  1. Add me to the list of people who prefer Royal Blue. Currently wear my Royal Blue Walby to the games (bought a few years back when they re-released the Royals), and won't be buying another jersey with the current design.
  2. Deleted a bunch of posts in here regarding the rumors of Bogosian. Thought it would just die on its own, but apparently people like to keep arguing rumours that they themselves posted as probably being false. It is one thing to have open discussion on a message board, it is quite another to propagate unfounded rumors and gossip.
  3. How does this work for someone like Armia? What years are we burning? Sorry I'm a noob at NHL contract stuff. Actually, it probably doesn’t affect Armia as much as I forgot he is already playing the minors. For Junior players, the magic number is 9. If they play 10 games in the NHL, they burn 1 year of their 3 year entry level contract. So if you have an 18 / 19 year old player who you think will be sent back down to juniors, you don’t want to play him that 10th game in a season, or you burn one year of that cheap entry level deal. The bigger one would be the 40th game. If a player plays 40 NHL games, then he has accrued one year of service towards the seven years required to become an UFA. We are far enough along that there aren’t 40 games left in the season. What I don’t know is if playoffs count towards those 40. Also, Armia is 21, and you become a UFA at either 7 years of NHL or at the age of 27. He hasn't burnt any RFA years yet, but because of his age, it doesn't matter if we burn one now. He will be a UFA at 27 regardless. If he is ready, bring him up!
  4. Unless we get major injuries, would be surprised to see Armia up this year. Without seeing first hand what he can do with this team and system, it is risky to bring him up this late in the season and burn a year of eligibility.
  5. Trade is now complete and approved by the NHL. Cormier sent down to St. Johns. Chevy about to address the media.
  6. And ... I hope Kane is happy in the wonderful metropolis of Buffalo Not that there is anything wrong with Buffalo, just have always got the feeling Kane wants to really be in one of the big cities.
  7. Myers is a cap hit of 5.5M He makes $5M this year and next. Then goes down to 4, 3.5 and 3. Bogo is a cap hit of 5.132M. Makes $4M this year then up to 5.25, 5.25, 5.5 and 6 Kane is a cap hit of 5.25M. Makes $6M this year and the remaining years on his contract. Stafford makes $4M this year. Does this open up enough cash to re-sign Frolik?
  8. There was a tweet I saw earlier that said our payroll has gone down with this trade. Especially with Buffalo retaining half of Stafford's salary. I do know Myers contract was front loaded, so we get a deal on the money we pay him starting next year or the year after. Since we aren't a cap team, this is a great deal for us. Frees up some cash to sign / re-sign some other players.
  9. Well this sucks for my white Bogo jersey I've had for two years waiting for the playoffs Need to digest the rest of it.
  10. Just to add. If Bogo is going with Kane. There has to be a whole lot more then Myers coming back.
  11. Thing is if we get Myers there is a huge glut of RH d men. So something has to give. Bogo and Myers are about the same age and similar contract. One year less on Myers but his contract was front loaded so his later years are cheaper then his cap hit. Myers probably has an edge offensively. The X factor is his size. He is like 6'6 or 6'7. But right now weighs about the same as Bogo. People have long wondered if he cal fill out does he become a Chara. Chara wasn't the player he is today until 27 / 28
  12. Wonder if Bogo goes back to the Sabres if Myers is involved in the trade.
  13. Sure, it deserves its own thread.
  14. If you listen to some of Walters interviews prior to free agency, he has basically said that the long term plan is to build through scouting and the draft. But where the team is today doesn’t allow them to do that. There was a huge void of talent and new players coming in the pipeline. So this year we went big into FA to stock up the roster. I don’t expect this much activity in future years either. At this point the new guys the scouting department brings in should start making their way into the lineup when we have injuries and able to prove themselves. There were articles this morning calling out what the Bombers did yesterday and saying they overspent. It really isn’t that much different to what Hamilton had to do when they were getting out of their years of mediocrity. Same with Calgary many years ago. Going forward, if Walters and his staff do their job, we can start replacing and grooming from within. Adding a few pieces here and there to compliment what they have. It may sound funny, but ideally you turn into a Calgary who lost a whole lot in FA yesterday. But it means you have a system in place where you groom and build from within and can absorb those losses. You can pick and choose the best of the best on who you want to keep and spend money on. You just need a solid base before you can do that.
  15. Chatter on Twitter this morning is that the talks between Winnipeg and Buffalo for Kane are really heating up. It may be spiteful, but I'd much prefer to see Kane get traded to a rebuilding team like Buffalo then get rewarded and traded to a contending team in the off season. Of course the best deal for the Jets trumps all that....
  16. I got a chuckle out of Lapo's reply to Penton on Twitter Tell us how you really feel, Paul
  17. Nice to see Willy reaching out to the new players. Good leadership quality.
  18. Bombers sign OL Marc Dile. Does this mean we are out on Bryant?
