  1. No we didn't. 11 carries in the first - 8 in the second (we had less offense overall in the second half). Statistically, we were less effective running the ball after the break .. 8 carries for 28 yards for a 3.5 yard average whereas in the first we were averaging 5 yards a tote and putting ourselves in a more manageable situation from a down and distance perspective.
  2. Beast Jovon Johnson - tight coverage and solid tackling. Really ontop of his game last night both mentally and physically. Woods - watching him truck Bighill was the highlight of the night for me. Bum Clarence Denmark - loved his past contributions but he simply isn't playing well enough to warrant his spot on the roster. Woods - is he supposed to be shifty or speedy because he's flashed neither ability so far and put the ball on the ground again.
  3. Honestly though (and this is me looking for a silver lining more than anything else), Matthews makes a couple of plays .. squeezes the ball .. the outcome of that game could be much different. A catch inside the redzone to move the chains .. a catch coming out of the shadow of our own endzone helps us manage field position ..
  4. My life the last week has been weird .. thought I was the one losing his mind .. new found respect for what Chris Garrett went through .. but yeah, usually these holiday games start much earlier.
  5. CFL website shows the game at 7pm EST .. something change?
  6. I knew that co-op you have was starting to rub off on you.
  7. The first thing that jumps out at me is the investment in "blue chip" offensive lineman. They have 4 first round picks on their offensive line. Whereas our offensive line is comprised of millends / cast offs from around the league. This team hasn't made building a strong offensive line a priority and it shows through the constant struggles we have on that side of the ball (regardless of coach / oc). Just my first impression.
  8. ^^^ very easy to demand change .. harder to implement a solution ..
  9. At least terrible tackling isn't unique to the blue n gold .. Wow ..this game is there for Hamilton to take
  10. Geezus. Reilly keeps taking shots like that he won't last the night. Edmonton's line is terrible.
  11. Unless it's in an effort to replace one (or both) of our existing tackles. Boatman, as far as I'm concerned, has no business starting on our line as an import .. his performance doesn't justify it.
  12. Simple fact is that the organization has finally woken up and realized they need continuity at the most important position on the field.
  13. Hell, we only won a few of those games because the defense put points on the board .. It's not all Pierce and his magical ability to finish a game.
  14. Calvillo wasn't happy that he wasn't putting up gaudy stats and was more than ready to throw a new head coach under the bus. 2-3 isn't terrible and should have been expected coming out the gate with a new staff .. new system. There were going to be struggles. Hawkins really wasn't given a chance to work through them.
  15. Little surprised they gave a rookie head coach 5 games to prove himself. Firing Hawkins is an admission that his hiring was a colossal mistake.
  16. This is something I can get behind. Now let's tailor this offense to Goltz .. Use his athleticism .. Allow the kid to be successful
  17. CFL.ca Staff MONTREAL -- The Montreal Alouettes announced on Thursday that they have relieved Head Coach Dan Hawkins of his duties. Owner Bob Wetenhall has asked General Manager Jim Popp to assume the head-coaching role in addition to his other responsibilities. "Jim is the person most responsible for the success we have had over all these years," explained Wetenhall. "I feel confident that he is the best person to coach our team at this time and I am very appreciative of him being willing to make this additional contribution to our franchise. He has the respect of our players as well as mine." More to come...
  18. You invest in the offensive line .. make it a priority .. you set a quarterback up for success .. doesn't matter who we line up behind center .. they WILL struggle and fail to reach their potential behind the line we have right now.
  19. Both Mitchell and Wiley are operating behind two of the best offensive lines in the CFL .. they also have the luxury of having a top running back on their team .. makes a world of a difference when you can keep a young quarterback upright and take pressure off him with a dominating run game.
