  1. 2013 was way worse than 2009.
  2. The opposition in 2008 were planning on forming a coalition government to oust Harper in a coup & at the time the recession had just got started. Harper had a completely different budget but was forced by the Libs, NDP & Bloq to rip it up & go from an austerity budget to deficit spending.
  3. Some posters here (not all) get carried away with their political beliefs & threads like this become shouting matches. The election is over & Trump is President so it doesn't matter about the popular vote anymore. Time to move on. I despise Trump but the US election was nearly 2 months ago.
  4. In this rendition of the Jets. The Jets 1.0 drafted Dave Babych & Dale Hawerchuk.
  5. "Progressive" Conservatives like Clark, McDonald & later the Brian Mulroney coalition-umbrella gave us nearly two additional decades of Liberal rule going into the mid 2000's after 1980. Liberals love to promise the world & spend, spend, spend as well as raise taxes. That's what progressives do & how they roll.
  6. The American people will decide if the Electoral College should go or not. As Canadians we have no say. You can post whatever you want & try to justify your belief that it should go but in the end your opinion about the EC mean absolutely nothing. So why even worry about it?
  7. Socially progressive & so called fiscally conservative (of even that I doubt) Red Tories got Alberta into deep doo doo squat so badly the NDP unbelievably got in. Red Tories are like the Liberals, are a plague on the political landscape federally & provincially & just as vile. The most famous Red Tory was Joe Clarke & he lasted like 4 months as PM. Then there was Flora McDonald, his henchwoamn. Brian Mulroney's cabinet was full of separatists & Red Tories.
  8. I'm having a hard time discerning what you're trying to say. You put forth a statement that makes sense to me & I actually agree with you. Then you say my answer is unacceptable? Okay then, I don't have time to argue with someone who has two sides of an axe to grind at the same time.
  9. Well, since you put it that way then okay.
  10. Well, according to your avy I'm talking to a chimp so pfft.
  11. The money they generate. The Jets shouldn't have it. The Goldeyes & Bombers have much, much smaller revenue streams.
  12. Goldeyes & Bombers should be getting tax subsidies but not True North &/or the Jets.
  13. Yes, a rookie HC with "lots of promise" is just what this team needs. Some of the underperforming veterans will really have a run of the dressing room with an inexperienced head coach in place. He'll come cheap though so I wouldn't be surprised if this happens.
  14. Some scout, eh? He should have stuck with Bill Polian in Indy. If you can't figure that out as a CFL GM then you're some kinda stupid.
  15. At one time the owners had all the pull & now it's gone the other way to the players side which isn't good either. I know some people feel we should sign all or most of our players to 1 year deals to get talent to come to the CFL but fans are having a hard time identifying with players being up here a season, maybe 2 & then they leave. The freedom to move around has come at a cost & we see that in the stands with decreased attendance & stagnant or slightly better numbers in viewership on TSN. I'd like to see longer term deals signed by veteran players. Especially those going into their second & third contracts.
  16. You didn't mention the other guys. There was a reason we won 3 games in 2013.
  17. That absolutely sucks. Penton covered the CFL for all teams in the Sun chain. Have they been laid off or going elsewhere?
  18. Doors are wide open once a coach gets into the NCAA system. Widen contacts.
  19. They have to do something. This can't go on. A trade would do it.
  20. Then round 'em up & move 'em out.
  21. I think that Kavis Reed will probably only last a couple of seasons as GM if things don't improve anyway. When he goes he'll take Joe Mack with him.
  22. Not when you Steinhauer can get a pension, health & education benefits. He'll probably get paid more money & in US dollars. Then it makes all kind of sense. The CFL would retain more coaches if it brought in assistant coach benefits but it doesn't. Benefits for assistant coaches have been discussed for many years as a way to keep bright young coaches in the CFL & nothing ever changes.
  23. Worked for me. It proved that Nichols while he makes some mistakes can also make great throws too. Just like all the other starters can as well. I think given another year as the starter in LaPolice's offense he will improve upon last year.
  24. Trying to be respectful.
