  1. Need guys who can stay healthy. Noah Hallett is a bandaid.
  2. Woah woah .. you don't want me channeling that sort of juju. I use my powers for good .. like with the GDT.
  3. There are a number of guys on the roster who are guilty of missed tackles: Biggie .. Alexander .. Thomas .. Kramdi .. (see the theme here). Any one of them *should* come off the roster if that's a concern for O'Shea. Wilson was easily the best of our LB last game and so many were writing him off earlier in the season but an injury like he had takes time to come back from (I've been there) so I'm optimistic he's turned a corner and he's back to being the vastly underrated player we've come to love. Lucky lasted all of part of one game.
  4. He’s a great DC (I’ll give him that) but a terrible head coach, GMand a generally shitty person.
  5. A few random thoughts on Grant: He's a game changer and was a catalyst on special teams that, when the offense wasn't clicking and the D was holding down the fort, that changed the dynamic of games. He could (can) score. We won games because of him. I think it was foolish to let him walk. Maybe he wanted more of a role on offense and that was something we weren't willing (or able) to provide him. I view him in the same vein as Jeffcoat .. when he's on the field he's an absolute beast, a difference maker, a guy who can flip the script and make others better (the special teams unit) .. but you couldn't count on him for a season and those stretches where he was at 100% were getting smaller and smaller.
  6. You'd think so but all we have to do is look at Saskatchewan the last several years to see that character and selflessness aren't exactly integral traits for everyone.
  7. And this has largely been the problem with our defence so far this season .. very few plays are being made .. there isn't someone back there who *is* a difference maker. That said, it was nice to see us force the issue Friday night .. even if we gave up 460 yards of offense.
  8. Imagine that .. Rhymes not making plays when he’s not pushing off every DB he’s up against.
  9. Seriously guys? We won. Stop bitching at one another. Pruned the last couple of posts.
  10. With the heat today, if the offense can't get on track early the defense (especially the line) is going to be in TOUGH. I also kind of view this as a bit of gut-check game for both Zach and Buck .. collectively our offense has been abysmal but the game plan runs through the quarterback and neither our OC nor our QB have been particularly effective so far this year.
  11. It was the Coatney spear that knocked Zach out of the first game against Calgary so I hope the boys remember that and bring a bit of nasty to their play.
  12. You don't know there's tension, that's your assumption. We do know that he's being awarded the lion's share of snaps. Is it holding anyone on the roster back? I don't know. I do know that there aren't many guys behind him that are healthy right now and JT is doing everything that's been asked of him and more. A defensive tackle leading the team in pressures is definitely stepping up and doing his part. My issue with Thomas is that he's not stout enough inside to hold up against the run. We've been fortunate that nobody has taken advantage of that but this is the CFL and, for the most part, running the ball is secondary. As I said, ideally he'd be a rotational piece and without the injury to Lawson, he'd be exactly that.
  13. I'll be one of the first people to say we should be looking to move on from Thomas but he hasn't been as bad as some people are making him out to be. He's never been an "engine guy" and that's only more apparent as he's aged and ideally, he'd be more of a rotation piece taking limited snaps but the dude isn't playing terrible ball right now
  14. A Quarterback Pressure is awarded to a defender who either forces the QB to move off his initial drop back point to avoid contact, contacts the QB in the act of throwing or has the QB in his grasp at the time an Intentional Grounding penalty is called. Only one QB Pressure per play may be awarded to the defence.
  15. Stats don't always tell the whole picture (I know you know that but I'm just saying) .. for me it was his inability to set an edge, he lacked physicality, was unable to fight across a block and often got lost in a sea of bodies. We were REALLY spoiled having a guy like Jeffcoat on our roster - that is the standard these guys are trying to hit.
  16. Or .. he's just not that good. To be honest, Hubert has shown more than Fayad. I'm not terribly upset with Fayad being dropped.
  17. Johnson is coming along and has shown more than Wilson ever has .. have to give these guys who are 4th / 5th in line for targets a bit of time. I also wouldn't rush Lucky into the lineup either .. want him to last more than a single game.
  18. I'll be the first to agree that there's a lot of bitching for the sake of bitching but that's what a losing season does to some people - perspective goes out the window and they beat the same drum over and over. That said, the roster right now is a mess and it's exasperated by the sheer number of injuries we've had this year.
  19. Just cleaned up a few posts. Please keep the discussion on football and not each other. Thanks.
  20. He practiced in full all week but was ruled out for the game .. hopefully it's just a situation of him not being ready yet but it does beg the question, why release Fayad if Garbutt wasn't good to go? (Truthfully I'm not upset by the release of Fayad, his play was very uneven and he lacked a bit of physicality. Outside that first game, he didn't make much of an impact)
  21. Latest injury report has Garbutt out for Friday .. looks like we are going to get a heavy dose of Huebert on the edge.
  22. This. I’ve been beating that drum since free agency. Don’t get me wrong, I love Brady and have always believed we need to do more to sign and retain local talent (it helps create connections to the team) but spending what we do, at that position, it doesn’t make sense. I’m not saying we don’t have few other “legacy contracts” that hamper us from a cap perspective but blowing your wad on a running back isn’t the best use of cap space.
