Getting things square with Wade - 500th home game
66 Chevelle replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
to you my friend on your impressive accomplishment! quite the fan! -
true... and Missouri was sure glad that he chose to transfer there, lol...
-
there is a reason why they hide this information and not wanting everyone to know who is on these list... it's all about keeping players/players agents in the dark more so than fans... if you ever wonder why there could be a shortage of QBs in this league, look no further than the negotiation list as possible reason... if I'm a QB I can only sign with a team if a) I am on that team's list, or b) I'm not on any one's list... if I make an inquiry to the Bombers to try out or sign with them, they can't sign me if I'm on somebody else's list... also, if I happen to be on their list, they have a negotiation advantage salary wise... the team only has to offer an amount to be considered 'fair' and either you accept that amount or are prohibited from signing with anyone else for a year...

much the way one would consume an elephant, one bit at a time... lol... 😁

true, the list of 10 by each team was a concession by the league to appease the fans that was inquiring why it existed, why it wasn't available to fans, and who was on it... needless to say, the list each team provides each year for public consumption probably contains little information of substance... most of the names being released are probably those on their list that have the lowest probability of actually playing in the CFL... not that I'm a conspiracy theorist normally, this situation does beg the question, if you have nothing to hide why are you hiding it? teams share their personal list every day with the league who then makes everyone's list available to every team... the list can contain 45 players and can be changed as frequently as a team would like with no limits imposed... so, they have no problem sharing this information among themselves, but seem to have an issue with sharing this information with fans and the public at large...

it's crazy how many times he's been sacked this year, especially compared to everyone else's numbers... the man has been enduring a beat down this year... but he keeps on getting back up, you have to respect that...
-
I'd settle for them just scoring at this point...
-
McKay went 19th overall in this year's NFL Draft... he's fast! Bryant is a 5th year, senior transfer from Clemson playing for Missouri this year (GO TIGERS!)... he was displaced on Clemson's starting roster last year after game 4 by Lawrence, but he's good... Bently could be interesting though and possibly a CFL candidate down the road... he's decent and has played well at South Carolina, ranked just outside of the top 30 in the NCAA for all D1 QBs, 7th in the SEC...

don't even get me started on the CFL's negotiation list... talk about a rant...

actually, throwing to a 'spot' in the QB/WR world means something just a little bit different than simply leading your receiver or a QB waiting to throw until the receiver is open... when the QB throws to a 'spot' he is throwing to a predetermine spot on the field as dictated by the route pattern. When the receiver runs the route he's headed to the 'spot' and isn't looking for the ball until he makes his last break because if he is at the 'spot' the ball will be there when he gets there... for example, if a receiver is running a 'skinny post' he is expected to run down field exactly 25 yards and then break at 45 degrees, 5 yards in towards the goal post... there isn't a need for the QB to wait and see if he's open, or the WR to look back to see if and when the ball is coming his way... The QB has already made his read and anticipates that the WR will be open when he gets to the 'spot', WR runs the route assuming the ball is coming to him regardless... some routes have double moves, such as a 'post corner' when the receiver runs 20 yards down field, cuts 45 degrees toward the goal post 3 strides and then breaks back towards the corner of the end zone... not all routes have a 'spot', like a go route... in that pattern the QB may be waiting to see if the WR beats his man and then throws the ball leading the receiver based upon the WR's speed ... throwing to a 'spot' helps to complete a pass even when the receiver is actually well covered as the receiver doesn't have to look for the ball, he's already anticipating it being on him at the 'spot', defender is engaged in trying to cover until he sees the receiver look for the ball and then he does as well... if the receiver isn't looking the defender never knows the ball is coming until it's too late...

It's time to hand the ball to Streveler.
66 Chevelle replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
let's not forget that Streveler was asked to start the first game he ever dressed straight out of college... I think those INTs are actually pretty low for a QB as green as he was under the circumstances... because by all accounts, the majority of fans seem to believe that a new QB must carry a clipboard for at least 2, if not 3, years before he should even be allowed onto the field in the CFL... -
I've seen screen passes take longer to develop, lol...
-
you might want to take another look then... if Nichols had taken the snap under center, then yeah, thats a 7 step drop, but Nichols is step up in the 'gun', he takes a 3 step drop and throws the ball... maybe 2.5 seconds or so from the snap... Demski is running a 'skinny post' route... the ball is in the air way before Demski ever considers making his break... Demski is running just inside the numbers and by the time he makes his break, at about the W50, the ball is already in the air... ball is thrown to the left hash and is caught at the O47, or so... yeah, it was a deep pass, but, Nichols still threw to 'a spot' he anticipated where Demski was going to be because the play is designed for him to be on the hash to make the catch... the ball is thrown when Demski is at about W45 and is caught at about the O45, the whole play takes maybe 5 seconds from snap to catch...

