At least you can fast forward. I'm getting tired of sitting in IGF knowing we have absolutely no chance of winning and having those thoughts confirmed by the end of the first half. There have been a far disportionate amount of games in that stadium where that has been the case. I'll still be there live for the rest of this year and of course next year and going forward, but this franchise is going to start having a problem selling season tickets and filling the stands if they keep putting this kind of product on the field. At this point I would be happy if I could watch a game where we are competitive and in the game until the end, even if we end up losing.... I miss going to games and expecting the Bombers to win.

Check out this tackle that caused a brawl in an NFL preseason game. The receiver is picked up and driven head first into the ground. Horribly dangerous tackle. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000517896/article/steve-smith-chris-culliver-ejected-after-fight

Isn't this true of any scout / GM relationship? Or any superior / direct report? If you can't convince your boss of something you want, he/she over rules you.

Interesting start to the week. Only Mr Dee had the foresight to know that Montreal would win tonight.

Here is a concept picture of the new scoreclock. You can see that Jets logo in the middle of it. I guess with flat screen technology what it is today, you don't need the space inside the score clock.

I was wondering if those numbers were based on the gross number of successful conversions, or % of successful conversions. Using percentages for a number of those categories would make more sense than the raw numbers.

I also wonder how much he had on him. Would they go through this whole process if he only had a small amount, like a single prescription / pill container on him. I don't know how "picky" the border officers are and if they would be more lenient once they saw who he was and how much of a spotlight on it (ie just confiscate them). If they are as hard to get as you say, maybe it is easier to get them down south and Mike was bringing a supply back with him to last him through the off season.

Cleaned up some posts in the thread. Keep it on discussion and stop the pissing matches by dragging down posters. Really shouldn't have to lock another thread here. You don't need to insult someone if you disagree with them.

It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...

I would love to read your rationale behind this statement to be honest. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, I just want to know why you are saying that before I decide if you're out of your mind or have some validity to it. I was actually thinking about this the other day.... Other then a game against Tor that SK lost by 25 points and a game against Edm they lost by 10 points, 2 of their losses have been by 4 points, 3 losses by 3 points, and 1 loss by 2 points. For a team that lost both their #1 and #2 QBs a couple of games in the season, to be a field goal away from 4 more possible wins / ties isn't bad. The Bombers had Willy for most of the season, and even with Willy, the Bombers losses have been by 26, 1, 29, 30, 7 points. While the Bombers wins have been by 4, 2, and 10 points. I know it is tough to look purely at the score to compare the two because the score dictates so many decisions in the 4th quarter, but a couple of plays going the other way and the Bombers could easily be 0 - 8 right now while SK could have 2 - 3 wins. QBing is now a wash between both teams (unproven rookies with maybe an edge to SK for having a bit more experience). Then consider how many blowouts the Bombers have lost in (with Willy) and how many games in which we were done by half time, and the games coming up against SK aren't guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination. SK has been in most of their games with a chance to win right up to the end of the game. The Bombers have lost 3 blowouts where there was no chance for a comeback in the 4th quarter and some games by the 3rd quarter. I wouldn't at all be surprised if we lose both games against SK. Then again maybe I'm just getting conditioned to the Bombers losing over the past number of seasons. -

If the Jets really want to trade Buff and a contending team is offering enough in return, the Jets could easily absorb a few million of his salary for this year to get the other team under the cup. Buff's contract is up after this year so they only need to fit that under the cap next year. It would be a team who thinks they are missing that one piece to make a push next year and not necessarily intent on re-signing Buff after next year. That is why a trade like this isn't the easiest to make. Limited teams to make it with.

There is no way we trade him at the trade deadline if we are in a playoff hunt. You either have to trade him now or early in the season where there are pieces that are at least some pieces coming back that can help now. Similar to what we did with Kane, but those trades are much much harder to make during the season. It was a unique situation last year with Buffalo tanking. Here is an interesting article that ranks the top 5 free agent defensemen for 2016. Byfuglien is ranked 3rd. They give the chances of him hitting free agency 8 / 10. This summer it was defensemen getting all the money in free agency. Can't really see that changing next year. Wonder what kind of talks Chevy has been having. http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/2015/08/20/top-free-agent-defensemen-in-2016-ranking-1-5/

Apparently Stempniak wanted to come back to the Jets, but wasn't given an offer. Jets want to go with a youth movement. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/free-agent-stempniak-wanted-to-remain-a-jet/

If I understand that, they mean I could sign up using YOUR email address. Hmmm. if thats true, its another strike against Ashley Madison for NOT sending verification emails. I guess the argument to using your legitimate email address is if you're actually "buying" an account, you're providing your real credit card number so why not. Or people are signing up "in the moment" and dont go to the trouble of creating a "fake" email address for this one thing. Or they have a secure email address (meaning their spouse doesnt have access) so what does it matter if they use their real one. And I'd suspect that for the people using work email its either their only email address or they figure its safer in that their spouse will never access it. I know several people who share one email address between spouses or who have liberal access to each other's email. There is only about a billion places out there you can get a free "new" email address. Surely most people have heard of gmail or hotmail or yahoo mail.

Hacking and all that aside, but ... who is foolish enough to use their work email address to signup for something like this?

This is a pretty good breakdown of Ladd and how he compares to similar players from the Illegal Curve guys. http://illegalcurve.com/2015/07/06/what-is-the-fair-market-value-of-jets-captain-andrew-ladd/ Their comparable players: Parise's and Spezza's contracts take them to a similar age to what a 7 year deal would for Ladd, so $7M is probably in the range. I just wonder how happy those teams are going to be playing those players that salary when they are in their mid 30s. Their suggested salary is: $7.0 million per season on a four-year term $6.75 million per season on a five-term term $6.5 million per season on a six-year term and $6.25 million per season on a seven-year term.

7 years is too long for him to be making 7 million. He will be 30 when that contract kicks in. More than I really want to pay, but could stomach it for 4 years because we have the cap space to afford it (at least for the first half of it). Paying him that much when he is 35+ is not good.

Media didn't say it, I did. Petan has played against boys bigger than him, never against men who are as big or as fast as a fully developed NHL player. Lets see how he does the first time he gets checked into the boards by someone who is 220+ pounds or tries to beat NHL calibre defensemen and goalies. Scheifele has been in the NHL for two years now and still can't stay on his feet against bigger men. As to where this comes from, here are a few recent players comparable in size and skill potential: Nik Petan - 5'9" 166 lbs - 20 years old Tyler Johnson - 5'9" 175 lbs - Spent two years in the AHL before making the NHL Johnny Gaudreau - 5'9" 150 lbs - Never played in the AHL but he took the US College route. He made the NHL last year at age 21. Or how about the fact that on opening day last year 83% of the players on NHL rosters spent time in the AHL. High first round draft picks and US College prospects tend to be those who don't graduate from the AHL. If the only thing Petan can do is play power play and the 4th line it will be detrimental to his development into a complete player. Maurice's system needs players to play a complete 200 foot game, and for Petan to get the ice time he needs, he will need to be defensively responsible as well as making plays in the offensive zone. He needs to learn that defensive responsibility, and doing that against men in the AHL where it won't hurt the Jets. I'd be thrilled if Petan shows enough to make the big club next year, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.
