Game 5 : Oil Wells @ All Is Well - Heritage Classic
SpeedFlex27 replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
What a letdown. The Jets couldn't even score a goal against the legendary Cam Talbot. -

Game 5 : Oil Wells @ All Is Well - Heritage Classic

No different than the Jets today looking like the Lightning or Leafs with mostly blue home unis. The old/new look is very, very good for me. -
Those Jets uniforms are beautiful. The best NHL Heritage Series uniforms yet.
-
Whatever...
-
Darn, those unis are sharp. We need to use them full time on the road. Now, design some sharp homers.
-
There should be nothing to complain about.
-
Could you imagine the Jets with Hawerchuk & Selanne in their prime playing on the same line? That would have been scary. How different would the hockey world have been if Rudy Pilous wouldn't have told Micheal Gobuty that Wayne Gretzky would never last as a pro hockey player?
-
We've clinched second, haven't we? Sorry, my bad. I just checked the standings. I thought we had won 2 more games than BC. We're tied.

I loved the old school goaltending. The 2 pad stack. Staying up on their skates rather than doing a butterfly on their knees & sliding across the crease. Ranford on his back with the puck underneath him. Great to watch.
-
Kris King looked in great shape as well. Has Tikkanen put on the pounds. I felt sorry for Mike Ford & Willy Lindstrom. Only Ford & Lindstrom played in the WHA with Bobby Hull. It would have been great to get their takes on the game & playing here 40 years ago when it all started. Didn't even talk to either of them. Nice to see Eddie Olcyzk & Numannin back as Jets. It was exciting to see all these all those great players.

Burris took his hand off the football like he was going to throw then changed his mind. Instead of bringing the football back to his chest & holding with 2 hands he just left the football hanging down in his arm & it was swatted out. It was a split second decision that coast the RedBlacks the game.
-
Henry Burris did what he always seems to do, His fumble in overtime. In crunch time he seems to make a lot of mistakes that cost the different CFL teams he has played on dearly. He knew the pocket around him was collapsing yet he was sloppy protecting the ball with both hands. Thus allowing the defensive player to swat the ball out of his right hand and leads to the loss. He throws for over 400 yards & the fumble is all people will be talking about.

Miller starting contract extension talks with Walters O'Shea
SpeedFlex27 replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That isn't the way things are done. You don't fire O'Shea as he got a playoff spot. You need to reward him. Not punish him. Also, there's no guarantee that another coach would do better than Mike as he might do worse. -

I'm just glad the O'Shea hire is starting to work out. I'm sure he'll be signed to a new contract soon. -
In Case You Missed It - Loose End & Pieces
SpeedFlex27 replied to Mr Dee's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That was Terrell Owens when he was with the 49ers. Steve Mariucci fined & benched him after his stunt. I think he did it twice that game running to the Star at midfield. To this day, whenever Mariucci talks about that incident on the NFL Network he still gets worked up about it. He said Owens embarrassed himself & the entire 49ers organization. Mariucci apologized publicly to the Cowboys afterward saying that isn't how the Niners play the game. He said he was very angry with Owens & that it changed their relationship negatively & it was never the same up to when he left the team. He said that even today there's still friction between them. -
I'd like to know Keeping's injury. If he's ready to go soon.

Miller starting contract extension talks with Walters O'Shea
SpeedFlex27 replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
O'Shea body of work this season has merited a new contract. He has a winning record & his team made the playoffs. I think he deserves a 3 year deal but not more. -
I don't agree. We only have a 5 million dollar plus salary cap. We could sign another veteran player for what he is being paid.
-
Isn't that what a coach does?
-
What happened to Keeping? His injury was supposed to keep him out until around Labor Day. Is he backing up or still on the injury list.
-
I hope that we can move on from Neufeld next season & release him in the off season. He's an expensive veteran player not worth what we're paying him as he's injured all the time.

Miller starting contract extension talks with Walters O'Shea
SpeedFlex27 replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm all for signing Walters but if it's 5 years for Walters & 4 years for O'Shea then I'm afraid that it would cripple the Bombers financially if the team failed in the standings under both of them & a change in both positions had to be made. -
No, I would keep the divisions. We have the crossover...

Joe Daley has a sports memorabilia store in Winnipeg. As a former WHA Jet goalie he would have autographed that stick. He'd know what that stick would be worth. If you ever get to Winnipeg get him to check it out.
