  1. Reilly should take a read on this article before considering Regina https://leaderpost.com/news/local-news/roughrider-struggling-to-find-work-in-regina-during-off-season?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR2gfC5ZKmn_aNgz2GGPVUjZxIIIASozOUX8ucw00RAM7wT6ANMNvGuaa4E#Echobox=1547127483

  3. You are really conflating way too many issues into this discussion to even know where to start, and there are assumptions in your original post that are not even true. Here are a few that I had time to find your facts articles. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/winnipeg-jets-paul-stastny-st-louis-blues-1.4552179 Just because they didn't get him in 2014 doesn't mean they didn't bid or try. Jets were a horrible unattractive team in 2014. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/qa-jets-owner-mark-chipman-team-budget-patience-cheveldayoff/ Regardless of ranking in spending or percentage of the cap, the last couple of years, the Jets have been within a "good" player of spending to the cap, which to me totally makes sense given where their young stars are. Tieing up money to spend to the cap you are going to need to sign young players coming off their ELC's is just stupid. Suppose the proof will be in the pudding over the next few years, but I expect the Jets will be spending very close to the cap. Probably would be a better discussion to separate the topics of the Jets being a "budget" team vs. trading Laine.
  4. @TrueBlue4ever please confirm, intention here is to vote for two from the list? See a lot of people only voting for one.
  5. Just wanted to take the time to wish everyone here a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Thank you all who contribute, read, and participate! Be safe and enjoy your time with friends and family.
  6. Is it? I never said he played bad saving shots and being in position. It is starting to be an issue when he goes behind the net to play the puck. He needs to work on it and get better or stop playing the puck.
  7. No one said he should be benched, they called him hot garbage behind the net. Which he is. It has been a problem for a long time now. He should stay in the net and just let his defencemen handle the puck. Gave up a goal directly in the playoffs last year because of this, been many many close calls this year where his awkwardness back there is a problem. And it directly led to a goal last night. Check around 3:15 below.

  10. The margins in restaurants are typically way too low to be able to afford the demands a union would make. Wouldn't be surprised if it is the end of Stella's if they unionize, either because they shut down or are forced to after some time.
  11. Of course you don't get hung up on that, you are a fan of the team. Even if you give them a pass on drafting Yakupov for the bust that he was, the Oilers draft record outside of the first round is just atrocious. Any semi competent organization who had the picks and opportunity they've had since 2010 should have never even been in the lottery for McDavid.
  12. Agreed and that is the exact reason people dislike the Oilers. Doesn’t matter who is in charge now. They rewarded with 1st overall pick after 1st overall pick due to incompetence. Thats not how the draft system should work.
  13. The issue people take with Edmonton is despite having the first overall pick for 3 years in a row, 2010 - 2012, they still sucked enough to win the McDavid sweepstakes in 2015. You would think being gifted those draft picks, they could have been something 5 years later. Jets were lucky to move up to get Laine in that draft year, but we didn't even get the 1st overall pick ,let alone 4 in 6 years.
  14. Interesting shift and trends to cable TV. https://deadline.com/2018/12/streaming-series-surpass-cable-broadcast-first-time-fx-study-1202519711/
  15. I believe the cap was brought in as a preemptive defense in the upcoming CBA negotiations so players can’t point to some of the excess being spent by some teams and wanting a bigger piece of the pie. That and to allow the weaker financial teams to remain competitive and not spend beyond their means.
  16. Apparently he didn't want to take the same pay cut everyone else was taking.
  17. People who signed up for Bomber For Life was Friday. Regular season ticket holders this morning.
  18. Standings updated with Grey Cup results.
  19. For minor off-season Bomber news. Any significant stories or news that are likely to generate significant discussion may have their own thread created. Going to try going with the two threads again for the off season. One for Bomber news, one for CFL news. These threads should be used for general / minor day to day news, tweets, etc. A catch all for tidbits that people want to share to keep everyone up to date on the goings and comings of the league. Any news, tweets, and signings that is likely to generate significant discussion may have their own threads created.
  20. They should make these shirts, bet they would be huge sellers.
  21. I believe it is because it was the Jets who originally put him on Waivers. If another team were to have claimed him, they'd have to keep him on their roster for 30 days. But because the Jets originally placed Dano on waivers and Colorado claimed him from them, then Colorado put him on waivers in the same season, the Jets can claim him and put him directly down to the AHL since they originally owned his rights.
  22. This makes no sense with the salary cap in the CFL. Every team will spend roughly the same on player salaries. Different teams will have different strategies on how they spend that money I also can’t see this philosophy for a community owned team like the Bombers. They need to be fiscalky responsible with their money to ensure the franchise is stable, but they aren’t cutting costs to line an owners pocket book. BLM will sign with either Calgary or the NFL IMO. Reilley likely Edmonton or B.C. if the money is similar.
