  1. If I was Steinhauer, I'd show BLM the door along with Schilz & sign a healthy MBT & keep the kid Taylor Powell as backup. Sign a young qb to learn behind them. Bo should be in broadcasting with TSN like LaPo is & hopefully stays. I was watching LaPo today on TSN's coverage of events leading up to tomorrow's game. He's relaxed & engaged. Knows his stuff. He's better than some of the panelists. LaPo has become a star & if TSN wants to keep him then they better pay him. He looks excited to be there & seems happy to be away from the pressures of being a head coach.
  2. They have more to work with than Ottawa, I believe. We really don't know how much better the Riders would have been with Trevor Harris. They might have been a 9-9 team & qualified for the playoffs. Ottawa is abysmal. Especially with Bob Dyce still there. We'll see who the HC will be.
  3. Must be the air.
  4. Amazing. I'd love to go to an NFL game in Green Bay but despise Regina so much that I'd never go there to watch a game again. Been there 4 times in the past. Three LD games & one regular season game end of October. That's enough for a lifetime.
  5. I dope he does play. Even as a decoy, he'd make a runstopping D take heed having to account for him.
  6. Photo won't appear. Can't post without it, sorry. End of story. Too bad.
  7. Well, that would be something a lot of us would be interested in... I'd put money into a pot to fund that.
  8. Like riding a bike. It's more trust than anything else. Both looking at the field, reading the coverage & Zach knowing where Schoen will be. Both on the same page. That isn't lost in a month. The more important question is how much Schoen is out of football shape being off so long? Can he get to where he's supposed to be if he's gassed?
  9. You ask too many of those questions then yeah, I believe they would. Everything is always hunky dory. You don't think the media notices what O'Shea does with the roster & yet it's always crickets. All the rumours swirling around about Walters future with the Bombers. Only one question from a guy who really isn't media but thinks he is & gets rebuffed. The Bombers take the besat beat writer & hire him for their communications dept. CFL teams control the message now like never before. It's the same thing here in Calgary. At least here there are legit beefs about the way the Stamps are run yet are never asked. There's only about 3 reporters covering the Stamps now. None go on the road. Danny Austin files the same stories for the Herald & Sun. He's more interested in being buddy buddy with the players & Dickenson than really reporting any negatives about the team. The team loses three or four in a row & there he was filing stories about how what's happening is just bad luck. Or what a great season a player is having instead of focusing on what's really wrong with the team. You don't get the info you used to get.
  10. No one asks hard questions anymore out of fear they'll lose their press credentials. The days of the media holding the HC & GM's feet to the fire is over. There are no more Jack Matheson's Don Blanchard's or John Robertson's. They were as smart as the team manager as they'd all covered the Bombers for at least 30 years. Matheson back into the early 50's for the old Winnipeg Tribune. If they wanted to, they could make life miserable for any GM & HC duo if they got on their bad side. Then on the radio side was Jack Wells who also was hard to fool. Although, he generally had a good relationship with Lunsford & any of the coaches he hired. Being on radio, he could only really give sound bites & not go into anything in great detail. The same in local TV with Don Wittman, Bob Picken & Stew McPherson. Thyey only had maybe 3 or 4 minutes to tell a story about the Bombers before having to move on to other subjects in an 8-10 minute sprtscast. They all had insider CFL contacts in every city & more importantly were never intimidated by guys like GM Earl Lunsford or any of the many head coaches he hired at the time. And there were a few. If there were tough questions to ask then they all did it. The only head coach that I remember Jack Matheson & the rest of the media holding in high esteem was Bud Grant after he left. I do remember that Grant was pretty close with most of them. I know Bud shared more than a few drinks after hours with those guys & some of them were his good friends. Bud Riley never got along with the local media very much. It was always frosty as he never never trusted them. That changed when Ray Jauch was hired. He knew most of them from his time as a player with the Bombers & he won a GC as a Head Coach in Edmonton. When Matheson smelled a story, he was relentless uncovering it. Guys like Earl Lunsford had to treat the media with respect even if he didn't like them. It made for some great reading in both newspapers. Times are certainly different today. It would be interesting to see the relationship those old media types would have with Mike O'Shea today as he keeps a lot of things close to the vest. I think they'd have a hard time getting info from their sources as the league has closed ranks in a lot of ways to the media. Things aren't as open as they used to be.
  11. It's easy to sign on a piece of paper. It's quite another to make an NFL team.
  12. The voters think that MOC is a consolation award. Let the random Canadian nominated for MOP win the MOC award even if he's the best player of the two. Reserve the MOP for an American. Fine, now that's how we'll vote says the clueless media.
  13. I think Harris comes back.
  14. Achilles used to be a career ender. Look at Aaron Rodgers he may return to play in December!! That's crazy. He's walking with no limp.
  15. I agree so the CFL should make a separate award for that so volunteering can be recognized. Truth is, some players just don't like the spotlight. They may be shy or busy raising a family. Some guys have full time jobs so between football & a home life they just don't have the time to give. So, if they have a great season on the field, it shouldn't mean any lesser than a player who also volunteers. Just my take.
  16. What a story Collaros would have had. Every team has one player that would qualify for that award.
  17. Suitor does love the CFL as he's been involved as a player & analyst going on 40 years. I've no doubt about that. But the young 20/30 somethings who cover the league use it for career advancement instead of making it a career.
  18. No one should win CFL Awards because they volunteer. Player awards should just be based on performance & nothing else. The League should have a separate award for player volunteer activities off the field separate from anything they do on the field. The NFL has one called The NFL Man Of The Year. I believe it's called. They also have the Comeback Player Of the Year Award which the CFL does not. I'd like to see two awards like that. They hate us cuz they ain't us.
  19. Free agents will sign with the Riders if Milanovich is there. But knowing the Riders, they'll cheap out & hire Mark Killam. Assistants usually have an out.
  20. Yeah, it was Lemon. He wanted to make sure Nichols was out of the game so he pancaked him from behind. You still couldn't compare the level of Bomber OL play in 2016 as the same as 2019 & 2021. The OL has also come on like gangbusters this season as well.
  21. If Milanovich goes to the Riders then yeah, I can see MBT signing there. Why would he want to go to that **** show in Ottawa?
  22. Deleted
  23. Not voting for Brady was absurd. He's got some "splaining" to do. That's just sad.
  24. Monson? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!! I hope they hire that stooge. The Stamps may bring in DC who knows how to coach a defense. How do these clown coaches keep getting opportunities?? You'd think they'd go after Mace over Monson. They work for Postmedia & all dream of covering the Jays, Raptors or Leafs. Unlike back years ago, reporters spent their entire career covering the CFL & had no inyerest in doing anything else. Now, it's a temporary gig. Dave Naylor is the last of a dying breed. And knowing Bell Media they'll lay him off eventually.
