I was underwhelmed when we hired Lapo, for the 3rd time, and nothing he has done has made me change my mind. However, if Streveler can find a way to make Lapo's playbook work by pushing the limits, we may yet have something we can hang our hats on. So much of Lapo's playbook relies on Harris, and rightfully so as he is a beast, but he is also a great decoy and a decoy that can block. If we can get the running thing going and mix in some vertical attack with Adams, Petermann, Bailey, etc. then we can light it up. Streveler needs to take Lapo's playbook and make it his playbook.

Maybe. The Cats haven't won anything yet but look to be a very good team. Lots can happen between now and the end of the game on Grey Cup Sunday. It's all about who is healthy and who gets hot at the right time. Might even be us. After all, we've got coaching continuity on our side and you know how valuable that is.

I don't understand why you're so negative about Streveler. Obviously if he is turning the ball over it's not good but a lot can go into a turnover such as poor route running by the receiver, bad hands on the receiver, poor Oline play, poor play calling, and plain old bad luck. He'll never be Matt Nichols, they're very different types of players. Nichols is a pocket passer, very slow of foot, and somewhat fragile, very cautious with the ball and risk averse. He is somewhat reluctant to fire the ball into tight windows or to stretch the field vertically but he's very good at making the safe play. Streveler is a much more mobile QB and is very intelligent, a stud of an athlete with a strong arm, good speed, and tremendous heart. He's not afraid to take chances and will challenge a D by firing the ball into tight windows. He is not a seasoned vet like Nichols and is somewhat more prone to making mistakes but he's learning. We're damned lucky to have him. The last time he played the Riders he pummeled them and had them off balance all game. It seems like the better teams in the league use a system that allows for fluid counter punches. We don't. Our systems appear to be rigid and when adjustments are made breakdowns occur. As to your point above, we can study film, figure out what they're doing, and devise a plan to stop it. When we do, they have plan B at the ready and shred us to bits with it before we can adjust. We don't adjust well. We're too slow to adapt. Like the stubborn old dinosaurs we're going to find ourselves extinct. Or so it seems to me.

"I don't think you would have had a second half like you did if that was the case. I think you would have had a whole game like that, y'know, like the first half. They ran some plays, moved the ball quickly and snapped the ball quickly on us in that 1st half trying to get us tired out, y'know, I don't know if we were ... certainly that 1st half wasn't good enough". So in summary we couldn't get any pressure because they moved the ball quickly and the secondary was too cautious and gave up too much space, but none of this concerns him even though we lost the second half too but not as badly. He went on to say something about our record lately (4-5) and how it could have been 6-3 (Sask, Montreal) but that there really still would have been a lot to fix giving up all those points. But no, he's not concerned, it's just a matter of looking at the film and learning. Then he really blew my mind when he said, we have something new that we're being taught -- we need to learn how to win by coming back in games that we're getting blown out in because we haven't done that much, if at all, and we're going to have to learn how to do that again since we didn't do it against Hamilton because it would have been good to do that but we didn't do it and the guys need to understand that we could be in that situation again and we've got to figure that one out. Agree. I think with Streveler and an OC that leans towards a more vertical, balanced attack we can be deadly on offense and really maximize the talents of guys like AH.

I've watched enough football to know that sometimes a leader emerges among the players that galvanizes a struggling group into an unbeatable cohesive team. Sometimes they lead by their play on the field, sometimes by what they say in the locker room, sometimes by their demeanor at other times. Chris Streveler strikes me as such a leader. As long as he is playing for this team I believe they have a chance to win. The way he played in the Banjo Bowl after we lost the LDC was a good example. This guy would do anything to win, it burns in him and it shows. If I was a Bomber player there is no way I'd want this guy in my face telling me I was dogging it and to get my **** together.

Fair point but this season isn't over yet and anything can happen in the CFL. If we get hot at the end of the season we can definitely run the table and end the drought. Imagine his bargaining power then. :-) He has a very good regular season winning percentage and he has built a good team out of an inherited mess. We look to be a winning team again this year so he has those bargaining chips. The knock against him is his winning percentage in the playoffs. He is also well-known to be stubborn, too loyal to under-performing players, and has a perplexing tendency to pick poor offensive and defensive coordinators.

