  2. I really like this signing, Makonzo has a big upside. Can backup Kramdl or safety. Question mark is his ability to bounce back from injury, but likely why we got him on I assume a cap friendly amount. Low risk high reward
  3. I see Lawlers going on about the reason he signed with Hamilton was he sees them winning the grey cup Once again its all rhetoric, he should just say that they made his dream come true as they made him the highest paid nonquaterback player in the league Kenny Lawler believes leaving Winnipeg for Hamilton 'a better move' than Edmonton foray - 3DownNation
  4. Only need 7 the 8th is a fake national american which Bryant qualifies for as does Nichols and Jefferson.
  5. Completely agree with this, going back with the same crew was a recipe for a mediocre saeaon
  6. none of the backup qbs we have do I see as being able to succeed Collaros. Needed to bring in some newer options, However in the CFL with such a short preseason, and adjustments to the cdn game its very difficult to assess potential. To me they are all close to the same level.. Feels like we are bring in these guys to compete at training camp,
  7. and Dukes is better ? kinda made my point.. Just saying Strev and Dukes or Dolegala arent better options
  8. I think your being too harsh ,Patterson beat both Toronto and us last year and had several 300 yard games in the 6 games he started, and was 2-3 and 1. not bad for a qb in his first games. Streveler, whether its playcalling or what, had 1 3/4 games where he had significant minutes, hes 1-1 , threw for 127 and 170 yards. Lost to Calgary.
  9. Also feel that Patterson has more upside in case Zac goes down. Dukes looked good til defenses figured him out (he seemed to have difficulty reading defenses) . He also had a superior oline in front of him. Theres a reason that the Argos turned to Arbuckle near the end of last season, (same applies to Doligala where Patterson beat him out in Riderland I like this move especially if we are using Strev as a running qb, where he could easily get hurt. I like Wilson but not ready to see us depend on him as a starter if needed. Utilize him on the pr to develop and possibly win a backup spot.
  10. yeah but Booch can hound you for a while
  11. Streveler signing doesn't make a lot of sense to me in that we need to find a Dru Brown as potential qb replacement. Strev didn't show a lot last year and was even stopped on 3rd and short where previously it would have been a given. He just takes playing time away from younger guys with potential We need to spend money on the oline if anything as we seemed to have little confidence in them against Toronto or Montreal.
  12. Having 4 higher end recievers Ie lawler Schoen, Mitchell and Demski).doesnt make a lot of sense Theres only one football and it pretty much guarantees 1-2 will be underutilized esp with Zacs tendancy to overuse Lawler. Having White and Sterns gives us better depth against injuries which has been a big issue
  13. We have the edmon argos west, and now Hamilton blue tigers as recycling centers. Whenever teams turnover their rosters to a large degree it takes a lot of time to adjust and end up out before they gel.Youd think hed target a team in his conference to enhance playoff chances
  14. I do think Sterns has a good upside. Very quick and showed elusiveness. Comparable could be mtrl's Snead. (this signing looks like a safety net in case Schoen isnt ready at start of season)
  15. Vernon Adams. Rourke and Kelly all had contracts redone, none of whom risked getting cut.
  16. we lost all negotiation power when we let Brown go, Also ty with MBT avail we could have used that as well
  17. its interesting in looking at the stats of the two players that have reset the wr market Lewis and lawler Lewis in 6 seasons has hit 1000 yds only 3 times, average per season 1033 Lawler in 5 seasons has done it ONCE, averages 822 yds per season In the past two seasons since the market reset. Hardy, Hollins, White and Begelton and surprise Demski have all had more receiving yards. It just doesn't pay to invest in any one receiver the $ these two have and continue to make.
  18. just waiting for the Streveler signing, all that's left is Cole, Augustine Whitehead and Alexander Don't know if I've ever seen an ex gm/coach/scout raid his former club as obviously as Ted has
  19. Interesting that Hamilton has signed 7 players all but 1 ex bombers, and that one is Stubblefield who we also had interest in. ( Hubert, Fox, Garbutt, Wolitarski, Dobson and Lawler))
  20. Re Hogan hiring... why did this take months, when all along OShea was gonna go with the Bomber vet again. (timing strategy is likely to distract us on the lack of impact free agent signings)
  21. Im talking signing about other teams free agents especially this year when we are hosting the grey cup. As likely the most profitable franchise right now we can afford it, and as fans would really like to see that "big" signing. It seems we do the worst job in the league of replacing thru free agency quality free agents that leave this year we lost Lawler and Ford and who knows possibly Dobson. Replacements? last year Hardrick , Jeffcoat, we bring in a retread- Lofton (who did fairly well but not the same level, ) and try to go with rookies. We over spend on trying to keep our vets like Thomas Kramdl Lawton and even Lawler
  22. Its not the losing of starters that irks me, it the lack of signing significant upgrades or replacement.of equal quality starters. If we are negotiating against several teams its almost a given we are not getting that player. At one point can we not just show some b@lls and go all in even if its an overpay for one elite player?
  23. hope tsn isn't planning a big day in free agency coverage on the 11th, at this rate they are gonna have to spend the time talking about ac leonard
  24. Most free agent players go the dollars lead them period. otherwise many wouldnt be free agents. Culture etc may help in retention but not in attracting new players.
  25. Holm is listed as 180 and if they are exaggerating then likely Cobb is as well. Im not saying there isnt room for undersized players just not on kick coverage unless they are truly exceptional
