We will never really know so why even bring it up? What does that even have to do with the fact that this is what Trumps rating is? I don't think it would have happened this quickly for Hillary. The honeymoon would have been longer. Trump is moving fast in a world it seems he and his advisors don't fully understand. This is what has caused it to plummet. Every day it is something new. They are making rash decisions without vetting it or talking to the people who really understand the impacts of those decisions. America IS very fractured, and Trump does not seem to be doing anything to heal those fractures. It seems to me he is taking a nail and hammering it deep into those fractures.

They typical Maurice response will be that Pavs has been sitting longer and he doesn't want his goalies to sit for too long. Hellebuyck is the starter, start him. Pav is a vet and on his way out. Let him sit until Hellebuyck needs a rest. -

Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
Rich replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Technically the Jets are in the bottom third of cap spending (4th lowest). But to be fair, the difference between where the Jets are and middle of the pack is only $4M. They current project to be about $5.3M under the cap at season end. And as TUP suggested, that cap space can easily get eaten up with the young players we have coming off of ELCs in the next couple of years, even with players like Stafford, Stuart, Pavelec, etc coming off the books. -
I know this isn't everyone's thoughts, but the overall theme I'm seeing is that those who use the chat room really like it, those that don't prefer the game day thread, many so they can re-read the thread after the game. I don't really want to take away the chat room for those who like it for the sole purpose of others reading the game day thread after. As for posting chat logs, I think the post below summed it up nicely and why I don't think posting logs would give people what they are looking for. You get a lot of things in chat that make no sense unless you are in the moment watching the game. Was poking around some alternatives yesterday and came across a new addon from a 3rd party that looks the most promising so far. Because it is an addon, it would integrate seamlessly into the board. The current version actually looks remarkably like the old chat. Don't want to get people's hopes up too much here because you never know how or when these things get released, but he is trying to get version 3 complete in time for when the old chat room is shut down. Version 3 looks pretty slick. It includes things like the ability to ignore users, media embeds - pictures / videos (they come up hidden in a “spoiler” type of wrapper where you have to click it to view them so the chat doesn’t get spammed), ability to quote other people’s chats, multiple rooms, private chats, etc. Some of the comments have been if the current chat was done like this it wouldn't need to be shutdown because more people would use it.

The 90 day ban was put in until they can review and change the current immigration procedures. I'm very curious to see what changes they are going to make in those 90 days so that they feel they can lift the ban. Hope I'm wrong, but have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg.

What will this do to their tourism industry? Go to the States with the possibility of being denied entry when you don't want them snooping in your cell phone.

Here is an article on Darling for a more balanced perspective. http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/after-overcoming-his-demons-scott-darling-wants-to-make-his-mark-on-the-nhl -
I would expect this to change with the Conservatives in power. I believe MPI is already in their cross hairs of crown corporations they are looking into.

Yeah I don't think he can easily turn the US away from democracy or extend his presidency. People have been making a big deal of the executive orders that Trump has signed his first few days in office, and I was curious what they exactly mean. Here is an interesting article on what they can and can't do. Basically, my understanding is they can't contradict any laws, they can't make new laws (those check and balances are in place). They are basically a means to dictate policy to government agencies, and they are easily revoked and overturned by the next president. http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/23/politics/donald-trump-executive-orders-executive-actions/ There is an interesting info graphic in there about executive orders each president has done that I can't get to paste in here, the last few are: Obama - 277 George W. Bush - 291 Clinton - 364 George H. Bush - 166 Reagan - 381 Etc. Then there is Roosevelt who had 3,721.

Cleaned out some of the religious and political posts that were veering this thread off topic. -
I have no inside knowledge of how the Jets work or any NHL team works but I would think the coaches would game plan those things together, bring up arguments / discussions for trying certain things but at the end of the day, Maurice would have final say. I say this in general of how most organizations and teams I've seen run. In some areas Maurice may always defer to the one of the other coaches in certain areas because of expertise, but the buck still stops with him Im not sure how you really expect anyone here to tell you what really goes on and how unless they are present for practices and daily meetings.

Yes. You can get perogies on their own or chopped up as a topping on the Jumbo Jet Dog. Don't ask the price if you are afraid of sticker shock. -
There has been enough interest that I will for sure investigate and experiment with some alternatives. Current chat goes away at the end of April, so will need something setup for the draft.

Chats are logged today, however it is not usually as fun a read as a GDT. It can be harder to follow after the fact, and the conversation is a bit more all over the place then a GDT. People tend to post smaller one liners in chats as opposed to what you get in a thread, and there can be multiple dialogues going on at the same time between different groups of people ... or at least the attempt to do so. It would also be a huge wall of text as opposed to neat compact posts. I will typically go back to read it only if there have been complaints made, and even then it is usually filtered on a single person or time frame. It can be overwhelming to try and take in. I have no idea what kind of logging any new chat room might have at this point.

The fact that the Star Wars text is in red makes me think that the dark side is going to win out in this movie. Luke will teach Rey to be a Jedi then die just like Yoda did in Empire after teaching Luke. Though I would expect Luke to die at the hands of Snoke rather than from old age.

Cost isn't really an issue for this. It will probably actually be cheaper in the long run because there has been an additional yearly fee paid for the chat room as it was hosted on IPBoard servers. That fee will be going away and alternatives I've looked at are not extravagant and a one time fee only.
-
I've been notified that the chat room service that is part of the board's software is going to be discontinued this spring and before next season starts. There are some alternatives I can look at purchasing and integrating into the site, but before I do I thought I'd start a dialogue on people's thoughts on the chat room. To be clear, I have no issues investing into an alternative if it is a service that people really like and will continue to use. So if you like it and use it, please speak up. I don't use it on home games because I am at the game, and my usage on away games has been hit and miss over the last couple of seasons, so curious on other peoples thoughts. So some questions for you all to ponder... Do you want to see the chat room replaced? How important is it to you for the game day experience on the site? Do you find it to be superior to a "Game Day Thread" to follow the game? Any other features in the chat room you would find useful or that is lacking in the current version?
