We used to. As much as we don’t get the 2019 GC without the Collaros trade, I don’t think we see it without bringing in Nick Taylor and Mercy Maston either. I think they buggered the cap the last 2-3 years, they haven’t brought anyone helpful in mid-season since 2022, coincidentally when they signed Zach to that huge deal. We’re in the trap that the 2000s Bombers fell into. Paying 5-6 guys the lions share, too many of whom are past their prime. We also have a lot of guys that have slipped into C/D grade players due to age that are still getting B+ roles/money. Your Thomas‘, your a Neufelds and the like. That’s not how a football team with a salary cap should be built at this point. You can’t have both those scenarios simultaneously and win games. We don’t know who has input into what exactly, and MOS had been the lightning rod, but he and Walters wear this equally now imo.

Who takes that WIL spot if Kyrie can’t go? Cole moves over and Kramdi starts? How are they gonna run a 30 front there? Gauthier/Biggie/Kramdi/Cole? I’ll never get over them cutting Tre Thomas. Another of my dying hills

Bingo. Our guy Tre Thomas was a perfect example of this. The guy was making plays against the 1’s. Jake Kelly too, although currently 6-Gamed, but I think he has way more upside than Kramdi, or BA even. The Stamps isolated him 1v1 against Marken Michel, looking for an easy deep shot and Kelly smacked down a jump ball. All he’s done is make plays and big ST tackles in every opportunity.

I’m wondering this too. On one side, Walters and the scouts have brought in some visibly quality players that didn’t/haven’t seen the field, either enough or at all, for reasons we’ve all talked about. Eli in particular I don’t think was brought in to sit on the bench for 4 years. Same with Miles Fox last year. I’ll bet Osh sits Wallace for 3 years too. I would speculate a measure of frustration in the front office. Flip side, I mean, some of the deals Walters made with veteran players appear to be just as clueless as we accuse MOS of being.

Watch the TD to J Peterman at 3:03, and the pass to Augustine at 4:47 (which is the same play they ran to Harris) The accuracy’s there. The arm strength is there. Mobility’s obviously there. The only thing he has left to prove is consistent decision-making in the pocket, which he hasn’t had the opportunity to do.

Now that you mention it, O’Shea is kind of like a friendly Canadian version of Belichick in pressers. (Totally off topic- the book “Belichick” by Ian O’Connor was a tremendous read, I’d highly recommend it if you like sports bios)

The Coaches Show is what it is. If you’re looking for week-to-week stuff it’s pretty awful. Just for balance, cause I feel like I’ve been crapping on a lot lately, and I really do love the Bombers- I have heard MOS on there tell a couple Ron Lancaster stories that had me legit lol. One about Lancaster smoking in the clubhouse all the time, and it making Orlando Steinhauer freak out. It’s better when callers ask him questions about his playing career, or old CFL history stuff. Guy’s choices have been driving us nuts lately, but he does truly love the game.

To me a cooked Neufeld is still better than a center that simply isn’t good enough to be playing pro football. Not that either should be anything more than backups at this point. Ideally Eli and Wallace in and Kolo/Neufeld out. I’ll eat my own hat if that actually happens with this coaching staff though.

The winning formula to me was draft OL and bring in top level FAs every year. We stopped doing the former for whatever reason and Collaros contract, and maybe a couple others doesn’t allow us to do the latter. Imagine Browns deal instead of Zach’s. This past off season, just for a hypothetical, we’d probably see BOLO and/or Bailey back, either Grant, or could have snagged Jovon Leake, and probably a Pete Robinson or a Malik Carney to replace Jeffcoat. You can’t do anything paying 600k to one player in the CFL. Christ, we just saw Mike Reilly’s career get ruined over the same situation just a couple of years ago.

Yeah, it Brady’s out more than a couple of weeks they need to get an American signed. There’s a hundred backs in the states that could come in and offer more in terms of running the ball.

He could be, but I’d argue at this point in his career he has more mobility and quicker decision making to overcome some of that poor oline play. In particular that pick Zach threw over the middle wasn’t because of pressure, he was just telegraphing it. Same with the underthrow that was picked in the endzone against the Als.

not sure how this managed to jump threads… I always thought Wittman was unparalleled. The last 10 or so years of Cuthberts career I feel like he got near that territory. I can’t name another announcer on that level, not in Canada anyway. I always liked Mark Lee after those two, but not even close. TSN always had second rate announcers before Cuthbert jumped from CBC in 05 or whenever.

I agree. He reminds me so much of Joey Styles (wrestling announcer from the 90s)

I’d argue Don Wittman was the greatest, but a Cuthbert is an extremely close second
