They didn't really rush Lulay back though. They traded a first round draft pick for Kevin Glenn and he played pretty much half the season before they put Lulay back in. There was no real reason to rush him back if he wasn't ready. I think Lulay was done the day he got injured. Sometimes the body just isn't the same. Lets hope Willy can recover from whatever happened to him.

PM them to me, I'll put them in. I've done it for others.

Except he wasn't agreeing with the article, he was whining about posters who happened to be complaining about the article. Which is really adding nothing to the discussion and very close to trolling. He knew the exact reaction he would get when he posted it.

I would think the difference is that this message board's basic purpose is to talk about the team, the articles, and by extension the press. Where as you decided to call those posters out directly for doing pretty much exactly why this message board exists. As far as I know you aren't part of the Winnipeg media, so why do you care if people complain about it.

Well, his coaches book segments are interesting to watch aren't they? Usually he does these on Friday night games and critiquing the Als is pretty good coming from him. His segments are fine. I'm just saying there are other options as to why someone would say no. Never really noticed if Montreal plays more on Friday then other teams. And it doesn't really matter to me if the Bombers do or not.

Why does the no option have to be because of Lapolice?

Be sure to get your week 12 picks in before the first game this week (Friday @ 8 PM!). Cam P and Jesse W. James are hot on his heels with 32 correct picks.

I suppose, But i would think that they wouldn't trade burris until they are sure they have someone that can take over from them. Qb is one of the hardest positions to find (see bombers pre 2014) so trading away a proven starter and future HOF QB for a starting Cdn o-linemen is insane to me. Oline is very important but if you have Troy Smith (or clone) it won't matter who is around him. If your QB lacks accuracy or the ability to read a defence he is worthless. Burris is an inconsistent QB, but he's not the reason the Redblacks are losing. That team could scrap out some hard fought wins if it cleans up some of the rest of that garbage, like that sequence with Chevon Walker last week. They will not be able to do that without Burris. Are they willing to completely write off 2014 to get an Olineman? And if they can't find a QB, 2015? I doubt it. The message that would send to season ticket holders in Ottawa would be awful. They are already supporting their stumblebum team through incompetence because at least they are trying. Now you tell them you aren't even trying anymore? Awful. Not going to happen. /checks google, sees Eric Tillman does not work in Ottawa... Not going to happen. Agreed, they bet the farm on Burris and so far haven't reaped any reward. RB management would look like complete fools if they admitted they'd made a mistake on their franchise player and gave up on him in their first season. Like him or not Henry hasn't deteriorated that much in one off season and hate to use a cliche but he does "give them the best chance to win", game to game. I think they were overly optimistic with what they thought they could achieve in their first season but they are making baby steps and will likely end the season with a record similar to the 2013 Bombers. Next season is a crap shoot but reasonable to think being in the East they could have a record of 6-10 wins if they get a better cast to support Henry. Burris is going to be 40 next year. His physical skills are going to be soon leaving him in a big way. I give it 50 / 50 that it hits him next year as he hasn't looked like age has really caught up with him yet. Calvillo was able to put up 5k yards passing when he was 40, but not many QBs can, especially when Hank relies so much on being able to scramble out of the pocket and shrug off tacklers to extend a play. Last season Calvillo was 41 and we all saw how that ended. They need to be finding their QB of the future now when they have some "grace" time with their fan base. You should be using a vet QB who is on their last legs when you have all the other pieces around him to make a push.

Dad? Is that you? Because I feel like you just took everything from my last post, agreed with it but somehow reworded it to make it seem like we're arguing... Family suppers must be a blast for you.

Clippers selling for 2 Billion. The Bills over 1 billion. Can you imagine what a marquee sports team would sell for now a days. Wonder what an expansion fee in the NFL would be. I know the NFL Toronto rumours won't die but I can't see it happening. They would need a new stadium and the Bills in Toronto experiment was not a success. The Thrashers were reportedly sold for 110 million plus a 60 million relocation fee to the NHL. The team is now estimated to be worth 340 million. Pretty soon it is only going to be corporations and conglomerates who can afford sports franchises.

Ouch... with Thaddeus Gibson still not in town, it looks like it might be Booker in there for Vega. Kuale at DE ? crickets... Okay, I'll say it. I don't hate the idea. He might be better suited there. Or at least open up a spot in the middle for someone who is better suited. And it's not like we've gotten any pressure from the outside line lately, so even if he does nothing, it's not a downgrade. I'll go hide under my desk now. If the the Bombers play Booker who have been here for less than a week. How many offside calls will he commit? I think, under this worse circumstance, Kuale is the 'best' option there right now. Although Booker's offside (10yds) penalty may be better than Kuale's 15yder penalties.. Offside is a 5 yard penalty. Regardless, what makes you think he would be going offside?

