I was 11 years old in 1966. Since the Xmas the year before in 65, I wanted an electric road racing set. Well, after a year of waiting, wishing & hoping, my parents bought me that road racing set. A Scalextric set. I loved it. It still stands as one of the greatest gifts I've ever received. This was the set I used to have: \ I had this car. It was so fast & balanced. Especially in the corners. It wouldn't go flying off the track. When I raced my friends I always raced with this car. I never lost. Plus the track was set up permanently on a table in our rec room downstairs so I could practice by myself all the time. I knew when to accelerate or back off the control stick. IT cost my folks $45 in 1966.

We'll never have restrictions again. It just won't happen.

Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
SpeedFlex27 replied to JCon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If we had a field goal kicker who didn't pee his pants everytime he had to make an important kick, we'd have won last year's Grey Cup. Sure, the kick was blocked. But as Matt Dunigan said in TSN's 2023 season preview the day before the season opened, the kick was wide to the left anyway had it not been blocked. It came off Marc Liegghio's foot with too low a trajectory & that was why it was blocked. We could have fought all we wanted & won every battle all season in 2022. We could have been the most game ready team in CFL history & it wouldn't have mattered. In the end though, it came down to one thing. Losing a championship because Marc Liegghio couldn't handle the pressure. When he was needed the most, Lieghhio had one job & didn't do it. He never stepped up. He fell down. We all knew that if he was put in that position, Liegghio would choke. I know I felt what happened was inevitable as I screamed obscenities at my television. -

If MLSE wanted to promote the Argos they could but don't want to. They own the Leafs, Raptors, Bluejays & Toronto FC. They could cross promote. They could do a lot of things but don't. Except ***** that the Argos doesn't grow in value. Or that they want to join the XFL. I like how BC owner Doman told Tannenbaum to suck it up & quit complaining. -
Yeah, I don't refer to Italy, China, Australia or New Zealand when I talk about lockdowns. Instead, what we experienced here in Canada. Even more specifically, Alberta. And I never called them lockdowns. I called them restrictions.

Big deal. Good for him. Maybe in 5-10 years I'll be ready to welcome him on the ROH. Now, he's just another Argo that I don't care about. When he left here he just kept shooting off his mouth. -
CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

The same question is asked here in YYC. We have tons of oil money & a billionaire who owns the Stamps a couple of times over in Murray Edwards & nothing ever gets done. The Flames (whom he also owns) proposed a new arena in 2015 & here we are... Eight years later. -
I curled in the School Boy's Bonspiel ( now called the Junior Men's Bomsiel) in the mid 70's & later the MCA Bonspiel (later in the 70's to the late 80's). I liked the curling facility at the Highlander. I guess it's now a hockey rink. Our biggest claim to fame in the Junior Bonspiel was having our team mentioned as "the team to watch" by CJOB's Bob Irving on his 12;25 pm sportscast as we were undefeated going into the 8's of the Free Press Event. Then we ran into the buzzsaw team skipped by Dale Duguid (the eventual champ) who cut us into little pieces & It. Was. Over. It was fun while it lasted.

Als at Stamps, Ti Cats at Argos GDT

Maier just throwing the ball away. Those throws for interceptions were awful. The Stamps have no one else at qb. Tommy Stevens is like Dakota Prukop. He is a runner & not a passer. Not capable of ever being a starter. -

How did we lose to the RedBlacks, Ti Cats & Riders??? All with rookie qbs. Huge difference when Matt Scianetti hosts. He actually knows what he is talking about. Kate should be reassigned to doing checker tournaments but in today's world of broadcasting, she gets a free pass onto the panel as the token female. Scianetti should be hosting & Dave Naylor should be a full time participant on that panel. That would be an immediate improvement. -

The Team Prez says a new stadium is off the table. They want to renovate Percival Molson Stadium. The place is 113 years old. Just how many times can you put lipstick on a pig? Oh an injury. That's part of the game & that is what Harris was dealing with his final season here. Just pure ego & selfishness. Pay me or else. Or else meant the Argos & look where he is. Backing up Ouelette, a guy he probably thinks isn't as good as him but he was still being paid to sit getting limited reps. Now he's been 6 gamed on the IR. -

So, he sulks & ******* leaving us only to lose his starting spot with the Argos to Ouelette. I don't remember Harris complaining when that happened. That's what bothers me. If he felt disrespected here by Walters & O'Shea then how come he didn't feel disrrspected by Dinwiddie & Pinball? Oh yeah, he got paid. -

Anyone really think the Argos will really have troublr signing their veterans? I don't. They'll do what they have to do to sign any veteran they want. -
Cue the confusion with the State of Montana & Yellowstone.

We suspect that the Argos always spend over the cap & the league allows it to have a competitive team in Toronto. Not if it's a community team. -

Now Harris can turn his attention to his junior football team in Nanaimo instead of his misplaced anger at us. As far as I'm concerned Harris can retire. I don't care if he ever plays us again. -

The season doesn't start until October so no need to lock it so fast. Cheveldayoff would never answer that question, HardCoreBlue. -

The salary cap is too ridiculously low. Nest season's hundred thousand dollar increase will be eaten up just resigning veterans & with inflation. It won't begin to cover signing anyone new. That'll mean goodbye to some veterans we love. This off season may not be much fun as to who goes to afford signing Schoen & Demski. As well, can we afford to keep both? Gawd, I hope so. -
I wasn't against the restrictions, vaccine passports & masking. However, with vaccines available now & the fact that Covid 19 is weakening with every new variant I'd be against all that now. We have to get on with life. Canada's Chief Public Officer of Health Theresa Tam saying we need to mask again will never happen. Restrictions are certainly out as well.

Five teams were over in 2022 including us so I think we do spend to the cap & beyond. Now, does that bother me? Not in the least. If we have to spend over the cap to field the best team if it means winning a championship then so be it. Winning means increased attendance which means more parking, concessions & merchandise slaes. It also means that player salaries will increase. In order to retain the FA's we want & to sign new ones if going over the cap then again, so be it. You can't tell me MLSE doesn't overspend past the cap with FA's every year so then why should we be suckers? Nice guys finish last. -
And to make themselves look good, A & W just muddies the issue. Very interesting, thanks.
-
I just don't get what it means as far as beef is comcerned & safety of those eating A & W burgers. That's what I thought so why is A & W making it out to be a good thing? These corportaions just lie to us making themselves out to be heroes when they're not.
-
What does it mean when A & W claims its burgers come from cattle that have had no antibiotics?

He had a phenomenal voice.
