  1. Granted, I despise Rod Smith and Dustin Neilson as announcers. I think Ferguson is the best PBP guy out of the 3 on TSN by a country mile. His knowledge of the game and players is top notch. His delivery is a bit drier, in a good way. It’s refreshing to have a pbp announcer who isn’t a highlight desk guy out of his element (Smith) or shrieking like an 8 year old (Nielson- the worst in my lifetime imo and that’s including Rod Black) they’re kind of doing regional announce teams now. It’s usually Nielson and Suitor for the west games and Marshall and Forde out east. They give Rod Smith the showcase game still. DT is miles better than Smith or Nielson, and more polished than Ferguson. I’m surprised he wasn’t offered a job already. It’s a shame Cuthbert wanted to do hockey so badly. I’m sure if TSN had NHL games, we’d still have CC doing the Grey cup game at a minimum. Next year DT probably replaces Smith if he wants to. In a perfect world they hire DT, retire Smith, put Nielson on sportscenter where he can yell his little catchphrase and just have 2 main announce teams. DT/Lapo, Ferguson/Forde. Use Rod Smith sparingly with Matty or Davis Sanchez if he’d do it. No more Suitor, no more Neilson.
  2. Elks signed Moncrief today https://3downnation.com/2024/07/07/edmonton-elks-sign-former-all-star-sam-derrick-moncrief-dt-shawn-oakman/
  3. That and not putting what should be pregame show fluff segments in the middle of the actual game.
  4. While I don’t care for the Als, any west team losing is good for us right now
  5. Thomas was a WIL. He made a ton of plays in preseason though. I thought he should/could have replaced Wilson. Some on here liked that Gemmell in the middle too. I’m not sure of any LBs on the NFL cut bubble that have been up here previously.
  6. Figure Lawler back around LD-ish? He’s the only one on the 6 game that we actually know the injury, I have no idea about Wheatfalls timeline. On Lord Keric, he has a cool name and showed better than the other two, but realistically “a little more than the two jabrones” should probably be our highest expectations this year. A receiving corps of Lawler, Woli, Demski, Lucky, Cerculis actually sounds fairly solid.
  7. Yeah she has less of a phys ed teacher vibe than the rest of the panel.
  8. As far as I know it would just be a simulcast of TSN shown on the CTV feeds
  9. Besides that tip off, has Lofton even been bad though? It’s the 3 in the middle. I’d say switch one at a time until it’s fixed Center first, then Neufeld, then Dobson. Talent-wise (correct me if I’m wrong) our best OL to me with our current roster would be Bryant-Wallace-Eli-Vanterpool-Lofton. I don’t think there’s a whole lot in FA. If they want to upgrade it would have to be PR or trade. It’s definitely a moot point but he was in university ball. I don’t really recall how he looked in the limited times got here, I vaguely remember him looking bad at RT in a meaningless game.
  10. Not only is Castillo imo the best FG kicker in the league, he also had a strong case for a GC MOP award. He should be revered around here like Cameron or Medlock when all’s said and done.
  11. Maybe they should move Bighill to the oline
  12. I was under the impression Gray was done with football.
  13. I’m very surprised Calgary in particular didn’t run it down our throats. If he’s coming down on something yes. Where I see him struggling is when he has to turn his hips and get back to full speed.
  14. Or another high end FA I don’t think he has the closing speed to be at FS on the regular. Really, he’s either great depth or a below average starter at any spot.
  15. Jesus, he only makes 25k less than Ardarius Pickett at max value and only 40k less in hard money. That’s ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Probably more nuance than I’m gonna use, but that basically tells me they could have ditched Wilson and Kramdi for Pickett and a rookie WIL. Huge fail.
  16. I’ve thought that about Dobson since his first game, but I’d still like to see how he would be playing next to Ei instead of Kolo.
  17. Kramdi’s not enough of a DB to take all those dime reps. Rather see him at WIL if he has to be out there, but not a fan of him as a starter. For every play he makes, he gets turned around in the short-intermediate game. He’d be the perfect spell/backup/ST guy.
  18. I agree with this part 100%. Should have happened already imo.
  19. If Zach is back starting last week, everything looks like the BC game at absolute best. I like the idea of a 1A/1B like they did in the ‘19 run. I don’t like the idea of Zach starting and Strev just running last years Proukop package. If they go that way, it really is a lost season.
  20. Exactly. I was saying it at the beginning of the year, Zach’s style lends itself less to bad oline play than any QB in the league.
  21. That’s just 3down and their dumb headlines. It wasn’t even ZC, it was a generic Osh quote about “yeah he’s angry, he wants to be out there like any competitor”
  22. He does have ability as a passer. We’re starting a 3rd string WR corps basically. I disagree with your game flow analysis. They went to strev running exclusively when Brady was hurt because the RBs were still dropping guys into coverage. If they’d kept Strev in the pocket, he’d be getting pasted like Collaros was, this is the only way to have any kind of consistent production with the WR group out there. Demski and Woli get all the attention from defences and nobody else can run routes well enough and/or have the speed to stretch the field. When they were using him as a decoy as you say, we were settling for FGs. The crash and bash IS the offence, at least til we get Lawler back, or fix the interior OL.
  23. No one ever said it was sustainable with Strevelers body, we’re saying this is the offence they have right now. ZC being out a week or 12 doesn’t change anything.
  24. We saw hundreds of them walking out of the 2019 WSF early that never came back. I think their stadium experience screwed that franchise for good. As we saw the older (65+) demographic age out of going to games here in Winnipeg, the club did an excellent job of creating a party type atmosphere to draw the 20-something casual fans. Kind of impossible for Calgary to draw any casuals with the dump they’re playing the games at. This is 2024 and they don’t even have backs on the seats afaik. That and Calgarians in general turning their nose up at the CFL paints a pretty rough picture for their future.
  25. They have an all-star receiving corps. A 2019 all-star receiving corps.
