I was worried when we first signed Thorburn to that contract, but I think he is having one of his best seasons as a Jet this year.

This is a few extra steps from just highlighting and copying text from a tweet, but the display is much better when you get the actual tweet embedded. Assuming you see the Tweet in the Twitter feed, click on the name of the person who has the Tweet you want to embed so that it opens in Twitters website. At the bottom of the tweet you will see three dots (...) Click on that then choose Copy Link to Tweet. A pop up will appear with the link highlighted. Use CTRL-C to copy this. Use CTLR-V to paste the link in your post. Thats all you have to do. The site will recognize the URL and convert it to an embedded tweet.

Needed a clean 2 points on this. I hate these off setting penalties with embellishment. Nashville diving all night long. Most of the time there never would have been a penalty called if there wasn't the dive to begin with, so the dive should be the only thing that is called. That would stop them pretty damn quickly.

Hope Buff isn't hurt too badly. Looked awkward the way he went down on his arm.

The real question here is why do you have Rider fans on your timeline?

I've never heard people talk like this. I think it has been generally acknowledged by Jets fans that we won't be a prime destination for FAs, especially while the club doesn't have a good record of making it to the playoffs.

Rumour: Wylie to join Browns New HC Hue Jackson as Oline Coach

If talks get that serious he will ask for the list. But unless someone offers the moon right now, why wouldn't you wait till closer to the deadline when the salaries will allow more teams to be in on it.
-
Or Chevy won't ask for the list until trade talks really heat up. If he asks Buff for the list, that usually leaks out, and I don't think Chevy is ready to concede to the media that he is shopping Buff. Buff and Ladd won't get traded until we are closer to the deadline, so any talks right now are very high level and ball park. Besides , if he does get traded, it will be to a contender pushing for a run at the cup. Can't see him turning that down, no matter what team, if he is only going to be committed to playing there for a few months. I could see him not wanting to go to Buffalo, but they aren't even close to a playoff picture.

They were a big time battered and bruised group heading into the playoffs last year. I wonder if they tried to layoff the physicality a bit this year in hopes of being fresher. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as though they are talented enough as a group to make it into the playoffs without that style of play.

The fans who end up selling out a playoff game aren't the hardcore who may be jaded and fooled once too many times. They are the fans who come out to watch a team win and don't even pay attention when the team is losing. If we are hosting a playoff game it means we are top 2 in the West. There will have been enough wins to achieve that to generate buzz and excitement.

Hedging only works for so long. If the dollar stays low the Jets will for sure stay on the low side of the cap.

I think you underestimate the fan base here and how starved they are for a good team. If we have a season where we are good enough to host a playoff game, the fans will come out. In fact in the early / mid 2000's playoff attendance dwindled only after multiple years with playoff games as it wasn't a novelty anymore. The opposite of what you suggest It has been long enough that it would be a novelty again. Especially the first Bomber playoff game in IGF.

What were we paying Nick Moore?
-
His Twitter timeline over the last little while was an interesting read. His take home from the Grey Cup cheque after taxes and conversions to US was like $2K - 3K. The playoff bonus money for players hasn't gone up in years. Also complaining about how SK can afford to pay Chris Jones close to $1M but the players make very little (and for the most part he is trying to stick up for the players make league minimum, not his $160k). Also pretty vocal about what the players gave up or didn't get during the last CBA. Now, I don't think Twitter is necessarily the best medium for how he is going about this. But he has some valid points. In what other sports league do the players make less then the coaches and GMs. The problem of course is that the CFL is not the premiere football league and the best talent will either go to the NFL or they won't. And if they don't, they don't have many other options if they want to stay in football. So there is lots of supply. This isn't true for the NFL, NHL, NBA. MLB. Those players are pretty much the top players in the world playing in the top leagues.

I know he isn't having a great season but I would consider Higgins. 2.5M this year and next. He could help our PK. Has to be better than Peluso.

Did quick search on who else might have a CFL feed. CBC does. Curiously, CFL.ca doesn't seem to have an RSS feed.
-
It really depends on what people want to and don't want to see in there. It basically takes an RSS feed and converts it to posts in the forum. To only get Bomber or CFL news from a news site, they would have to have a designated feed for just that sport or team (Free Press and Sun provide this which is why they were the only two added when I first set it up). In TSN's case, they currently only have 1 feed. So if I add it, all of their articles come in (which if people would want / like , I can do it). Their website does mention this: We are currently working on more RSS feeds, and will eventually have sport-by-sport RSS feeds in the future. For the metro, same thing. Their current RSS feeds are separated by: News Canada World Calgary Edmonton Halifax Ottawa Toronto Vancouver Winnipeg Sections Views Entertainment Food Health Money Drive Sports Your Home Horoscopes Features Crossword and Sudoku Answers So it would either be all Winnipeg news or all Sports news (I'm guessing the sports would be for all cities) Alternatively (and this would take a little more investigation to know for sure), I think I could get rid of the News Forum all together and collate everything into a true RSS feed similar to the Twitter feed. We'd have to figure out positionally where it would make most sense to have on the website.

Ehlers can still be sent down for a conditioning stint even though he has junior eligibility. But it would have to be a legitimate reason, not just because he isn't playing well. It would have to be because he is coming back from an injury or something along those lines. In 2008, Bogosian (in his rookie year with junior eligibility), he was sent down for conditioning after a broken leg.

I'm all good with the discussion here on this. I don't take it personally at all. I'd rather have more people chime in with their thoughts. I'm not even 100% in favour of keeping it. I just play devils advocate and ask questions from a different point of view. I still don't understand how it is wasted space, it doesn't hurt anything by being there. If you don't like it don't use it. Some people don't ever read General. Should I get rid of that too? I don't think it degrades your experience of the website by being there. And there are people who still use it And to discussion. I don't think it was ever meant to have discussion. Just a one stop place to get daily CFL news articles. I for sure use it a lot less with the FP pay wall but the Sun articles are still valid. It also lets people know what is happening in CFL news even by just article titles. I'm also hopeful at some point the FP reverses their stance on this Twitter doesn't replace it because you have to be reading the timeline at the right time before the tweet about it gets buried.

Not saying there isn't merit to shutting it down, but I am curious what you think we would be able to add there that we don't have now? It isn't like there is mutually exclusive space on the forums. If there is something useful you think we can add, we can add it regardless of whether the news feed is there or not. My basic thoughts on this are that it hurts no one to have it there. If you don't like it, don't use it. Unless it really annoys a majority of members to see the articles and not be able to read them, what does it hurt?

It does happen with the @ symbol but you should just be able to type and space away from it if you aren't selecting a member. I can't get it to happen with #
