Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
SpeedFlex27 replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Any coach would be brilliant with Matt Dunigan as his qb. And a dunce with Michael Bishop as his qb. Kelly's problem was 2 fold. One, he wanted to run an 80's style offense with a 2 back offense which meant one less slot. In a pass happy league like the CFL that hampered what we could do throwing the ball. Two, he was horrible as a person here. Not just as a coach. He was mean spirited, angry, untrustworthy & stubborn. The media loved Kellywhen he was here in 1993 & I think they welcomed him back but he sure turned that goodwill into a negative fast. -
I miss Grumpy. Where did he go? Being a mod on Our Bombers after the exodus must've have been too much for him.

Is it known which Western team tried to grab Spooner off PR??

Don't get him motivated... Another thread asking for our opinion yet never stating his... -
Now I could be wrong but wasn't Walters an assistant coach when Mack made that scintillating pick?
-
Briefly with the Riders until they cut him. Such was the brilliance of Joe Mack.
-
No, don't bring him back. Truth is, had Etienne been drafted in the 4th round instead of the first he may have been allowed to develop as a player under the radar instead of under the microscope of a first round pick of which he truly wasn't. Physically & mentally, Etienne just wasn't ready to be selected that high. That decision was on Joe Mack who for all intents & purposes not only threw away a first round pick but Etienne's career in the long run. Then there was Tyson Pencer...

They're mimicking Kermit The Frog. Not a French Canadian ref who has a thick accent. Why else would they use Kermit? Anyway it sucks as it really isn't funny.
-
Cough, cough. That's the point. Frog. French Canadian referee. That's why this is so bad.
-
He wants Milt's gig. You just know it...

Walters still picked them. He didn't make many mistakes. You seriously can't still be sticking up for Mack, can you?

North Korea says it is considering bombing Guam with missiles. The Chinese need to take the nutty little midget dictator with the bad hair out. (The North Korean one, not Trump).

Eddie Olczyk diagnosed with cancer
SpeedFlex27 replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Ed loved playing in Winnipeg. One of the good guys. Hope he kicks cancer's ass!! My thoughts & prayers are with him & his family. -
Ever see the video where Jim Rome kept calling former Rams qb Jim Everett, Chrissy? And he came on Rome's tv talk show to kick his ass? Hillarious as he did just that. Of course, Rome is all of 175 lbs soaking wet.

Let's hope Wolitarski can show us he's the second coming of Joe Pop. No, just kidding. I wouldn't want to put that kind of pressure on him. Would like to see him get onto the roster & contribute on ST's this season.
-
Still early in his career. Holding out just makes this situation worse in Rider fans eyes.

Whatever. It's always tragic when anyone loses a life, especially someone who is 25. But why does Richards have to bear that cross? Totally unfair to even bring this into the conversation. My friend died in a car crash when she was 19. I still get sad thinking about her lost potential & the fact she would never get to experience her wedding day, having children & getting old with her hubby. My parents & sister have all passed away. Should I bring them into this conversation & say Hey Addison, you have no idea what life is about? I'm glad he hasn't experienced the pain of a loss like those because it's terrible. Then again, maybe he has. Your example is totally inappropriate & taking this to the nth degree.

Ah, don't worry about it. You defended him a lot when guys like me criticized him. You're a passionate fan.
-
Mack wouldn't listen to him from what I understand. Must've been frustrating working under a guy like that.
-
You just don't get it. Comparing losing football to someone dying from cancer? C'mon man.... The kid is 23. He's not 60. Like I said don't be a .... .
-
I will. PM me with your name & cell #. We usually come in Sat afternoon driving from Calgary & leave Sun morning. Would you like to go to a game???
-
The guy is 23. Just because you never played at the CFL level & had to make that choice like that. He's young & football is all he knows. Don't be such a ****.

It isn't funny. It is hard to walk away from a game you played at least for half of your life if not more. My son suffered a torn hamstring while doing off season conditioning going into his senior season at SFU in May of 2015. Torn Hammys are a bugger of an injury & take forever to heal. When fall camp opened in August of 2015 he didn't take part in a lot of the drills & scrimmages as he just couldn't. It cost him the starting qb spot & his senior season turned into a miserable experience. He really couldn't play effectively until October & even then his mobility wasn't what it used to be. he liked to tuck the ball & run for positive yards or move around & evade the rush but he turned into a sitting duck at times so his playing time was limited. He was hoping to get a chance to play qb or receiver in the CFL but was never drafted. He did attend the Edmonton CFL combine & threw the ball well & had a 34 inch vertical. But his shuttle speeds were average & he ran a disappointing 5.2 forty when he used to be a consistent 4.6 or 4.7. He had a free agent workout with the BC Lions in may of 2016 a full year after the hamstring injury but ran a 5.0 forty. He said he could have run faster but he felt a twinge in the hamstring & was worried he's blow it out again so he coasted during the timing. He was never offered a training camp contract so he never played again. Injuries made the decision for him but it was still hard as he played football since he was 8 years old. It was his life. However, he was lucky as he got an offer to join the Westshore Rebels of the BCFC in the CJFL coaching qbs last year. He was lucky & is now the QB Coach & Passing Coord with the Okanagan Sun & loving it. He's still a part of the game & is now totally happy with coaching & not playing. But when a player has to leave because of personal or injury issues at a young age, it's tough.

Not really as we didn't learn from Jade Etienne. Richards should have been released this past off season. He could have made a deal with another CFL club instead of sticking around here for a year too long. Then he'd have been another team's problem. The Bombers didn't so it's on Walters & O' Shea for not doing anything. As far as Mike's comments on twitter goes, he is right. Certainly he isn't wrong. When Richards was collecting a paycheque he was willing to stick around. When he was demoted to the PR with the pay cut that goes with it, suddenly it's time to retire. Mike wasn't wrong in what he tweeted & Richards should have realized that is how fans would see it. Like I said, considering our draft record, I'm willing to cut everyone associated with Richards a break as they're right a lot more than they're wrong.