This is O'Shea's last year of the three year extension he signed in 2016. It's odd that there has been no talk of extending him again. Maybe they are waiting for the off-season to do it.

It doesn't make much sense piling on the wounded. I don't see how it would help. I did mention Buck Pierce and Devon Claybrooks if he got fired in BC. Someone mentioned Rick Campbell but I don't see him and O'Shea coexisting. Noeller tells us that OSH will definitely be here next year so does that mean he fires Hall and Lapo? Whoah!

During the Hamilton game TSN kept showing Lapo upstairs calling down plays. Then we could watch what was called being executed on the field. It was very interesting. Hamilton seemed to have the perfect response on D to everything Lapo was calling. I kept thinking how frustrating that must have been for Lapo. Hamilton was so good at countering Lapo's calls that Simoni Lawrence set a CFL record for tackles because he was always in the right place at the right time and the ball seemed to just come to him.

That's why I don't see MOS and RC coexisting on the same team.

I don't see Kyle Walters moving on from Mike O'Shea. I think MOS has a HC job here as long as he wants it. It is possible that MOS may want to move on though (if his facial expressions and defeated body language of late is any indication). Should that happen, the new HC here would likely bring in his own OC and DC. Otherwise, I see MOS, Lapo and Hall being here for years to come which may not be a bad thing, continuity and all that.

If you were the boss, would you be willing to move on from Lapo and replace him with Buck Pierce? If you were the boss, would you be willing to move on from RHall and replace him with Devon Claybrooks (if he gets fired from BC)?

He screwed up, no one is saying he didn't, but 9 years is crazy. That's right, stealing over $5,000 is treated differently by legislation than stealing less than $5,000. My point was that the punishment should match the crime. 9 years is crazy. It matters because he entertained us for many years playing a brutally rugged sport that ravaged his body, especially his right shoulder, and caused him to suffer long after his career was over and the medical benefits stopped. Unfortunately, the medical benefit money only flowed during the brief period he was eligible to collect it. It was not enough. I'm not making excuses for him but I'm willing to bet Mr. Hefney was using cocaine as a pain killer to sooth the many aches and pains that arose as a result of playing professional football and enduring the painful surgeries that he suffered. He may have been selling it as a means to supplement the cost as well as the expense of physiotherapy and other medical bills for which he was not being compensated. He wasn't just some "dude". He was a great football player with a strong work ethic, strong character, and was once a very talented CFL AllStar and a one-time Winnipeg Blue Bomber. Yes he got caught and will do his time. No one argues with this. What is outrageous though is that he was sentenced to nine years in the American prison system for selling a few grams of cocaine. That's insane! In the U.S. the same crime is a slap on the wrist for a white person. The punishment doesn't fit the crime. Cocaine is one of the most popular recreational drugs out there and yes, some people can develop an addiction to it, just like they can with alcohol, nicotene, caffeine and a host of other perfectly legal and far more dangerous drugs in the U.S.A. Can you say hypocrisy? No matter what lead Mr. Hefney to make the decision to sell a few grams of cocaine, locking him up for 9 years will not do him, or anyone else not profiting from the American penal system, any good. Taking his few grams of cocaine away will not make even the smallest of dents in the cocaine supply as there are literally TONS of the stuff available for consumption across the USA and there is evidence that most of it was likely brought into that country by the American Government itself.

Not really, not with Lapo and O'Shea calling the shots. I'd really like to see them turn him loose but I don't think it'll ever happen. I know there's plenty you don't like about him but he has a lot of veterans he can lean on for leadership and experience like Andrew Harris, Adam Bighill, Stanley Bryant, etc. I'm not worried about Chris Streveler. I'm far more concerned with Lapo and O'Shea, and Hall's schemes on defense.

Yes, they burn. Just be grateful neither of those losses to Toronto or Montreal were the Grey Cup game. If it's going to happen it's way better to happen now.

I'd just like to thank Matt for his contributions this year and in the past as a Bomber. I hope his surgery is a full success and he is back playing better than ever next season. He's definitely the best QB we've had for quite some time. Now we need to go out and finish the job and bring him a Grey Cup Ring. Go Bombers!