Assholes like Migs could easily come here. Everyone should be lucky he hasn't because he is a hell of a lot worse than me or franc. And if Rider fans (or anyone for that matter) come here to do nothing but troll, they are easily banned. We've already banned a few. Fans who want to come here and have a football discussion are more then welcome. The problem with Migs though, is that he is very sneaky. When he first posts, you don't expect him to be a troll. He tries to lure people into thinking he's a good guy when he really isn't. Oh I see. He is smarter then our whole moderator team and we would never catch on. Let alone the fact that the moderator team here has been moderating for years and years and years and and knows Migs quite well (in terms of forum posting, not personally)

The thing everyone is overlooking is that the whole dynamic of their offense changes. They are able to run so effectively because yes, they have a great OL and a three headed running attack. But the other factor is that Durant has earned the respect of opposing defenses. You can't just key in on stopping the run entirely because Durant is still back there with the ability to hurt you for six points through the air. Tino isn't going to get handed that respect. Especially when teams watch film and see his inconsistency with the intermediate game. He's going to have to prove he can burn you with his arm before the run game can keep on trucking. The offence changes a bit but Tino's been with the team for awhile. Cortez will reconfigure the game plan. The Riders may stumble a bit with Sunseri but it is a great opportunity to get him some reps. I honestly think Tino will be a solid CFL qb. I'm not talking about what the Riders do. I'm talking about what other teams do against them. And that changes. A lot. I assume you believe other teams will stack the box and dare the Riders to pass? I'm sure Cortez will be anticipating that and prepare Tino accordingly. I'm pretty sure the Bombers prepared Kliff Kingsbury accordingly. And Tommy Chang. And Tee Martin. And Ryan Dinwiddie. And Alex Brink. And Joey Elliott. And Sammy Garza. And Brian Randle. And Brian Ah Yat. Hang on, going to go get a drink of water. Brb to finish the Brian section... After reading that list, think I need some rye instead of water.

Do you think the respective fan bases have anything to do with that?

I would have rather played Lulay. Lulay will never be the same. He'll be lucky if he retains sensation in his arm after so many shoulder surgeries. Wonder if B.C. will go with Glenn or go after someone else.Tebowmania Reborn! Who is there to go after this year? Wally has a pretty good track record when it comes to finding QB's. No reason to believe he won't do it again - It could very easily be someone new to the league. Glenn will obviously be there for the foreseeable future in the mean time. So Wally brought in Buck Pierce, Steven Jyles , Joey Elliott and now Beck in the last two years. Wally is massively over rated. Interesting how you want to only keep history to the last two years and ignore all of the QBs that Wally has brought into the league and developed. He brought those guys in to have CFL experience behind Lulay and DeMarco ... whom he also brought into the league.

It is going to be a very interesting finish in the West as SK has 3 games against Calgary and 2 against Edmonton.

A lot of coaches are more comfortable with the Devil they know. Buono has always seemed to be the best at knowing when to move on to new players ... and finding them.

I haven't been overwhelmed with the new import talent that was brought in this year either. I'm hoping it has to do with a new scouting team being setup over the off season and the group building their talent base. If we don't see new imports next year that can make an impact or at least show well as rookies, it would be concerning. I wish the CFL published negotiation lists. It would be interesting to see how much the Bombers has changed since the change in the front office.

For a team that started 5 - 1 and is now 6 - 5, I think you have to expect some negativity in the media. The trouble will come when the media starts hinting at either Walters or O'Shea being in trouble. Once that seed gets planted by the media, it can get traction from the fans. I don't think the media is there though. The message seems to be that they club is in the right direction, there are things to be fixed. However, I'm not sure those things can be fixed this year. This team is already miles ahead of where it was last year, and I don't think the media will be saying anything different.

2 Games ;2 Losses; 0 Holding Calls on Riders
Rich replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
IF you tackle the guy before he's already returned the ball to midfield the holding never has a chance to happen... When you let a returner get to the point where there's only one guy with a chance of stopping him you've failed in your coverage a long time before. That's absolutely true, but it doesn't mean there wasn't a hold and that it shouldn't have been called. yeah but when the coaches break down the film you think they will say to the team "OK it's not your fault, the refs just missed the holding"? What they're going to do are highlight the guys who didn't contain the returner initially because that's where the biggest mistake on the play came in. I really don't see how the 2 things are related. Of course the coaches will use the film to illustrate where the play broke down and point out the errors, so they can be corrected. That's their job and it's the players job to execute. Just like the refs blew a call that it is their job to make.... But I doubt they will be looking at film to see where they failed. Two seperate things: The Bombers failed to keep their lanes and make a tackle and the refs missed an obvious hold. As part of their jobs, refs will look at tape before and after games. The after part is to review what they did well and what they didn't. They also get graded on their performances. Those grades determine things like who gets to ref playoff games and who gets promotions. Those reviews just aren't made public. Nor should they be. Refs are humans and are making split second decisions There will always be mistakes. But their performance most certainly is reviewed. -
The stadium is expandable in the end zones. More capacity was a requirement to host Grey Cups. Surprised they would put them up for this game.
