  1. Season is over. Lets move this over to the off season thread.
  2. Standings have been updated for the Grey Cup game. Good season all and congrats again to @bigg jay!
  3. You’ve never been banned You were suspended. If you were banned you just wouldn’t be here anymore. No one has been suspended for an opinion except when what they say is an attempt to troll or they try to push that opinion across multiple threads and derailing those conversations. If you think people that are disagreeing with you are actually attacking you, then report the post. There is a report link on each post. Or you can “not back down”, do what you did last time and get suspended again. Get suspended enough times and then you will be banned.
  4. Appreciate all the new faces who decided to stop by and check us out. Everyone is more then welcome to stay now that the other forum is back. One can NEVER have enough Bomber talk in their life!
  5. With only one game remaining, congratulations to @bigg jay for winning the Pick 'Ems this year and the recipient of a $50 gift certificate to the Bomber Store. Picks for the Grey Cup need to be in by Sunday @ 5PM. Go Bombers!
  6. It isn’t all that trivial unless you have a tool to extract , decrypt, and re-encrypt passwords into the new application. Otherwise people can’t easily access their account or need to trigger password resets, then you have to hope their registered emails are still active. That is just for accounts, let alone posting history which is what people are most concerned with. Assuming they are moving to a new software package and haven’t had some other disaster event hit, unless there is a migration tool from old to new, it probably wouldn’t be worth the effort to migrate. Keeping in mind you not only need to extract the data from the old database, but then transform it into the new one. Sites like these aren't maintained by developers dedicated to keeping it going. The effort to write and test those extractions and transformation are not worth what you get back for it, not to mention you would be delaying re-opening by days - weeks to do so. Most posters would rather have a site reopen sooner and start from new.

  8. There are plenty of "old people to Canada" who don't wear poppies. Why are they immune to the rant. Even worse for them because they grew up being taught the history and significance. If the rant was about "people" not wearing poppies, I don't think the same outrage would be there.
  9. Picks this week need to be in by Sunday @ 12:00PM @bigg jay maintains his 2 point lead with 66 picks, @wayner in 2nd with 64 picks Standings are below:
  10. Playoffs are set and 5 games left in the season. Picks this week need to be in by Sunday @ 12:00PM @bigg jay goes into the playoffs with a 2 point lead with 66 picks, @wayner in 2nd with 64 picks, and @rebusrankin still mathematically alive with 61 picks. Standings are below:
  11. Inconceivable!
  12. And he is 29. How is this going to look in the last 2 - 3 years.
  13. Don’t run the site to make money. I’m happy to break even. The ads do pay for hosting, software costs, prizes for Pick ‘Ems and Lock of the Week, and we’ve donated a pair of season tickets to allow those less fortunate to see Bomber games every year running the site. So if they are detracting from the enjoyment of the site, I’m generally against them.
  14. Have looked into this a bit ... Google has implemented a new feature called auto ads, where it basically uses AI/ML to try and better serve ads and placement. I had turned it on a while back, but with restrictions. I found this email from yesterday: As someone who works in software, this is something that really pisses me off. You never unilaterally make changes to how a customers account works. Most people never read those emails, and I almost never log into the account to see notifications. These have been turned off. Let me know if you are still seeing them.
  15. I’ll take a look into it tonight I haven’t changed any of the ad settings in a long time. I hate ads that are injected into threads or take away from the site. Seems like Google decided to get aggressive.

  17. She may not have held the position for long, but I do believe that distinction goes to Kim Campbell.

  22. Some interesting developments over the last few days: https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/daryl-morey-s-tweet-hong-kong-shows-how-china-calling-ncna1063551 NBA Rockets GM Daryl Morey supports protests in Hong Kong on twitter. His tweet is soon deleted and the NBA and Rockets are suddenly offering all sorts of apologies and trying to distance themselves from the tweet as China sponsors pull out and preseason games are banned in China. The Rockets had previously been a huge money maker in China due to Chinese basketball star Yao Ming in the early 2000's. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/south-park-banned-chinese-internet-critical-episode-1245783 South Park is banned in China after they make fun of hollywood for cow towing to China demands. South Park tells China to **** off and makes fun of them again in a new episode. By the way, the last part of that tweet is in reference to Winnie the Pooh being banned in China because bloggers have been comparing the plump bear to China's President Xi Jinping. https://www.theverge.com/2019/10/8/20905181/blizzard-hearthstone-player-ban-marco-rubio-ron-wyden-china-hong-kong-protests-blitzchung Blizzard / World of Warcraft bans a player for a year and takes back a cash prize they had awarded him after he supports the Hong Kong protests in an interview. China is a large revenue stream for the company. For a long time, China has controlled what foreign companies can and can't do (censorship) within their borders and those companies agreed to get access to the large market. Now that those companies have a huge financial stake with a foothold in China, they are exercising their influence to control what these companies do outside of the Chinese borders. What's next? Is the cost of doing business in China really worth it? And why is a cartoon the only one willing to stand up to them......
  23. @bigg jay remains in 1st with 52 wins. @wayner in 2nd with 50 and @kelownabomberfan in 3rd with 49. Picks this week need to be in by Friday @ 6PM. Standings below:
