The only province I didn't enjoy living in more than Alberta was Saskatchewan and that ain't saying much. Alberta has more than it's fair share of arrogant, redneck ******* cowboys. Maybe that factors into it a little bit. If you truly want to know what people think of Alberta, and I don't for a second think Albertans care about what the rest of the country thinks, look outside the province.

The wife & I went out for a drive today. It was a beautiful day here in Ontario. The sunshine and fresh air was wonderful. There were people everywhere. At one point my wife turned to me and said "what quarantine"? Apparently the real number of people you'll infect if you are a carrier is indeed, 2, and not 7 as has been reported here. 2.2, to be exact, according to the WHO. Hard to find data on the flu amid all the covid coverage so we'll go with the WHO numbers of between 300,000 - 650,000 deaths world-wide. Trump, and I am sure many others, say they are surprised that flu is such a killer. Duh! This despite the fact that we know so much about it and have been living with it for so long, which is why we aren't scared of it. Deaths from covid-19 at around 46,000 world-wide. But we don't know much about it so, y'know, we're scared. The U.S. is projecting deaths could reach 240,000. Down considerably from the initial projection of 2,000,000. Because of these numbers, Trump says he has done "an amazing job". He's his biggest fan. I haven't found anyone projecting the expected total numbers of deaths world wide from covid-19. Guess we'll have to wait and see if it surpasses the flu's numbers. People in Ontario have been trying to call in to the Canada Service centres to resolves issues with their E.I. claims. Few, if any, are getting through. People have been calling all day, every day, for weeks now. E.I. would be nice to get if you could actually file the claim successfully. One of the questions asked when to try to file a claim online is "are you out of work due to the covid-19 virus?". If you say, "Yes", your claim is locked and you must call the Canada Service centre to speak to one of their agents. Good luck with that. Checked on my investments today. The value of my portfolio has shrunk 25% People are being told they don't have to pay their rent. Others are deferring their mortgage payments. Oddly, no such concessions from electric, gas, water, and insurance. Good times.

Maybe it's a mindset that people get into, always looking for ways to leverage some bucks. Capitalism at it's finest, I suppose. 😞

Excellent post. I couldn't agree more. No one is advocating going to some random long-term care home and start voluntarily sneezing on senior citizens either just because you aren't afraid. At least I haven't heard of anyone doing anything quite that asinine. However, a work buddy texted me that he had to go to the bank today and while making his way to the line, extended as it was due to social distancing, some guy who was passing by and not even going to the bank just went off on him about being too close to him. My buddy apologized and backed away but the guy wouldn't let it go. He does his banking and the guy is waiting for him, cursing. He makes his way to his vehicle doing his best not to get into an altercation and the guy finally grabs my buddy's hood. Well, if you knew my buddy you'd know that wasn't a good idea. After a brief confrontation the other guy backed off and left. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar lately as this thing tests our humanity towards each other.

It was 3 weeks ago, only 1 week before the WHO declared the pandemic.

What are these sketchy reports? You've identified the tobacco industry and big pharma here. It's not hard to imagine their motivation for lying to u$. What is the motivation for these health experts and academics lying to us?
-
Obscure? It's right there in front of your nose on Globals website. 1-999? Holy hyperbole! There are many experts saying exactly what Mr. Kettner is saying and some of them are saying it much more strongly. It appears people like you choose to ignore them. Why is that? Doesn't feed into the hype machine? Not good click-bait? Since these brilliant people have dedicated their lives to the public good and have risen to the top of their fields and are doctors and academics and not politicians, at least give me some good arguments that disprove what they're saying. Maybe then you can convince me to dismiss them too.

Since the majority of you are in Manitoba have any of you seen or heard from Dr. Joel Kettner? He is an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba. He was interviewed by Global in early March and had some interesting comments. Listen particularly to what he says near the end of this piece regarding the flu and Covid-19. It might set some of us a little more at ease. https://globalnews.ca/news/6630957/manitoba-former-health-chief-covid-19-cases/

What misinformation is that?

