Forsberg - 21 years old - 4 years in the league, last year scored 33 goals 31 assists in 82 games. Scheifele - 23 years old - 5 years in the league, last year scored 29 goals 32 assists in 71 games. Scheifele is a centre, Forsberg has been playing wing. Is this where the Scheifele deal starts?

I agree they would have signed Connor regardless. Don't want to risk losing him to that NCAA loophole and as an organisation you want him in your development program as soon as it makes the most sense. So many problems with NCAA players not even being able to attend rookie camp / training camp unless they pay their own way. I also think there is a reasonable chance that Connor starts with the Moose this year. When you look at what players would have to clear waivers, and what players he would have to beat out, not sure there is room for him. With Ehlers, Laine, Perreault, as your top 3 LW, I don't think you keep him with the Jets to get 4th line minutes. His development would be much better served playing top line with the Moose.

Your not really comparing apples to apples with Eichel. They were the same draft year, same age. Eichel played in the NHL last year, Connor didn't. Connor scored more points at a year older. Think you are over estimating him if you expect him to step in to a top 6 role.

Tough week last week with all the majority picks losing. Standings can be seen below. Picks need to be in by 6:00PM Thursday this week.

And our last pick is traded away. Weird trade. Must be no one we wanted or deferring picks to lighten the amount of contracts we may need to carry.

Homers. Most picks on draft day are 'good' or a 'steal'. Top picks can be questioned or deemed a reach ... who really knows these late rounds.

Interesting ... 6.5M salary, only next year remaining. Will be a cap hit of 1.5M this year and 2.5M next year. They already have $10M in cap room. This increases it to about $15M. Their RFAs are Dumba, Schroeder, Zuker, and Dalpe. Making room for UFA or to pay their RFAs?

Yep, will add picks for games that haven't started.

These two posts of your really contradict one another. First you say that most parents are so protective of their children, they wouldn't let them sleep over at any adult they didn't know very well. Makes sense. Then you suggest that parents would send their kids to a stranger for money because he was only accused, not an abuser, but would pay up. The reasonable thing ... The common sense thing ... Would be not to send your kid at all. So we can throw common sense out It seems to me, if we used common sense, if a parent really cared so little about their kid as to send them to a stranger for the sole purposes of extorting them, even with there being rumours and suggestions of abuse, they didn't really care either way if their kids were abused. They were only interested in the money.

It would really depend on who the Jets are after in the draft. One thing for sure in that trade you suggested. I would consider Werenski but not Murray. Werenski is exempt from the expansion draft. Murray is not. If we get Murray we are then losing him or Myers in expansion, barring other trades.

Bombers Opener June 24 ... (also Laine Day!)

They had an interesting discussion on TSN1290 the other morning, comparing the choice between Laine and Puljujärvi as similar to the 2004 draft when Ovechkin and Malkin went 1 and 2. Now who knows if these Fins will ever match what these two have done, but with the benefit of hindsight, who would you pick between Ovechkin and Malkin.

Morrissey would have to be protected. He will have finished his 2nd year as a pro for this expansion. Year after that, he would be eligible under these rules. Petan as well. Petan isn't even a regular NHLer yet though.

Problem with trading Enstrom is most other teams aren't likely going to want to acquire another D-man, especially since they would be forced to protect him. And those that would take him would have to get Toby's blessing with his NMC. PLUS if you don't get a top 4 DMan back in a trade, we take a hit in our top 4 D next season. If you do get a DMan back for Toby, you are right where you started. So slim chance of him being traded IMO. Jets lucked out with the timing here a little bit. We can protect 4-D and not lose a very significant forward. A year later and players like Ehlers would have to be protected, forcing us to only protect 3 D.

General Fanager has a pretty good mock expansion tool if you have the patience to go through every team to figure out their protectees, then draft the leftovers for Las Vegas. Of course rosters will change a lot between now and the expansion draft. Can't see many UFAs getting a NMC this off season. http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/expansion For the Jets, I would protect: F: Wheeler, Little, Scheifele, Lowry D: Byfuglien, Engstrom, Myers, Trouba G: Hellebuyck Likely lose one of Burmi, Copp, Dano, Armia. If one of those guys has a breakout season next year, could swap one of them for Lowry.
