  1. I think there is some miscommunication here. I meant game manager as a slur. Unable (or unwilling) to push the ball down the field. Lots of check downs (as evidenced by the 8.87 ypa). What seems like a shortened playbook. Yes the cold will affect QB play and yes his receivers have been banged up, but the past 3 seasons he's gone from MOP level QBing in the regular season to something comparable to Cam Dukes or Shea Patterson from this season
  2. He has essentially gone full game manager in all 8 playoff games he's played as a Bomber
  3. It feels like Coaches are getting younger all the time. O'Shea might actually be the 2nd oldest coach in the league and Khari is older than he is.
  4. Unless the Bombers eke out a tie somewhere the season series is irrelevant. If they both finish on 10 wins, the Riders would finish ahead because they have the extra point afforded to a tie. If they both end up on 20 points (Bombers have 10 wins, Riders have 9 but another tie)... the Bombers finish ahead because they have more wins.
  5. Brett Favre actually told the Packers that he was retiring, and then decided to come back... and then backed out There had been rumours of him retiring as early as 2005. There was no indication I think that Favre was going to play in Green Bay again, but other than that probably the closest fit... they were 13-3, made it to the NFC Championship, he made the Pro Bowl and was 2nd team all-Pro. Montana to Young... Montana was severely injured for almost 2 years and in the meantime Steve Young took the reins. And again... the Rodgers to Love thing, Rodgers had probably his worst season as a pro and had all kinds of baggage going on. I am actually starting to see a bit of a trend here and eagerly await what kind of villainy Love gets up to in 10 years time.
  6. Yeah I don't think the Rodgers comparison is super apt either. Rodgers is even older, Green Bay had a down year, he had a down year and Rodgers had a lot of super weird baggage coming to a head after that season. The Packers also had Love behind Rodgers, which isn't super dissimilar to the Brown situation but having invested a 1st round pick in Love is a lot bigger deal than just having Brown sitting behind Collaros. I hope that they were having those conversations re: Collaros and Brown... but I can see why it never gained any traction. Like just for Comparison sake Rodgers in 2022: Probably the worst season in his career, doesn't even make the Pro Bowl (which is almost impressive for a QB in the NFL who starts all the games for their team lately with all the injury replacements), Green Bay misses the playoffs at 8-9. Talking about how he has been 'immunized' and sharing 9/11 conspiracies on Joe Rogans Podcast. One year removed from being back to back MVP. Collaros in 2023: One of the best seasons of his career, CFL All Star at QB, Probably realistically was 3rd in MOP voting. Bombers make it to the Grey Cup for the 4th straight year at 14-4 in the regular season. By all accounts a great teammate and probably saves puppies with Oliveira in his spare time. If anything Rodgers in 2022 was a preview of Collaros in 2024 (aside from all the weirdo stuff... so far)
  7. Its wild... if you were to tell me at the start of the season going into these games that the Riders were +16 in TOs and the Bombers -8 there would be no way I would guess their records would be 5-5-1 and 5-6.
  8. People keep suggesting having kept Brown like it was a possibility... that move would have been unprecedented in sports, to move on from your QB, who if the MOP candidates were ranked probably would have been #3, to a relatively small sample size backup QB. The problem is that everyone was expecting a somewhat graceful decline in Collaros... but what happened was a huge nosedive. Also, if the Riders refuse to acknowledge the Banjo Bowl and insist on calling it the Labour Day Rematch, can we start referring to the game on Labour Day as the Banjo Bowl Preview? Maybe the Banjo Bowl Backstory to keep it all Bs?
  9. Wasn't the play clock at 1? Time count violation there would be a loss of time and they would be kicking immediately.
  10. Winnipeg has had a historically good fanbase even during the lean years. https://3downnation.com/2021/03/25/how-cfl-attendance-has-changed-over-the-past-fifty-years-with-a-close-look-at-b-c-and-toronto/ The blue line in that shared graph is us
  11. It could be that that is both the minimum and the maximum... I know other leagues if a team doesn't spend to the floor they have to give bonuses to their players to ensure that they do. Could just be verbiage to say you got $110000 (or whatever it is) to spend on marketing... but you have to spend it somehow.
