An interesting discussion on TSN 1290 this morning. If you look back at the 2016 NHL draft, Edmonton actually owned the 2nd overall pick. If the draft lottery had unfolded according to the standings, Edmonton could have had Laine and McDavid. Don’t know if they would have ultimately been able to afford both of them, but that would be a hell of a line for a few years.

He is done for the year. When he gets back to the city we are supposed to learn some details on the why.

Cost would definitely be the biggest issue. Here is an article from 2014 and the cost for disability insurance for NFL players. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/most-nfl-players-dont-buy-disability-insurance/ Rookies get paid $400k if you don't count bonuses. So you are looking at losing an additional 5 - 10% of your gross pay taken out of you net pay. Not crippling, but not peanuts either. Wonder if the CFL would ever be in a position to split that cost 50/50.

The True North chant at Bomber games has been slowly losing momentum, not as loud as it used to be. Won’t be much longer until it is gone. Was mentioned earlier in the thread, but my biggest pet peeve with it at Jets games is the crowd cheering themselves for chanting it.