Where are you working during the Covid-10 shutdown - March 23rd

That's amazing! Let me share with you what it was like in the plant in the last few weeks before they decided to send all non-essential staff home. As you may know, there are radiological zones in the plant ranging from low risk of spreading radiation to high risk. The zones are clearly delineated and you must pass through various types of radiation detection monitors to move from one zone to another. Normally you are free to go about your business provided you monitor properly between zones. There is zero tolerance, understandably, for not monitoring. Can't be spreading radiation around. In the last few weeks, they had people stationed at these zonal boundaries ensuring that we not only monitored but used the hand sanitizing stations that had been added and everything we touched was immediately sprayed and wiped down with disinfectant. We also had to practice social distancing at all times. It's a strange thing shouting at each other, maintaining distance from each other. It's a strange thing having your movements monitored at all times by security personnel, guys in full riot gear with helmets and automatic weapons eyeballing your every movement. You must show and present to security your identification badges. You must use hand geometry to gain access to certain areas of the plant and it's a strange thing to have someone come behind you and spray down everything you touched with Lysol. Not only could we not spread a radioactive particle. Now we couldn't spread a germ. I saw guys escorted from site because they had developed a cough or a runny nose. Rather than deal with it any longer they just shut the whole thing down and allowed only essential staff. It's a huge facility housing 8 nuclear reactors. The place is used to thousands of people coming and going every day. It is now a virtual ghost town. It is absolutely eerie. Strange times. -

I work as a non-essential employee at a nuclear power plant here in Ontario. I got the call on Saturday to stay home for the foreseeable future. I was instructed to file for and collect E.I. as it may go on for a long time. I attempted to file for E.I. and was instructed to call their 1-800 number since I was laid off due to the coronavirus. I have been trying for 2 days to get through to them and it is always the same -- call in, hit buttons as per the voice prompts, and finally get told to call back and try again due to the high volume of calls. Wonderful. -
"As Professors Ioannidis and Bhakdi have shown, countries like South Korea and Japan that introduced no lockdown measures have experienced near-zero excess mortality in connection with Covid-19, while the Diamond Princess cruise ship experienced an extraÂpolated mortality figure in the per mille range, i.e. at or below the level of the seasonal flu." https://swprs.org/a-swiss-doctor-on-covid-19/

In a new interview, Professor Sucharit Bhakdi, a world renowned expert in medical microbiology, says blaming the new coronavirus alone for deaths is „wrong“ and „dangerously misleading“, as there are other more important factors at play, notably pre-existing health conditions and poor air quality in Chinese and Northern Italian cities. Professor Bhakdi describes the currently discussed or imposed measures as „grotesque“, „useless“, „self-destructive“ and a „collective suicide“ that will shorten the lifespan of the elderly and should not be accepted by society.

They aren't "random persons". One guy is a doctor and the other is a professor. The hype-machine has some of you all bent out of shape and it's embarrassing to watch. Humanity at it's finest. Hate away.

Some of you guys really need to chill. Look at how you're acting. Effin sad.

"The Covid-19 epidemic is something like sepsis: the reaction by the media and government is likely to produce more harm to societies around the globe than the virus, possibly for many years to come." Now before the haters descend like flies, here's the link to the full article from an expert that also sees the harm in over reacting to this thing. https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/16/coronavirus-serious-threat-prepare-not-overreact/ Here's some more "enlightening" reading for those of you, if there are any, that are not afraid to consider the other side of all this hype and it's repercussions. "While COVID-19 (alias nCoV-2019) constitutes a multi-billion corporate bonanza for Big Pharma, it has also contributed to precipitating humanity into a dangerous and unfolding global process of economic, social and geopolitical destabilization." https://www.globalresearch.ca/covid-19-coronavirus-a-fake-pandemic-whos-behind-it-global-economic-and-geopolitical-destabilization/5705063 "As Covid wends its way around the world, let’s detach ourselves from the hype and get some perspective. Like you, I'm old enough to have seen him play. What a beast! That man had an incredible motor. Ran wide open all game long.

You guys are missing the point but it's all good. Best wishes. Stay safe! End of topic for me. Let's talk football.

It goes both ways blue_gold_84. I'm in conversations outside of this circle of my Blue Bomber Brethren where the concensus is the opposite and they see this as a full-blown hype-job. I know you know this but it bears repeating -- not everyone willingly swallows everything that the media pushes onto our plates. The WHO is far from a pristine innocent organisation free of the political trapping of any big organisation and the influences they are subject to. Please don't confuse not buying into the hype with a cavalier attitude towards this thing. Is it serious? Of course. Do we need to take measures to stop it's spread. Yes. Is it a killer? Yes. And you can say the same for the flu which (currently) has a lot higher death count.