  12. Section 30.03.B on page 99 of the CBA maybe? https://media.cfldb.ca/documents/cfl-cflpa-collective-agreement-2022.pdf Although that sounds like $110K and not $200K
  13. So with Rourke returning and news of a new Elk owner... does the CFL sneak in an update about what is going on with Chad Kelly today and hope that no one notices?
  14. I'm going to watch my fondest Rourke moment in celebration
  15. Its obvious he was having trouble with the crowd noise! I can't imagine that having a note "was unable to co-ordinate a last minute drive in CFL West Final" on his scouting report does much to inspire confidence.
  16. The one thing that has always stuck out to me about Rourke was his last drive against the Bombers in the west finals... he was coming off an injury but seeing him only get off 5 plays in 95 seconds with the chance to tie the game in the CFL was something else. On two plays with the clock running he pretty much let the play clock hit 00s
  17. It's interesting if you look at the stats. In the Regular season he has clear MOP production but as soon as Fall rolls around (it's hard to tell his October production because the last time the Bombers played a meaningful fall regular season game was pre-pandemic) his numbers take a very noticeable dive. He's definitely playing like Playoff Collaros and not Regular Season Collaros right now.
  18. I'm not sure Brown is it either though. 115/184 for 1556 yards (a 8.5 YPA) and 5 TDs vs 4 INTS through 5.5 games vs. 113/173 for 1406 yards (a 8.1 YPA) and 2 TDS vs 7 INTS through 5.5 games The INTS are looking gross for Collaros compared to Brown... there must have been something special going on in the regular season last year to make them both look so good and then the slipper fell off when the regular season ended.
  19. Glad Yoshi got paid. The statement kind of feels like last year and the Riders with Harris, where after his Radial Tibial fracture they made it seem like he could be back at the end of the year... but at the end of the day there probably isn't a lot of optimistic data about a 300+ LB OL who is 34 coming back within 15 weeks from a Quad Injury that requires surgery. If it's a quad tear that is generally a 4-5 month injury.
  20. How many reps overall did he have last week? Was he just in with the short yardage package with Streveler? What is the split over the first 3 weeks? That doesn't seem like great strategy to trot a guy out and only run with him out there.
  21. So was it a non-contact injury for Schoen? It's amazing that you can play a game on Friday and have absolutely no news about an injury to one of the top receivers in the league!
  22. Just seems like a statistical anomaly at this point. Only other QB so far this season to start a game and not throw a TD is Bethel-Thompson last week. That Wolitarsky play is an interesting example because with Collaros not throwing TDs the WRs are obviously not catching TDs... catching the ball behind the 1st down marker and then making it almost another 16 yards to the house is probably a mark in their ledger as opposed to the QBs. Collaros' average depth of target was actually up a tad through 2 weeks of 2024 vs through 20 weeks in 2023 (12.3 depth yards per attempt vs 12.1) but everything else is way off... 3/14 and 0/2 vs 41/91 and 16/3. It's hard to find out this data before the league releases their pdf... glancing at the play-by-play his accuracy might actually improve at that distance because it looks like he went 1-3 (with the 1 being the 24 yarder that Demski got dinged up on)
  23. Yeesh its been 5 full games for Collaros without a TD. 3 to start this season, 0fer in the Grey Cup and 0fer in the West Final. When was the last time a bonafide starter had 5 straight full games of meaningful reps without managing a TD?
  24. We are complaining about Zach not getting enough time but Brown would be in the same situation. I guess you could say for the price of 1 Zach you could have Brown and have kept Hardrick but most people here were 100% in on Hardrick was on the decline. At least with Zach out there you can say he should have the experience to deal with this kind of line play.
  25. I think it would be weird to not have Collaros take any reps in preseason and then not let him try to work through his issues in game 1. Even Streveler only got 2 drives in on preseason... it kind of seemed like a whole offense issue rather than just the QB.
