  2. Just a reminder to periodically check the location services on your phone and which apps you’ve agreed to track you. There is no reason to give this level of data about yourself to a company you are paying to be a customer of. https://business.financialpost.com/technology/tim-hortons-app-tracking-customers-intimate-data
  3. Apparently he has been on our neg list since 2016.
  4. For anyone who doesn't think racism is in Canada, and it isn't contained only to indigenous people, here is an article that may hit closer to home. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/cfl-khari-jones-death-threats-winnipeg-1.5595506 I don't know what kind of person you have to be that you would go out of your way to send death threats to two people, who you likely don't even know and really have no impact of effect on your life, but just because the colour of their skin differ..... I also have black friends here in the city who have been racially profiled by the police. Will not go into all of the details, but he was in a financial position to fight it, and force the issue to go to court, and after being overtly followed by police while this whole thing was happening (which he assumed was supposed to be some form of intimidation), constant delays in the system and being told by prosecutors and even his own lawyer to just give it up it isn't worth it, paying tens of thousands of dollars in legals fees, and while he ultimately won the court case, the cop ended up retiring before the court date and in the end, there was no real impact to the cop. But he fought it and paid the money to prove a point ... and won. There is no doubt that we hear lots of stories of black football players that come up to Winnipeg, and do love it here, embrace it, and find how they are treated here better then back home, and that is great, we all love hearing those stories. But that is not an excuse to say we are all good here, that racism doesn't exist, or it isn't as bad. It is a very ugly fact that if history is a predictor of the future, racism will always exist, and everyone needs to do their part so it doesn't grow and flare up into something even uglier.

  7. Crazy what is going on in Minnesota right now. The States is such a huge mess right now. Checkout this CNN article and video. A reporter is arrested live during a broadcast. https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/george-floyd-protest-updates-05-28-20/h_4ed08403663fa4ed3518221d0f2a1552
  8. If by innovation you mean stealing shamelessly from Canadian companies.... http://natoassociation.ca/why-canada-should-be-wary-of-huawei-lessons-from-nortel/ Regardless of what may or may not be in Cisco servers and US companies, with what China has shown in recent relations with Canada, I would be very very weary of getting into bed with Huawei at this point. Also, the EU has recommended "limiting" Huawei 5G and still considers them "high-risk". Time will tell what the outcome of using this technology will mean for these countries. Given our lack of military and geographic location, we are pretty much in bed with the US good or bad. China has proven not to be a friend.

  12. I like to think that our $600k was in part used to pay Khari's salary. Then I don't mind as much.
  13. Model X is way too expensive. Model Y is their smaller crossover SUV equivalent and built on the Model 3 platform. Still starts at $75k but better than $120k of the Model X. They are an intriguing car to buy, but still too expensive for most. I know the batteries aren't necessarily equivalent, but seeing how my phone battery degrades over time makes me leery of considering used.

  17. That wasn't the first broadcast where they've done that sort of thing. Has become very common in the last couple of years. Someone there thinks it is a good idea and people like it. Maybe they think it caters to and draws in the casual fan. Either way, I have no confidence that they've learned their lesson.

  19. Here is what Lyle had to say https://www.facebook.com/people/Lyle-Bauer/100018570634620 There is still a lot wrong with this scenario. There is going to be an increased cost in playing the season in testing players before / after games. All businesses that are operating right now have had to increase costs to put in plexiglass windows over the counters, extra staff and supplies to sanitize and clean regularly, cost of secluding players in secure hotels. Closing off tables and taping out squares people can stand in. You are asking the CFL to decrease revenues by limiting the tickets sold and increase costs of operating. Lots of questions on if you can even get American players into the country right now to play. I also wonder how much appetite the fans would even have in being comfortable in attending games. Big risk that attendance is way down. And a big question that even the NHL hasn't answered in their talks to restart is what happens if you go through all this trouble and testing and a player on a team tests positive? Doesn't that whole team need to quarantine for 2 weeks as well as the teams they've played? You've spent all this money to get the season going. And now what? You have to stop it all? I want to see the CFL play again as much as the next person on here. But equating a non-essential service like professional sports to allowing people to shop at grocery stores and use public transit is a little ridiculous in my opinion. Some risks are necessary to take, others aren't. You also don't have the same number of people in a store or bus as you would at a game, even with reduced attendance. Listen to the experts, and don't put people's lives at risk if you don't have to. This thing is very likely to flare up again big time in the fall, right in prime CFL season and playoffs.
  20. Your hate for the guy doesn't mean you need to go on a tirade every time he talks. Go read the financial reports of the community teams. It is brutally obvious that the majority of revenue comes from ticket sales. This isn't a revelation for the CFL Ticket pricing will be optimized to bring in the most revenue. Selling 100 - $80 tickets brings in more money then 150 - $40 tickets The CFL has known how broken their model is for a long time. Again, this isn't a revelation. Teams on the brink of bankruptcy, delusional owners, owners owning multiple teams. They are here because of owners like Bob Young and David Braley have absorbed the losses for years for the love of the game. This is not new news and should not be shocking. The alternative here and what we have been close to so many times is the league folding.
  21. Yes he was. However, he never made the final roster. https://www.bluebombers.com/2019/06/08/45-man-roster-set-ahead-opening-week/
