  1. Ya just have to wonder who encourages him to come up with that ****. Mrs. Black?
  2. Ugly pick from Burris to get things going, Would really like to see Ottawa stay hot for this game.
  3. I'll give credit to Friesen for publishing an alternative view to his prior article. Dunigan ways in on the Willy hit and says he believes Willy didn't suffer a concussion. Whatever side of the fence you fall on, or whatever you believe, truth is only Willy really knows what happened, how he was hit, and whether or not he lost consciousness. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/07/09/blue-bombers-quarterback-drew-willy-not-afraid-to-take-a-hit-vs-alouettes
  4. Is that allowed? I thought if you have junior eligibility left you have to go back to junior. You are correct. He will either be with the Jets or sent back down to Juniors next year. No Moose for Lemieux.
  5. The best sports writers in the country don't cover the CFL. Why would you expect the best from the B Team? You are pretty quick to criticize the club and coaches but happy to give the media a pass. The best athletes in the country don't play in the CFL. Why would you expect the best from B players and coaches?
  6. Two weeks in and people are starting to separate themselves. Picking has been tough in the first couple weeks of the CFL season as teams establish their pecking orders. Fist place is currently a four-way tie between: Blueandgold Jacquie Mark F USABomberFan All with 5 out of 8 correct picks. Week 3 picks need to be in before 8PM on Thursday. Picks can be made here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=games&pid=6&wid=73
  7. There is a difference between reporting nothing (ie. not tweeting at all) And reporting that you are doing nothing.
  8. I disagree with this. In this new media age, tweeting is part of their job. It should be used to push followers / readers to their columns. It should be to gain trust from and expand their followers base to drive more traffic to their respective papers. Those tweets do nothing to make me want to read tomorrow's column. At least for Bob Irving, he doesn't have a column.
  9. I think it will end up being an AAV of just over $6M per year ... around $6.2 Hopefully doesn't take him past 35.
  10. Paul Friesen: paul.friesen@sunmedia.ca Bob Irving: http://www.cjob.com/contact-bob-irving/
  11. Just some good ol' boys Never meanin no harm
  12. I don't think Petan will stick with the club if he is put on the 4th line. He will be better served getting top line minutes with the Moose. However, the only way I could see it happening, is if Maurice goes with a big change in how the 4th line is used. No doubt that the Jets early playoff exit was in part to injury and the amount of minutes the top line guys logged. It was often a story about how little the Jets 4th line is used when compared to some of the other teams with better depth like St Louis. I wonder if they put more skilled guys down there, if they don't get more playing time. A possibility, but I find it an unlikely scenario.
  13. I'm skeptical. Got an example? edit see you gave an example. That's one. maybe. being promoted after demoted doesn't sound like much punishment. And If there are consequences to the refs, they should let us fans know, might reduce the anger that people feel when refs like this one blow it so badly, and as far as I know, there is no consequence. If there is, tell us. Every body in football is subject to public criticism except the refs. Makes no sense to me. The refs performance are reviewed each week with what they did well and what they missed. If you want them to be held accountable with fines, I do not believe that happens. They are held accountable in terms of future work and promotions / bonuses to ref playoff games, etc. I don't believe refs should be held accountable or fined in the public. Refs already take enough crap from fans. It should stay between the league and the teams. I don't know how much a CFL ref makes, but I can't imagine being all that much compared to other professional sports (6 figures). Good luck attracting better qualified people if their names and reputation are going to be dragged through the papers as well. At least with a player or coach you have the chance to get accolades and recognition with a job well done. Win a Grey Cup? Get a ring. Make a good play? Get on the highlight reel. Tops at what you do? Get paid in free agency. Do your job as a ref? No one notices, it is just expected you get everything right. Screw up? Have 30,000 people screaming obscenities at you and your employer throwing you under the bus.
  14. I still remember the still photo of Alex Brink being hit in the chin by a Montreal helmet and being sent flying, while Murray Clarke just watches impassively and makes no move to throw a flag. That's how I know refs are held accountable. Clarke has been demoted a couple of times. The real question is why they kept promoting him.
  15. Refs are held accountable. Just not publicly.
  16. The right hand side is the leaderboard for the week. So that is your two correct picks. The left hand side is the overall leaderboard. You would be in that tie with 3 picks, but it looks like it cuts off after the top 25 so you aren't displayed. If you want to double check, go here: http://morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=week&pid=6 At the very bottom it should say: You have made X correct picks out of a total of X games picked in this pool.
  17. This has been fixed. For anyone who already has their picks in, the team you originally picked is still picked. You can still change them up until Thursday at game time.
  18. I should look at the settings. I don't think a tie is an option. Meaning I wouldn't be able to put in a result. So no one would get a win or loss on the game.
  19. We really don't need any more D. We have 9 under contract right now. Enstrom Myers Chiarot Trouba Stuart Byguflien Postma Pardy Harrisson Then Clitsome if he can play next year. A top 6 forward and a 4th line winger would be nice. Don't think the top 6 is really out there though.
  20. Here is a link to the Petan cam. The footage from the camera is actually kind of disappointing, I wonder if it would have been better if it was on his head rather than chest. http://video.jets.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=831713&catid=96
  21. Pretty much. Perreault is a centre at 5'10" 185 that plays mostly on the wing with the Jets. Petan is 5'9" 165. Granted Petan has time to put some weight on, but even 20 pounds to get to Perreault's playing weight is a lot for someone his size. Speed is a big part of Petan's game, and even Ehlers was saying in this training camp that he noticed his speed take a hit when he put on a lot of weight fast. Petan will be able to make the roster sooner on the wing. Always exceptions of course. Tyler Johnson from Tampa Bay is 5'8" 183 lbs and plays centre.
  22. I'd be shocked if Petan ends up playing centre in the NHL.
  23. Totally agree. What the **** were the refs looking at? There should be a suspension and fine. The ref should also be fined for missing the call. The coach should be giving permission to the oline to go after any player that cheap shots our qb. Time to start sending a message to other teams that this **** won't go unpunished. I hope Walters has sent the film to the commish What I don't understand is how the Bomber hogs let that cheap shot artist live They have been hired to protect the QB
  24. Were the CHL kids and the USHL kids kind of keeping to their separate groups? The CHL kids probably all know each other, as well as the USHL kids probably all know each other, but there's no doubt been limited interaction between the two groups. Was Chase Deleo at the camp? He'd kind of be a bridge to both sides, given he played on the US National World Junior team. Couldn't really tell who was sticking to groups, everyone pretty much left the ice after practice other then the three I mentioned of the Group B players. Didn't stay till the end to watch all of the Group A players. De Leo was at camp. He has got some speed to burn.
