  1. Fajardo can't do that all game without throwing interceptions. Bombers have to shore up the run defense.
  2. Not a great defensive series. We just gave momentum back to the Als on 2 plays.
  3. So far, things aren't going the Als way. Unlike last week.
  4. Stubblefield with the twist on Demski's legs on the tackle.
  5. I feel inadequate as my TV is 50 inches.
  6. My point was a genuine concern for her health. She's a young woman massively overweight. She's young enough still that she may or may not have a lot of health issues like diabetes, high BP, cholesterol, arthritis, etc, But give her 10 years if she doesn't do anything. I remmeber Mama Cass Elliott who barely made it into her 30's when she died of a massive heart attack. I don't care what she looked like. She had a great voice.
  7. That singer better lose a hundred lbs or she'll never see 50.
  8. How effective will they be? Especially Bighill.
  9. Milt just got honoured being inducted into the Manitobs Sports Hall of Fame last week, too.
  10. I'll be glad when Shawn lemon retires. What a hype machine TSN is. They pick their winners & losers.
  11. When you play in a high school stadium with empty seats what do you expect, eh?
  12. Why can't we wear our regular home uniforms? They have one of the nicest looks in all of pro football & now it's our fourth GC we have never worn them??
  13. I think Jim Van Pelt should be on the Wall of Fame myself even though his career was short. The man is virtually forgotten yet he eas an important piece of the puzzle when he did play. VP was as good as you describe. I wonder how Ploen felt knowing the Bombers wanted VP back & were wining & dining him as he played in the 62 Grey Cup? Ploen couldn't have been happy considering how well he played since VP left. It was his team now & not Jim van Pelt's. I wonder if there would have been locker room issues between the 2 had VP come back for the 63 season?
  14. The suspense is killing me!! This afternoon is just dragging along...
  15. Ya think TSN wants Montreal to win?? I stopped watching.
  16. You guys are probably way too young to remember Tom Snyder who was the host of the Tomorrow Show on NBC back in the mid 70's. I was a student at the U of M & I found that show fascinating. Snyder would come on right after the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He was an amazing interviewer. He could ask the tough questions (& he constantly did) & he was engaging & funny. He could put his guests at ease with a smile & a joke. His interview with John Lennon is something I'll always remember.
  17. Johnny, as you know, your Great Uncle (my old neighbour growing up in Riverview) had a huge role in me becoming a Bomber & CFL fan. All his wonderful stories about the Bombers & CFL in the 1930's into the 60's were marvellous & had me spellbound. We used to talk whenever we saw one another in & around 1967-72 when I was a teen. He'd stop whatever he was doing to discuss football with me whenever we saw each other. He loved to talk about Fritzie Hansen & Russ Rebholz. He used to talk about characters like Head Coach Allie Sherman & Jack Jacobs. And a score of other players right thru the Bud Grant era. I don't think that I'd be the fan I am today without him. I'll be having a toast to the memory of "Mr. McGibney" today. Thing is, I never knew his first name. We were all taught to call adults "Mr", "Mrs" or "Miss", so I never asked. What was his first name?
  18. Well, 2;45 am on Sunday & no one has started the Grey Cup Game Day Thread so it might as well be me. Let's Go Bombers. Lucky #13. Feeling a tad nervous about later today but I think we'll come through. I don't want to even make Cody Fajardo jokes as we all know this is a winner takes all one game championship so anything (good or bad) can happen. We all saw what happened last week & what occurred in 2001 so we'll have to play our best. If we play our game, we'll win. Not be overconfident or cocky. We're the better team so just take care of business & then we'll be Grey Cup champions.
  19. Yeah, I had cropped it to get rid of the ugly brown borders as well as enlarged it so it could be read but it wouldn't upload here. If van pelt had stayed healthy & not have been drafted then we'd have been talking about Ken Ploen as an all time cornerback rather than a qb. Things happen for a reason, I guess. Yet, he's virtually forgotten today.
  20. I don't think he's the "Shock Jock" he used to be.
  21. I found a story on van pelt in Weekend Magazine rom 1959 with a great action photo. We had a brief discusssion about Jim earlier in the week. I thought this would help the younger posters here who may have never heard of him to be more knowledgeable. But the photo wouldn't load & it was part of the story so, c'est la vie.
