  1. Evans threw for 829 yards, threw 4 TDs & 6 Ints & had a 68.9% completion average with a QBR of 81.7. Schilz played in 11 games & threw for 1,556 yards. He tossed 7 TD passes & 5 interceptions. Schilz had a 67.1% completion average with a QBR of 99.8. The wildcard here is Dane Evans state of mind. He's fragile & goes to pieces when the going gets tough. He also demoted himself last season to sit on the bench in BC. He was no challenge to Vernon Adams. How many starting qbs would say to a team, "Please sit me. I'll take a major pay cut & be happy to sit on the bench." That's no leader. Why would any head coach want a qb like Evans with so many question marks as a player? Schilz was playing well before he got hurt. He came back & struggled which happens a lot after an injury. Any momentum he had as a qb was lost. He's the better qb of the two from what I've seen. I'd rather have him backing up Zach than Evans.
  2. It was approved earlier this week by American regulators.
  3. Zach was 32 & close to 33 when Brown got here. Now, he'll be 35 this season. Those 3 years are huge. if we let Brown go & don't sign someone who is capable of helping us win if Zach goes down then we as an organization deserve everything bad that happens. It'll be a bad move & at some point we'll pay dearly for that decision. Some of the back ups in this league are dogs.
  4. More serious? Sleeping with a teammate's mother?? If that were true & players were packing that player who did that would be dead.
  5. So, you'd prefer a 22 year old rookie with no experience to a veteran backing up a 35 year old Zach Collaros with a running qb like Prukop for short yardage? Yeah, good luck with that scenario if Collaros goes down. Our season would be ******. You'd be crying the blues when we go out one & done in the playoffs. If we even make the playoffs.
  6. I'll be honest, if it comes down to keeping Dalton Schoen or Dru Brown then Dru can leave.
  7. I used to like them as well.
  8. He tells some great stories. Forster passed away. These are old stories.
  9. Taylor should check out my CFL History Group on Facebook. Almost 5,000 members & growing strong.
  10. If Brown left then I'd be happy having Schilz here as a veteran backup with Prukop as the short yardage qb. We can't have a raw rookie backing up a 35 year old starter in Zach. Or Streveler. I just don't think he'll be back.
  11. His hair was shoulder length & he had a big moustache like we all did. Players in the 70's took care of their hair & just didn't let it grow to their knees like now. Different era.
  12. Defensively, Ribbins was a ball hawk & similar in stature to that Ducoix kid in Montreal. He's the closest to Ribbins as a DB I've seen. They're very similar. But Ducoix can't play the other positions like Ribbins could.
  13. Imagine coaching or playing with teammate who could run the ball, play receiver, play defensive back at a high level. return punts & kicks & be an undersized long snapper? Then be even more athletic as your best American player. That was Peter Ribbins. I'd call him a generational player.
  14. IIRC, your father was picked by the Bombers in the first round of the Canadian Football Draft. The Bombers had two first round picks in that 1971 Draft. They took Bobby Kraemer from the University of MB with their first pick & your Dad with their second pick. Kraemer was a great selection & a very good athlete but he couldn't hold a candle to your father. I also remember reading that your Dad was considered the most athletic player the Bombers had. Both you & Kraemer had a great deal to do with the Bombers going from a CFL last place finish at 2-14 in 1970 to a 7-8-1 third place finish in the Western Conference in 1971 his rookie year. I also remember your father catching a TD pass from Don Jonas in the 1971 Western Semi Final against the Saskatachewan Roughriders.
  15. Don't you have a hockey game to worry about today, Cancer Boy?
  16. Scott Grant Photography has a great action photo of your father I'm sure your family would appreciate. You should contact him. His photos are online & you can order it. I remember your father very well. He was just a natural as a player. Peter excelled whatever position he played. He was a safety, a corner, a receiver (wingback) & he could run with the ball as well. He also was the Blue Bomber long snapper. At 185 lbs & he did that very well, too. I remember the game in 1972 when he picked off 4 passes against the BC Lions. Your Dad was one of my favourite player's back when he played.
  17. He's like long Covid. Just won't go away.
  18. Brown would be a second tier starter so you have to look at what a guy like Taylor Cornelius made. Or if Jake Dloegala stays with the Riders. Some of the young guys like Dustin Crum & Taylor Powell (who I think will be a future star in the CFL) are probably still on rookie deals. It'll be interesting come 2025.
  19. There are players that don't live in Winnipeg in the off season & want to get home to see their families. Asking them to wait while the Riders sorted out their HC search would have been unfair. NMost would have said, "See ya" & left. You can bet these players had their exit interviews with Osh & Walters even if his contract hadn't been renewed yet.
  20. This writers & actors strike has really screwed the pooch for a lot of jobs for shows having been cancelled. From Yellowstone to Blue Bloods. It's sad that a lot of popular shows are on the cutting block. For me, those 2 shows especially. I'd have loved to see Blue Bloods make 15 seasons but that won't happen. Yellowstone was a riveting series & I'll miss them both. However, since the pandemic with seasons shortened & long hiatuses, I've found that I do other things with my time now. Tuesdays used to be the FBI shows & Weds nights the Chicago series. Friday night at 11 pm on Spokane CBS channel, I faithfully watched Blue Bloods since 2010. However, with sometimes up to 2 months off between November & January & off seasons up to nearly 6 months long now, As well as a number of random 2-3 weeks breaks in between, I don't watch as much tv as I used to. If I do, I pvr old movies or old series that I find & watch them instead. I found that sometimes I forgot to watch series like Blue Bloods or Chicago PD that I never missed before. So, thanks TV networks & studios for screwing us all over with streaming on Netflix or Paramount Plus, the writers & actors stikes & long layoffs. You're just killing off series tv on the major networks. Maybe that was the end game all along?
  21. Knowing the CFl & what they've done with the players cap, it'll be a snails pace.... Like $50,000 or something like that. Paper cuts for everyone made to suffer.
  22. The way the really big men can run & move now the athleticism is off the charts. We need to get bigger physically in the middle & give relief to the two Jeffs. I just hope Walters makes replenishing our defense a priority. With Schoen & Oliveira eating up a ton of cap money that may be tough. Unless, we unload some aging & expensive veterans.
