I suppose it would hinge on whether a judge agrees that a dog alert would constitute "probable cause". I think it probably would and that you are correct.
-
4th Amendment, I believe. "The Fourth Amendment's protection against unlawful search and seizure generally prohibits arbitrary vehicle searches by police. If the police search your car without a warrant, your permission, or a valid reason, they are violating your constitutional rights." Therefore, at least one of the following would have to be true ... You have given the officer consent; The officer has probable cause to believe there is evidence of a crime in your vehicle; The officer reasonably believes a search is necessary for their own protection (a hidden weapon, for example); and You have been arrested and the search is related to that arrest (such as a search for illegal drugs). The "probable cause" might be the one that sinks them.

Unlike Hefney, Greg Robinson is a wealthy man. Let's see if he is able to buy himself some favourable American justice.
-
Maybe because they weren't crossing the border. Maybe since they were already in the U.S. then they'd need consent or a warrant.
-
Right you are ... "According to a criminal complaint by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Robinson, Bray and an unidentified third person were driving from Los Angeles to Louisiana in a rented car through a remote section of West Texas. When they passed a Border Patrol agent with a drug-sniffing dog, the animal detected the scent of marijuana. The agent radioed ahead to a checkpoint where the patrol inspected the vehicle, finding several large duffel bags containing marijuana. Also found were glass jars and packaging equipment, along with $3,100 in cash."
-
It just gets better ... "When they approached secondary inspection at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint near the US border with Mexico, Robinson told the Uber driver he would pay them to claim the marijuana, the complaint said, according to the release. The driver refused and said they would not have driven had they known about the drugs."

Sure, and maybe I am out-of-touch with these things nowadays, but is weed even a thing any more? I mean, it is far from a performance enhancing drug. Likely just the opposite. I thought cocaine was the drug of choice among athletes nowadays -- improves performance, clears the system quickly, is easier to hide/transport, doesn't reek, and is much more profitable.
-
Oh I agree completely. I have a ton of compassion for Hefney and the circumstances of his incarceration. This, as you say, is on a whole different level. Reports claim the weed was found in duffle bags in the back of their vehicle that was sniffed out by a dog at the border crossing. No attempt to hide the weed or cover up the smell. Nothing. Just brazenly in the open. The mind boggles at how in the world these gentlemen thought they were just going to drive across the border into the U.S. like that. Were they just that stupid? Sure looks that way.

"The champ is here! The champ is here! The champ is here!" LOL! Love it!

We all saw what happened to Hefney.

Lapo.

Never grow tired of that. Thank you.

I'm just over the moon at the prospect of Walker signing here. Just imagine how much fun it will be watching this offense perform and the fear it'll instill in our opponents. So exciting!
-
Agree. I think it was O'Shea too. However, the club made a lot of the changes it had to make to win last season so that gives me hope that the stubborn one is no longer stubborn to the point of hurting the team's chances to win and/or develop it's players. For example, replacing Hecht with Alexander. Had O'Shea not made that change do we run the table as we did? Doubtful. I think O'Shea made a quantum leap in maturity as a head coach last season.

Bubba, have you seen any highlight packages of McGuire? They talk about him throwing dimes and how it's unfair to the DBs. He sure looks like he has field general qualities and knows how and when to hit a receiver. He's here because he has something special much like Streveler did except I think McGuire is more of a pure passer than Strevs was. He moves the pocket and sets himself up well. He throws his receivers open. His field vision appears to be outstanding and he hits his receivers at top speed and in stride. With Harris in the backfield and an OL like ours I think he can excel at the CFL game. That's why I am so pumped about this season. I don't think we have anything to worry about at QB. I see McGuire being a future superstar with this team.

This. I'm hoping to see a break-out season from this offence that'll remind us of the Khari Jones era. To me the biggest deals we've made were saying goodbye to Lapo and Nichols. That may sound harsh, and I don't mean any disrespect, they both have their value and I thank them for their contributions, but I'm looking forward to watching Buck show us what he can do with a true gunslinger and multiple boxes of ammo.
-
Agreed on Adams and Coombs (Ha!) I'm just imagining how potent our offense would be with Walker to stretch the field vertically and Zach's ability to connect with his receivers deep down field. We'll see about Buck, especially if he's got deep threats besides Adams. Adams/Walker would be one hell of a one-two punch.

LOL! Darrell Walker playing in a Lapo schemed offense. Now that's funny! I'm with Nolby on this one. Walker may like the idea of playing with Zach and a team of defending Grey Cup champions with an exciting new offensive coordinator. It'd be a real nice fit for him and Walters is creative enough financially to put together a package they could both live with. I'd be over the moon to see Walker in blue and gold.

You have to love the chirping Darvin gives the dbacks. Friggin hilarious!
-
Brings back memories of another league, doesn't it?
-
Totally agree. I don't understand the Argos moves at all.
-
Walters in negotiations with the league right now to allow us to play the whole season in our whites.
-
Lapo is sooo over rated. Do the RBs really believe Lapo was responsible for our championship last year? They're in for a world of hurt.

I don't know why. Guy was a crappy fighter and didn't seem tough enough for football to me.
