  1. I believe GBill already agreed / admitted / said that it was just a theory. Can we get back to the topic at hand instead of arguing semantics?
  2. I can accept that as an excuse for the first drive or two, but not the first half.
  3. The only wasted vote is the one that isn't made. Even a spoiled ballot is better then not exercising your right to vote.
  4. Saskbluefan has closed the gap on Blueandgold down to 1 correct pick. 1st place - Blueandgold (48) 2nd place - Saskbluefan (47) 3rd place - bigg jay (44) Leader board can be seen here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=leaderboard&pid=6&wid=87 This weeks picks have to be in by Friday @ 6PM. Picks can be made here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=games&pid=6&wid=88
  5. I'm glad Miller stood his ground on this one, and I'm also a huge Jets fan and season ticket holder. The Heritage Classic within weeks of the Grey Cup would have had an affect on Grey Cup sales. We get one Grey Cup every 10 years. You don't put it at risk for a rental fee on the stadium.
  6. This is a horrible horrible thing.
  7. I'm on the fence about bringing O'Shea back or not next season. It really depends on what day of the week you ask me. However, I do believe giving Mike O'Shea an extension at this point would be an absolute disaster. .390 <-- That is this franchises winning percentage over the last decade. All of that is definitely not on O'Shea and Walters, but it is what this fan base has had to suffer through and the reality of the situation they have to deal with. Extending a coach who is 12 - 22 would be sending the wrong message for season ticket renewals.
  8. Here comes minority supporting voice for Buff on this site.People around me in Alberta (mostly Olier and Flame fans) are fascinated that some of our fan base want to trade Buff. I'm in that group as well. I'd like to have Buff for three to four more years than free him up if anyone wants him. Yes I think I know his liabilities (which at certain points can be maddening) but I strongly believe his strengths outweigh those risks. Ladd and Buff are playing for big time contracts right now. My fear with Buff is the term of the contract. I would only want 4 years max and even with that I think we would be over paying him in the last year or two. As Buff ages I fear the drop off for him will come fast and hard.
  9. This deal doesn't sound as bad as what the City Of Winnipeg guaranteed Shenkarow when the Jets 1.0 left, but you have to wonder if it really is worth injecting public funds to prop up a sports franchise that has been losing around $30 Million annually. http://www.tsn.ca/potential-panthers-bailout-quashes-quebec-city-relocation-whispers-1.377849
  10. Going to be at the game tonight. Should be a very entertaining game.
  11. Our half time is not long, so if you want people to perform in the center of the field, you really can't have much, if any stage there. So that means that the stage has to go at one end of the stadium or the other, I'm at a loss as to where else one could put it. Don't see too much conspiracy here. Haven't they put the stage for the half time show for pretty much every other Grey Cup in the past two decades on the field? I'm pretty sure other Grey Cups have even managed to have the stage in the middle of the field. Suddenly now, in 2015 the half time is not long enough to do it?
  12. I don't really agree. If you are entrenched in a playoff hunt you don't trade away two key pieces. No team does and I'm pretty sure the Jets wouldn't. Hypothetical here. If we are in 1st or 2nd in the Central, do you still trade them? Just trying to figure out what the cutoff is. You trade them both to set us up for years but by the point those pieces become contributing members of the team, you have the same decision with Wheeler and Myers ( or Scheifele and Trouba). What is your point when the Jets become buyers?
  13. Deleted a number of posts in here. Please try to keep the discussion to the topic at hand or discussing / refuting the opinions people post. No need to get personal and insulting other posters. A few days left people....
  14. Blueandgold leads the way with 46 correct picks. Saskbluefan in 2nd with 43 and bigg jay rounding off the top 3 with 40 correct picks. Leaderboard can be seen here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=leaderboard&pid=6&wid=86 Four weeks of regular season and three weeks of playoffs remain! Get your picks in for this week before Friday @ 6:30. Picks can be made here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=games&pid=6&wid=87
  15. How is that a lefty thing? No matter who wins there will be people saying the wrong guys won. Otherwise the vote would be unanimous.
  16. BC and Winnipeg cannot mathematically host a playoff game. Edmonton and Calgary have it tied up. Best either team can do is 3rd in the West.
  17. Depending on what has been said and done with negotiations, I would consider trading him if they don't think he is going to be back next year.
  18. It is easy to say that but the work to get the funding, the land, the buy in is very difficult and complex. Look at the outrage there was when they tore down Eatons. Many competing groups and diversified interests all play a part. They built the best arena they could at the time and had the foresight to make sure it would be big enough IF the NHL ever returned. It is a little cramped and small for total size, but it is part of the charm that has accompanied the return of the Jets.
  19. CGY (11-4) & EDM (11-4) are battling for the first round bye and WSF homefield advantage. If both keeps their winning ways it would be a tight race to the finish. I believe CGY has the tie-breaker. Same thing in the East for HAM (9-5), TOR (9-5) and OTT (8-6). HAM has all the tie-breakers. Ths is a tight 3-race (WSF home, ESF home, 3rd West/crossover) to the finish. I see no team resting players. The standings on CFL.ca currently has Edmonton in 1st place and Calgary in 2nd. So I think Edmonton has the tie breaker.
  20. Apologize for the outage. The company that hosts the website experienced a huge outage that took a lot longer to get back up than it should of.
  21. Mostly special teams. In years passed those backup Canadian receivers that seem to be missing from this roster would play on teams and be backups in case of injury. (Unless your name was Jade Etienne)
  22. Just wondering, do these polls reach people through social media or are they conducted as in the past, strictly by phone? • Ballot tracking reflects only the first choice given by decided voters • A national dual-frame (land+cell) random telephone survey is conducted nightly by Nanos Research throughout the campaign using live agents. Each evening a new group of 400 eligible voters are interviewed. The daily tracking figures are based on a three-day rolling sample comprised of 1,200 interviews. To update the tracking a new day of interviewing is added and the oldest day dropped. The margin of error for a survey of 1,077 decided voters is ±3.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20. • The margin of error for weekly surveys before Sept. 4 is ±3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20 This is way off topic, but if there are any statisticians out there, can you tell me why they phrase things like this. Is the margin of error +/- 3 or not .... if this happens to be the 20th time, what is the margin of error? Or is it completely unknown? 19/20 is 95% so why not just build that other 5% of uncertainty into the +/- 3. It all seems a little hodge-podge.
