Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil. I found this interview very interesting. A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes. Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected. He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election. A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back. Do respect this one though: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/60-minutes-donald-trump-family-melania-ivanka-lesley-stahl/

Because it doesn't have to be proven to me or you. O'Shea makes the decision. O'Shea sees what Medlock can do in practice. We don't. He has an immense amount of information at his disposal to make the decision that we as fans don't. If Medlock says he can hit 1 out of 3 (and I don't even know where that claim came from) and O'Shea has seen that in practice, then the decision making is sound. And I'm not even convinced the kick was the right decision. But after hearing Westwood's thoughts on it this morning ... a retired kicker who has played the game ... I put more weight into his opinion than mine or yours.

Skeptical on this event. Saskatchewan a good choice for the inaugural or test run of the event. If it can't fly there... Good to see Orridge trying new things to grow the brand. Hopefully reach out to the younger generation. Time will tell what this turns in to.

I think I would give Medlock the benefit of the doubt on his own stat based on what he has been able to do in practice and messing around Just because it is not an official CFL stat, it doesn't mean Medlock doesn't know what he is capable of. Interesting perspective on TSN1290 this morning. Westwood said as a kicker he wouldn't lie when asked whether or not he thought he could make a kick. He wouldn't want to be the one who lost the game if he missed They questioned the decision to use a tee on the kick. But all felt he didn't get a full kick on the ball and that it was well within his usual range.

I'd actually be shocked if the Jets traded Thorburn. Not because of his play on the ice or anything like that, but because of his involvement with the community and the role he plays on the team for the younger guys. What really is his worth in todays NHL? A 5th draft pick at best? Just the way True North operates, I think they would rather hang on to him, reward him for his years of service, offer him a job with the organization if he chooses to hang them up after this season.

Election is over, thread locked. I'm sure this will get picked up in a new thread at some point Have let a lot go in this thread, probably more than we should have. Politics can be a rather passionate and volatile subject for some people, but that is no excuse for insults and behaving like children. Going to be cracking down on the crap that has been going on in these parts, need to put a stop to it. Locking this thread was easier then cleaning most of it up.

Something goofy with the way they embedded / linked the first pic. The 2nd one works fine.

As of right now, we are in a wild card spot.

An interesting article to see the Tweets going back and forth between John Cornish and Jeff Hecht. Lots of other CFL players chiming in to the election as well.

Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
Rich replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
It has nothing to do with any small syndrome. Imagine the **** storm if a Toronto player had held out for the reasons Trouba stated. It would be the same **** storm if not bigger. No one is missing anything. This was Trouba's fall back plan all along, he wasn't going to miss a full year of play. They were playing chicken to see if Chevy would blink. He didn't, they moved on to part B of the plan. Part C of the plan will be to keep going to arbitration or re-sign for 2 years to get to UFA as quickly as possible. It would be nice if he suddenly decides to sign long term in Winnipeg, I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Chevy now has 4 years to decide if he wants to move an asset who won't sign long term and will probably walk for nothing. -

The important part will be what he says and asks for behind closed doors. It is unlikely he tells the media he is here to be traded even if he really is. -

At 27 years old or at 7 years in the league. You get arbitration rights after your 2nd contract. -

Minny had no choice with Dumba because of their cap situation They had no room to sign him to a 5-6M contracts The Jets do Those guys also didn't hold out for a made up reason. You really think Trouba has had a sudden change of heart? Or he doesn't want to lose a year of earnings and a year towards being a free agent If he wanted to be here long term, there are plenty of comparables to pull from.
