  1. Have to wonder if they Jets would have even drafted Kane, or would his attitude have come through in the interviews. Evander was a 4th overall pick. Some notable players to be drafted after him, Brayden Shenn (5), Oliver Ekman-Larsson (6), Nazem Kadri (7).
  2. Comeau, who was the Jets head scout until last year was also a scout with Atlanta, but I believe they changed a lot of the scouts under him and increased their numbers as well. This was an article from 2014, but it shows how the Jets have invested heavily into their scouting. It wasn't just lip service that they were going to be a draft and develop team. If you know you aren't going to be in the running for a lot of free agents and rely on the draft, you need to do better then average in drafting. http://www.canescountry.com/2014/4/21/5625796/nhl-scouting-staffs-carolina-is-light
  3. Here is a list of all the Jets draft picks since they returned. Once you get into the 3rd round and beyond, your batting record is going to be pretty low for most teams NHL wise, but the Moose are now pretty stacked with drafted talent, especially compared to the sad state we inherited from Atlanta. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Winnipeg_Jets_draft_picks 2011 - After Scheifele (1) and Lowry (2), not much here. Brassard had a cup of coffee with the Moose Kasdorf (AHl / ECHL so far) was traded in the Kane deal. 2012 - Trouba (1), Sutter (2) was a bust. Kosmachuk (3) AHL player / injury callup in the NHL, Hellebuyck (5) starting this year, Ryan Olsen (6) AHL, Jamie Phillips (7) starting to make some noise as a goalie, still murky on if he will have an NHL future though.\ 2013 - Morrissey (1), Petan (2), Comrie (2), James Lodge (3) AHL, Lipon (3) AHL, Copp (4) Solid 3rd / 4th line NHL, Kostalek (4) AHL, Tucker Poolman (5) still have hope but with NCAA, Kichton (7) AHL 2014 - Ehlers (1), Jack Glover (3) NCAA - Still a potential NHL prospect, Chase De Leo (4) AHL, Nelson Nogier (4) AHL, 2015 - Connor (1), Roslovic (1) AHL, the rest too early to tell 2016 - Laine (1), the rest too early to tell

Reward for the the reported $6 Million she gave to his campaign? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/10/16/wwe-co-founder-linda-mcmahon-gave-6-million-to-pro-trump-super-pac/?utm_term=.11b17f6d12ef

  6. I don't think there is any rule about trading a player they select. They can't buy any of the players they select out for a year. These are the only restrictions I've seen from the Vegas side of things when they do the expansion draft. https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-expansion-draft-rules/c-281010592
  7. I think part of the reason Maurice is reluctant to put the younger players in the top 6 is those lines often get the tougher defensive minutes and he tries to shelter players until they can prove they are responsible. This applying to Connor more so then Armia at this point. People are often trying to put lines together based on pure skill, but there are defensive responsibilities and how the coach wants to play his matchups against the other team that are hard to take into account because while a lot of us will track Jet lines during a game, I don't really track / pay attention to who Maurice is trying to match them up against. As to the blender of lines last game, not a big fan of it either, but Maurice said in post game comments that he thought the team basically just ran out of juice as the game went along. I think he was trying to find people who still had legs. Jets still at the top of the league with 29 games played (tied with Calgary). Teams with the least amount of games played are at 24. Fatigue still a factor with this team I think.
  8. I think the discussion on who goes down / comes up is made between both Maurice and Chevy with Chevy having final say as it effects waivers / development. The longer Connor has a more diminished role on this team without being sent down to the Moose, the more credence there is to rumours of the "handshake" deal with NCAA prospects that they will get their first year with a full NHL salary.
  9. Latest patch was applied last night. This should be fixed now.
  10. I was in the car listening to TSN1290 and heard it there. Glad the child has been found.
  11. Can't believe they missed this penalty. Was at the game last night, and the ref on that side of the rink wasn't calling anything on New Jersey but he made a lot of the calls on the Jets. Don't like conspiracy theories or "biased" ref insinuations, but some games it just makes you wonder.

  13. This guy has been banned from Delta Airlines for life. Apparently they also refunded the airfare for these passengers as he wasn't kicked off the plane when the event occurred. http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/delta-bans-rude-pro-trump-passenger-for-life-gives-refunds-1.3180399?campaign_id=A100
  14. My bet is he stays up for at least this year. This is the rumour teams offer NCAA players "off the books" for signing early out of college.
  15. I'm a Hellebuyck fan and everything, but does this really prove Hellebuyck is going to be as good as Price? How many goalies had similar stats that turned into nothing?
  16. I don't see how any NFL team, let alone CFL team could pay Nichols $250 million, never mind 450 According to Justin Dunk earlier in the year, Nichols made a base of $169k and an additional 152k in play time bonuses, for 321k. That is really your starting point for next year, he isn't going to make less money. I would bump him up to 350k with somewhere around 250k in base salary.
  17. About 10 years ago we went for a week long holiday to Cuba over New Year. Rather then a tour into Havana on a bus with a big group, we opted for a more personal tour with just our group in a mini-van with a tour guide. Got to know the guide over the course of the day and by the end of it he opened up a bit to us. In a quiet moment at the end of the day as we were grabbing a drink, he told us about how his job dealt with showing tourists around all day long, every day. He got to meet a lot of different people from a lot of different countries, but he also felt like a prisoner in his country. He (like most citizens) was not allowed to leave Cuba for any reason, including vacation. He had absolutely zero chance of visiting all these countries of people he had met. They had no freedom to live their lives how they wanted. They had to follow the state rules and the propaganda that was forced onto them. Just imagine if that was how Canada was run. You had little say in how you lived your life, what your job was, where you wanted to live, and where you wanted to go. We all take the basic freedoms that we have for granted and can't even contemplate what it is like for people in other countries who don't have them. We each tossed in $5 US for a tip at the end of the day, to give him $25 after driving us around and showing us the sites for a full day. He was almost in tears as that was more than a months wage for him. Granted that could have been a bit of an act as I'm sure he gets this regularly with his job (being in tourism was one of the best paying jobs in Cuba because of the tips), but it seemed very genuine. And you know, Hitler never did anything to me personally, it doesn't mean I don't give a crap about what he did.
  18. Overtime?
  19. NFL refs make close to 200k a year. I don't think their pay is the issue. The issue is a fair number of them are judges, lawyers, own their own businesses, etc. And if the NFL forces them to become full time, they will lose a number of their experienced refs as they are forced to choose their career. NFL needs to either bite the bullet and lose them or start the transition where new refs are full time going forward.
  20. Stadiums and arenas need big footprints that the cost to put them in central locations balloons the price. MTS centre lucked out because the land donation bought Thompson into True North. The land sale of the old location was part of the funding of the stadium that wouldn't have been there had they built at that location I have no idea the answer to this question but what was around the polo park area when the old stadium and arena were built?
  21. They probably got them for free from the league with "strings". No way they paid for them and are giving them away on a $30 pizza deal.
