Matt Lauer/Greg Zaun - when will this end??
SpeedFlex27 replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in General Discussion
This will filter down to mainstream society. If you're not concerned about this then I submit that you & others just like to see the headlines. Seeing celebrities go down. Nothing to do with justice but enjoying the proceedings. Kind of like a crowd at a disaster taking it all in. -
CFL Schedule Change a Bad Idea
SpeedFlex27 replied to Brendan McGuire's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You'd have the SC playoffs conflict at the beginning of the season as well as the start of the NHL season & World Series at the end. The CFL would be buried. Dumb idea. -

Agree with the article. Leave the schedule alone. -
Glen Johnson retires. Good riddance.

Matt Lauer/Greg Zaun - when will this end??

I'm talking everyday. Joe Average. What's to stop a spurned lover from bringing up false charges? Or claim a consensual occurrence wasn't consensual. Maybe someone from our past will claim one of us here did something inappropriate years ago. That's why I want to see charges before anyone is judged here. Prove the guilt in court. If proven, then throw their ass in jail. -

How can you name people as most would be strangers? My friend in Winnipeg went thru a nasty divorce in the late 80's with their daughter involved. He had visitation rights afterwards but the ex wife always tried to get out of it. One time, she accused him of sexual assault on his daughter because she claimed the girl had a bruise on her inner thy. Had the cops & lawyers involved. No charges were ever laid but he told me she would phone him at work randomly accusing him of all kinds of nasty things from week to week. She was married twice & didn't have to work with the support payments from 2 former husbands. He put his ex wife thru university, supported her financially but as soon as she graduated she bolted demanding a divorce. The guy went to pieces emotionally for being treated like garbage foe years & she polluted his daughters mind so badly that he now has no relationship with his daughter at all. He spiralled down from an IT tech thru different jobs. Now, he works part time at Safeway. The guy had a nervous breakdown & is a mess. The guy was brilliant as an IT tech & now he's just a shell of his former self. He's in his 60's. So, are lives destroyed? Yes, very much so from wingnuts like that. Name me all the people charged with DUI in Manitoba the past 5 years? They at least got their day in court. The only court I see here when it comes to sexual assault is the MBB Court of Public Opinion & the verdict is guilty. -
I don't think I've been too naughty & trying to be nice...

"Doing something" would have been firing Hall after the season ended. That would have meant Walters & O'Shea would have been proactive. They'd be forced to find a replacement. I think they actually can't decide whether to keep or fire Hall.

Blue Bombers and 680 CJOB Announce Partnership Extension
SpeedFlex27 replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
How long will Bob want to keep doing pbp? That's the question... I remember back in the 80's I hearing a story that the NY Giants wanted to bring him in as their pbp radio announcer & he turned them down. Small town boy from Regina liked the Winnipeg lifestyle & didn't want to live in New York. -
There was talent on defense. So much so that we never should have been hemmoraging thru the air & on the ground the way we did last season. Never should have started Hurl. Never should have substituted the way we did. This disaster of a defense is all on Hall & yet here we sit a full month after the season ended & doing nothing while other teams make changes. Other teams have made coaching moves yet typically we still sit. The one big criticism I have of Walters & O'Shea is just how slowly they react to changes. If they can't figure it out by now then something is wrong.

Just me but when myself or a family member has to fly I don't watch Mayday for a couple of weeks before. #superstitious

Political opportunism. -
Really SPuDS? C'mon Man. We were run to death. We gave up yards on the ground & in the air with a MLB who did a great job just diving into the DL. MOS said he did a great job being a plugger. If he made a tackle it's because the opposition running back ran right into him as he happened to be there at the time.

Early bird gets the worm. Other teams are reactive. With us, it's a process.

Hit turbulence in 2006 on an AC flight from Toronto to Orlando. We had flown in from Calgary. It was Spring Break & our family was flying to Disney World for a week. We were 4.5 hours late leaving Toronto at 11:45 pm or some ridiculous time. There were many delays & the plane was icing up. I just remember we left Toronto at the time we were supposed to arrive in Orlando. We encountered turbulence almost from the time we left Toronto as we had to fly thru a freezing rain/rain, thunder/lightning/snow/blizzard in Toronto & the hit thunderstorms halfway to Orlando. The turbulence was Star Trek like. The worst I ever experienced & it never really let up until we were flying over Jacksonville. At first the turbulence was scary. After awhile it becomes a nuisance & you're just resigned to having to go through it. Finally, I just got angry & kept saying to myself, "Is that all you got??? BRING IT!!!" as we got tossed around in the sky. Got to Orlando something like 4:30 am & drove to the hotel. Just to make it even better, when we left the airport with our rental, we turned the wrong way out of the airport on the highway & had to go many klms before we could turn around. Got to our hotel about 6:30 am. The night clerk just looked at us all exhausted & said, "Oh, you actually made it!!" We slept till about 1 pm & then went out. Oh & one last thing. Did I mention that AC wouldn't let us leave the plane at all once we boarded? Nope stuck on that stifling aircraft for hours not allowed to leave. What a flight from Hell.

Flew back from Portland, OR direct to Calgary on Air Canada last Sunday evening. It was a Bombardier commercial prop that maybe held around 100 passengers. Full to the brim & cramped. Packed like sardines in this little frigging plane. as far as carry on luggage anything bigger than a back pack won't fit in the overhead luggage containers. You could tell everyone hated it from all the snide remarks that were being said just loud enough so the flight attendants could hear. Not that they could have done anything. I've flown AC from YYC to & from Portland a number of times & I hate it more & more each time. I'd much prefer West Jet but they only have seasonal flights to Portland. It was off season. WJ does the same thing to San Francisco. Just seasonal flights from April to November. Whenever I flew WJ to SFO from YYC the jet was always full. Don't know why they can't fly year round into both places.

How long did it take for the Bombers to find a legit starting qb after Glenn left town? Just a qb away is a tall order. No one is upset about Claybrooks taking the Als head coaching job if he does. He's only been coaching since 2012 & a DC since 2016. Not a lot of experience coaching wise. He's coordinated a defense loaded with talent the past 2 years & he has a really good GM in Hufnagel. The Stamps scouting staff has done a great job to find him defensive players. The Stamps offense takes a ton of pressure off his defensive unit to win games. Montreal is nothing at all like the Stampeders. The Als have no legit starting qb, a sketchy offensive line, an older receiving corps with no real deep threat, average running game & a defense that has looked lost since Noel Thorpe was fired. The team is a mess plus he'd be working for a guy who has never shown he was a competent position coach, coordinator, HC or GM. I also get the impression that Kavis Reed would never have his back in a crisis & wants a Yes Man in place. So, hiring an inexperienced HC would be cheaper, easier & Reed wouldn't be challenged like he might be if he hired someone with coaching experience.

I was one of the original crew who worked at Bonanza on Pembina Hwy back in October 1973 when it opened as Winnipeg's first steakhouse. I was in Grade 11 when hired for $1.90 an hour.

Agree about Adams. He showed last season that he can make big plays downfield. Wish he could stay healthy. I'm hopeful we sign a couple of CFL experienced receivers who can make plays.
