years later I finally answer this question. Yes, I sure do remember. Jauch certainly resurrecred Wilkie's career. The Argos cut Wilkie prior to the 1971 season & he was picked up by the Lions. Eagle Keys didn't like him & cut him again after a few games. He signed with the Esks for the 1972 season almost as an afterthought & he had a chance to work with Jauch who turned him into the best QB in the CFL. That is, until Warren Moon came along. When Jauch came here in 1978, he turned Brock into a pocket passer from a sprint out qb who just saw half the field into a qb who saw everything. It sure helped that we had the best OL in the CFL at the time. Brock had a cannon for an arm with deadly accuracy. It was an amazing transformation.

Brock might have been shipped out if Knight had stayed healthy. That's an amazing thing to ponder seeing as the number Dieter put up in his career. Richard Crump was there as well. We played Crump, Washington & Beaird in the same backfield at times from 1976-78. Usually, it was Beaird & Washington. Crump would later play for Calgary & Ottawa.

I'm alwasy amazed at the hate people have for Fajardo. He did kill us. That last drive drove a spike through all of our hearts.

The problem is that bringing in a qb after an injury to the starter means they have to learn the offense & get the timing down with his receivers. We got lucky with Zach in 2019. He was a quick study. Like anything else, a person'e learning curve & how fast a qb picks everthing up is always different. Some people learn faster than others. Some never learn. Meanwhile the season marches on & a playoff berth may be at stake.
-
Just remember that every dollar you spend bringing back Bighill is one less dollar to spend on Schoen & Oliviera. So, for me, I don't like the idea.
-
Reduced role means we have to sign a starting MLB to take his place which costs money. Bighill wouldn't be re-signed to a reduced role. He'd go elsewhere.

Evans threw for 829 yards, threw 4 TDs & 6 Ints & had a 68.9% completion average with a QBR of 81.7. Schilz played in 11 games & threw for 1,556 yards. He tossed 7 TD passes & 5 interceptions. Schilz had a 67.1% completion average with a QBR of 99.8. The wildcard here is Dane Evans state of mind. He's fragile & goes to pieces when the going gets tough. He also demoted himself last season to sit on the bench in BC. He was no challenge to Vernon Adams. How many starting qbs would say to a team, "Please sit me. I'll take a major pay cut & be happy to sit on the bench." That's no leader. Why would any head coach want a qb like Evans with so many question marks as a player? Schilz was playing well before he got hurt. He came back & struggled which happens a lot after an injury. Any momentum he had as a qb was lost. He's the better qb of the two from what I've seen. I'd rather have him backing up Zach than Evans.

Zach was 32 & close to 33 when Brown got here. Now, he'll be 35 this season. Those 3 years are huge. if we let Brown go & don't sign someone who is capable of helping us win if Zach goes down then we as an organization deserve everything bad that happens. It'll be a bad move & at some point we'll pay dearly for that decision. Some of the back ups in this league are dogs.

More serious? Sleeping with a teammate's mother?? If that were true & players were packing that player who did that would be dead.
-
So, you'd prefer a 22 year old rookie with no experience to a veteran backing up a 35 year old Zach Collaros with a running qb like Prukop for short yardage? Yeah, good luck with that scenario if Collaros goes down. Our season would be ******. You'd be crying the blues when we go out one & done in the playoffs. If we even make the playoffs.