well, thank you very much... I like it here... it's funny though as I'm on the 'other' Bomber forum as well, and there were a lot of people that told me I'd be gone as soon as L'Damian got cut... not so much, lol... but honestly, I didn't have a clue how the CFL worked and all of the intricate moving parts with quota, cap, etc.... you never hear about the CFL in the states and ESPN does an absolute crap job of promoting it even though they are the provider of content... pisses me off too... they'll show crap like 'spike ball' and 'corn hole championships' on their cable channels in prime time and then push the CFL off to their streaming platform where you have to pay now to watch... cornhole? really? like that's even a sport...
-
well, first and foremost, I'm a football fan and because I followed the Bombers so intently the first year I was vested... even though I wasn't crazy about Nichols, I thought as a team overall there were solid... then I got to know people like Poop and a few others thru L'Damian so it was natural to root for them... not to mention the Bombers have the coolest name and uniforms in the league... that never hurts, lol... needless to say I get a lot of looks from people when I'm out in my Bomber swag, lol... as far as football in general? I'm a lot bigger and more avid fan of the CFL than I am the NFL... NCAA is still my go to though, love my Tigers... but I live about 90 minutes from Arrowhead, a 2 hour car ride and 4 hour flight, with layover, from Winnipeg but I've been to more Bomber games than I have Chief games, lol... I love the small size of the league, though it would be cool if they could support 12 or so teams, but, they're easy to follow, to know all of the players, and you can watch every game every week with a small commitment of time... then the whole "CFL happens when my other football isn't" which makes it a home run too!
-
and another TD and 2 pt conversion catch for the game... over 100 yards on 4 catches... set the record for the longest TD catch... hated to see that league go bye...
-
he is a perfect example of not being used for his strengths, speed and height... the guy still runs a 4.3 forty... I didn't want him to come back in year 2... offered to pay his salary to stay home and work towards another NFL shot... he didn't show case what he capable of here, and ultimately got cut when we decided to go with 2 nationals on O
-
I actually had season tickets to the Birmingham Iron AAF games and went to each game and watched... road games too... that is before they folded... he was the leagues offensive player of the week in week 6...
-
yep... lol... I probably talk to him or see him almost every other day or so now a days... we've become real close...
-
not necessarily, here's a link to a couple of good example of such... Winnipeg/Ottawa here is a pass to Demski in the first seconds of this highlight where you see Nichols getting rid of the ball qucikly and then a few more thru the middle and then another TD pass to Darvin about 3/4 of the way through... but watch it all because is shows us playing at all different levels of the field and having success...

great question! my favorite Missouri Tiger WR became a Bomber in 2017... I had followed his career thru out college and his NFL ventures and he eventually landed in Winnipeg... I'd never spoke to him before in my life but came to watch him play in the WSF game... my daughter was friends with someone that actually knew him from living in Columbia and told him that I was coming to Canada to watch him play... we ended up getting together after the game and we've been close friends ever since...

it's a little town called California, population 4,278... about an hour and a half from either KC or St Louis, 45 mins from Columbia, home of the Missouri Tigers... it's a small, rural community where life happens just a little bit slower than probably the rest of the world... we have 1 stop light that has been upgraded from merely a flashing red light 15 years ago to an actual red/yellow/green traffic light! I've lived here my entire life... its one of those places where you probably know few of the actual street names and you give directions relative to where someone lives, like: "you know where Jim so and so lives, right? well, take the next street after his place and then it's 2 block down on your right"... lol
-
right smack dab in the middle of the state, both ways... in fact, I'm a mere 5 miles west from the geographical center of the United States!

But it doesn't always take longer to make those deeper throws, not when you start throwing to a spot as opposed to having to wait for your receiver to find that spot to sit down in... during that 3 game span we saw a lot more effective Nichols and offense... Nichols was actually throwing spots, more space and larger throwing windows allowed receivers to make adjustments to balls if need be and over all we generated a lot of explosive plays and where we see those throwing TDs come from...
