Now it just gets sad. Stuart gone till February.

Checked the waiver wires over the last couple of days. Only D-man that would be eligible to be picked up I think is Shane O'Brien from Florida (was placed on waivers yesterday) Can't say I'm overly familiar with him but he has over 500 NHL games played in an 8 year career. -

stat - ic - lacking in movement, action, or change, especially in a way viewed as undesirable or uninteresting. Are you sure you wouldn't be jumping up and down with excitement?

Well there is an agreement in place for the NHL and KHL to honor each others contracts. So there is that....
-
There is a bit of a buzz lately with the KHL players. Russian teams have contracts in Rubles, and with the volatility of the Ruble over the last little while, some players contracts have become worth half of what they had signed for (when compared to American dollars). Some speculation that a lot of NHL quality players may be looking to leave the KHL and come back to the NHL. Not sure how or if they can get out of their KHL contracts to do this...

I don't think it is overly positive for a team that has lost its top 3 D men. If we can go .500 while we deal with these injuries, I would be extremely happy.

Stand Pat & Tweak or ... Make Real Changes
Rich replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Why? Why are we trying to keep a losing team together? Why are we always so intent on keeping the guys we have when it was obvious they couldn't get the job done? I came up with a list of 12 Canadians and 13 Americans that are "must-keep", in my opinion. That leaves room for a ton of roster movement, and I think it would be justified. Getting rid of players for the sake of getting rid of them isn't a good thing either. You need to find better players then what you are cutting, or you are no further ahead. Economically speaking, you can't replace half your roster with free agents, you can't fit that under the cap. So you need to go with unknown imports if you want that kind of turnover. Training camp roster sizes are quite large to bring in a bunch of guys to look at, and even then you never really know what you are going to get with someone until they are in a real game scenario. You also don't want a large portion of your roster being players who have never played a CFL game before. That is a recipe for disaster. Best you can hope for is 3 - 4 impact free agents and 2 - 3 rookie imports to really make your club better. -

Other then draft picks and a few big name free agents, what else does anyone expect? We won't know anything about the new imports the scouting staff brings in until we are a little ways into the season. -
Postma is not playing tonight?
-
I've always said fight fire with fire when it comes to these types of people/groups. When it's obvious it's not a legit call, play along acting the part of a buffoon with great 'interest' in their 'offer'. Things like not understanding their instructions having them repeat them over and over again, providing them with fictitious numbers one number short in what their asking (e.g., visa, account numbers), putting them on hold while you go 'get' what they ask for talking in the background so they can hear you, the list goes on and on. I'm guessing comedygeek has a few he could share. Keep them on the line as long as you can to waste their human resources so they can't hook someone else who may fall to their scheme. The more of us who take this approach would help shut some of these outfits down and you can have some fun while you do it. Win Win :-). I simply don't have the time or patience to do this. Sure this wastes their time, but it wastes my time too.

Chevy is probably also trying to hedge his bets. What happens if another D-man goes down tonight?
-
Reported on TSN 1290 today that Chevy was asking around looking to trade a bottom 6 forward for a 5 / 6 D Man. I imagine they were trying to delay the Trouba news as long as possible before that price would go up.
-
I wouldn't do that trade. I would do something like Kane and one of Comrie / Hellebuyck / Hutchinson for Hall. Edmonton needs goaltending, and we seem to have an abundance of good prospects. Probably not enough going back to Edmonton for that, but throw in a pick and / or another prospect.

I hear Tortorella is looking for work. He'd find right in with Edmonton

Slava Voynov Domestic Incident Details
Rich replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Yes or no on Lombardi being out of touch with reality. The article said that today was the first time they released that information on the investigation. There is no reason for the Police to have shared any information on the investigation with Lombardi. Lombardi made those statements last month, so it really depends on how much and what he knew. If he only had Voynov's side of things, and Voynov lied or played down what hapened, then he might have had a different point of view on things. If he had all the details and / or still thinks that now, then yes, shame on him and he is out of touch with reality. -
The problem for Henoc in the NFL with the Special Teamers is that GMs will always want to give precedence to their draft picks to not only give them playing time to develop but will favor them because they invested a draft pick on them. You have to be an absolute beast to stay on as a special team player. If you are equal or only marginally better, they will keep the draft pick over you. Politics come into play.

The whole team didn't play very well tonight. Lots of unforced turnovers, Jets fighting the puck all night. Hutch has the bad misplay on the puck, but other then that really didn't play horrible, and was very solid in the 3rd. Good to see that play didn't knock him off his game. I'm afraid the Hutch vs Pav talk is going to continue for the rest of this season. Don't think he did anything tonight to give Pavelec more starts. I think they will still be alternating goalies.
