  1. Was at the game. Got free tickets to the loge seating. Pretty nice way to watch a game compared to the normal cramped seating. The upper deck was open for whatever reason today.
  2. The good news is we scored on 50% of our shots.
  3. IMO he is doing a much better job then his predecessor, Garth Buchko. I've liked what he has done so far.. Many improvements around the stadium since he has taken over in terms of game day experience, traffic, etc. Addressed a lot of the issues people complained about when we first moved in. Not everything they've tried has worked, but they aren't standing pat. I often see him out in the concourse game days. He has come up to us just to chat and see how everything is going, make sure everything is okay. The Bombers financials have been okay under his watch. About as good as you can expect given the situation he inherited (new stadium needing repairs, etc) and the mortgage they need to pay down. The team really needs successful seasons over multiple years to bring some of the season ticket numbers back up and revive the image of the Bombers for some in the city, especially with the Jets now here. Last year was a good step in that direction. Hopefully the people he has in place can build towards that.
  4. Football / hockey would have to be my number 1/ 2 (winter / summer deciding which is 1 and 2) but I do play every Thursday night, so when I see curling on TV, I will usually leave it on for at least background noise. I've actually been surprised a who well Englot has played in the Scotties. Reading the articles of her coming out of Manitoba, it just sounded like Jones had a bad day. But Englot has far surpassed expectations. Jones is 42, can't have that many more years left in the tank.
  5. Who isn't a curling fan?
  6. If a team is trading for Stafford, it would mean they are going in for a playoff push, so it is unlikely they are giving up anything that would help us in a playoff push, because they would want to keep that piece. It would be for futures. Pick(s) most likely. If you look at some of the playoff odds sites out there, the Jets have about a 10 - 12% chance of making the playoffs right now. Trade Stafford for whatever you can get.
  7. I think Myers is the big question mark. If your top 5 is Myers, Buff, Trouba, Morrissey, Enstrom ... you probably aren't trading an expensive piece for the 6, 7, 8 spots or you are bringing in a prospect like Poolman. If you aren't happy with those as your top 5 then you have to be looking to trade one of them to keep the money you spend on the backend reasonable.
  8. There is a league wide problem in the depth of defencemen out there and it will only get worse with Las Vegas coming aboard. D-men are at a premium, and you only have to look at what Edmonton had to pay to get Adam Larsson. No one really has or wants to give up their defensive depth, and you will typically have to overpay to get it.

  13. Cleaned up all the "boob" pics. Please keep this to off season transactions.
  14. Wouldn't those situations allow them to claim refugee status and no longer be illegal?
  15. Shouldn't you be opposed to illegal immigration ... because it's illegal?
  16. This type of thing is becoming common for certain jobs and roles. Anyone who may represent a brand or company to the general public (CEO, athletes, media personalities, etc) will now have clauses written into their contract that they can be fired over this type thing and I don't think it is directly for political correctness reasons, it is for profit. It is to protect the brand. With the new age of social media and mass movements, large amounts of people can quickly boycott brands and companies when a personality does or says something that would alienate a large amount of people. Companies want quick outs when bad press starts to circulate. Does that make it fair that an employee of 20 years is let go for something he says? Probably not, but this stuff is strictly profit motivated. When you are in those roles, you sign a bunch of things saying you won't do "things" that will hurt the brand, and those people have to realize that they can't go and say just anything publicly without a potential impact to their career. They have to be hyper sensitive to what they say and post. And if you aren't okay with that, they need to find another career.

  20. This isn't a commentary on whether or not all these people should be let into the country, but it is sad that this many people have it so bad in their home country they risk this voyage to get out.
