actually, i think they should. Tate and Hall backing up Collaros (who you should make a big money offer to) would take you from the worst QB situation to one of the better ones. having a designated QB coach with those three should go without saying... Tate is signed to starters money already though, isn't he? Not sure the Bombers could afford to make the offer to Collaros if they traded for Tate. I'd rather have Collaros then live through Buck 2.0.

Strike 2....... Bo's not going anywhere. Are the Bombers that dense?? Clue in, Walters. The Stamps are going to protect him. Same with some of the fanbase here. He's not leaving Calgary. Dense? What does it hurt to ask. They wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't turnover every stone. Mack was bad because he didn't talk to GMs. Walters is bad because has asks for things he should know he can't have. If Ricky Ray was traded, anything is possible. This is silly to criticize Walters for this. Walters has asked more than once. He's been told no everytime. Why would the Stamps kill their future in a trade with Winnipeg?? Not happening. We need to concentrate on another qb. Who says he isn't. It is possible to talk to more then one team at once. In fact, with only 7 other teams, there is more then enough time to concentrate on all of them. I see no problem with being persistent on this, even if he is turned down every time. Not that I think he is going to get BLM, but this is the most silliest thing I've ever seen the organization criticized about.

It was reported that Ray is out 6 weeks on August 29th +/- 2 weeks depending on how rehab goes. I wouldn't count on Collaros being traded before the deadline.

Agreed the line played well this game considering how long the new tackles are here. Hall also helps with this as he gets rid of the ball much quicker then Goltz.
-
That was the guy beside me. Gave our whole section a good laugh thats for sure. Why was Boltus number two if Goltz was the guy they put in? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of it? What an absolute gongshow. Burke should be fired tomorrow morning. My brother yelled this out last night. We just listened to the broadcast and it sure sounded like him. Are you in Section 229?
-
Yep. He does make some sound decisions. Yet, others make you scratch your head.

The decision to play defence first is because it gives you a huge advantage in the overtime format. If you go offence first and find yourself on 3rd down, you pretty much have to kick a field goal. By going offence second, you already know what your opponent did, so if they scored a TD, you have the luxury of knowing you have to go for it on 3rd down. If they went FG, then you know you can kick the FG. Has nothing to do with resting defence or preparing your QB.

I wonder, with the new TV deal, if Toronto doesn't become a more viable franchise. The league as a whole has never been healtier. You hope it can attract some quality owners.

Week 13 in the CFL kicks off tomorrow (Friday) with the rematch of the Eskimos against the Bombers. Are the Bombers going to roll-over and not put up much of a fight with a repeat of last week, or can they channel the Banjo Bowl performance they showed 2 weeks ago. Get your picks in before Friday @ 7PM here: http://www.morningbigblue.com/community/index.php?app=pickems&do=games&pid=1&wid=6 MOBomberFan currently holds the lead with 13 correct picks. We don't have permission to use official Winnipeg Blue Bomber logos and trademarks (for the record we never asked). But we aren't officially affiliated with the club, so we shouldn't misrepresent that we are.

Two year contract extenseion. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=432158 I like this move. Like what he has done so far, but this team is now pretty much all his. With guys he has either signed to extensions, traded for, or drafted. They need to make the playoffs within the time frame of this extension.

Nobody won as there were no entries. I asked some people unaffiliated with the board to see what they could come up with..

It is Wednesday, that means that Week 3 of the NFL schedule opens up tomorrow (Thursday) with the 2 - 0 Kansas City Chiefs visiting the 1 - 1 Philadelphia Eagles. Andy Reid going back to Philly! WINNER!!! We were going to go with this until Buck got traded. So close Y2C. In all honesty, with the season we've had, it has been a tough summer in Bomber land. I know there has been days when it has been tough to come on here. With no entries in the contest, we went off site to get a new banner made. I'm quite a big fan of it. Hope you all like it too.

Was there even any competition in training camp this year for the import lineman?

Check out this picture that a fan took during a pre-season game in Florida. This was during the national anthem.... Link with article is here http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/florida-panthers-explain-embarrassingly-low-preseason-game-attendance-212803421--nhl.html Picture:

I dont think anyone is against a game day thread. The dire suggestion of what will or not happen if we don't have one derails the conversation a bit. I think we need to do a better job of advertising the chat room. And if that means having a thread created the day of the game setting up the match and inviting people into the chat room, we can certainly do that. Curious from the out of towners and those that don't go to the games. How busy is the chat room for home games?
-
I'm not sure posting chat logs are the way to go. Chats are logged but only site administrators have access to them, so most of the mod team can't even see them. They are logged pretty much to deal with abuse if / when a complaint is made and we need to verify. I'm also not sure we need to prove activity during game days to grow the site. People who come to the site during the game go to the chat room. Most people I think know that the chat room is used during the game day, and those that don't figure it out pretty quick. For those that don't want to use chat and want a game day thread, they are pretty much going to post to themselves because most people are in the chat room during the game, and not checking the thread. I know you are trying to help iso, but I don't see how the lack of a game day thread deters new people who come to the site. We have levelled off our registration to an average of a new person every day or two. There really isn't a spike during game days, so if they are going to stay it is because of the forum discussion, not the game day thread. So I will put it to the new registrants out there (or anyone out there for that matter). Does the lack of a game day thread deter you from the site? Has anyone thought there to be a lack of activity due to one not being there, or not being used?
-
I tend to agree with the lack of a game day thread being attributed to the chat room. With the chat room in use, the only thing that gets posted in game day threads is a lead up to the game.

Burke's comments on what Hervey said about Rottier
Rich replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I disagree. Coaches and management shouldn't be throwing players under the bus with the media. Team meetings, one on one conversations, all that stuff is when to call a player out when he sucks. Doing it in public to other people is not the way to foster trust and respect from your team. There is being honest and then there is being stupid. I know sports isn't a one to one comparison to the "real" world, but could you imagine if you screwed up at work, and rather then tell you to your face, your boss sent out an email to everyone in the company calling you out and berating you. Do you think you would still have respect for that boss,. Do you think your performance at work would go up or down? Would you be looking for another job? The best coaches / organizations are the ones who not only understand the game, but are the ones that can inspire and motivate their players to be their best. They foster a positive atmosphere in the dressing room and with the players that promotes winning and confidence. That doesn't happen when they don't trust you because they read in the paper about how much you think they suck. -
Burke's comments on what Hervey said about Rottier
Rich replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Burke seems to lack a filter on his thoughts when he has to think on his feet. It seems he isn't able to assess the consequences of what he says before he says it. The biggest difference, not that I'm excusing Burke, is Burke's comments are made immediately after a game. Wasn't Hervey's the day after? -
Bombers moving to the West next year
Rich replied to sweep the leg's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I agree, I wasn't promoting it. Why should other teams pay for all the people the Bomber's are still paying who are no longer on staff. The topic usually starts to come up when there is a large disparity of income between teams. The argument usually being that the league won't "survive" without all the teams, so it is in the best interest of everyone to share the wealth. -
Bombers moving to the West next year
Rich replied to sweep the leg's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The real question comes down to how much the cap goes up relative to the TV deal. If the new TV revenue is split 50 / 50 between the cap increase and money to the teams, then it is a huge gain for all of the CFL. If most of it goes to the cap, then we aren't much different then we are today. They were talking on 1290 this morning that if Saskatchewan makes it to the Grey Cup (so include a home playoff game) and revenue from hosting, they could make 10 Million profit this year. 4 Million has been their typical profit. Have to wonder if the revenue sharing discussions ever start up if the gap of profitability of teams continue to increase.
