  1. It's not really up to him to go out and prove anything, it's the coaches who need to give him that opportunity. As far as I'm concerned, Buck needs to demonstrate that he can design and call plays that take advantage of what Streveler does well both as a passer and as an athlete. Strev just has to execute the game plan and be efficient with the ball. Is he the long term answer? I don't know that but do know we will never find out if he keeps getting shoehorned into a very specific role.
  2. He'll offer more than Mitchell or Wilson at this point. The Lucky Whitehead addition, to me, is kind of meh ...
  3. I don't disagree but he's already there, in the lineup, they'll trot him out there .. I just want to see some accountability if / when a coverage is blown and it results in us being in yet another hole.
  4. A couple of thoughts leading up to the game: It's been a long time since I thought about our team being undisciplined but last week we saw a myriad of mental errors put the offense behind the sticks. With the offense struggling, and the team lacking playmakers, we must have a much cleaner game to have a chance. Our DBs have played better as the season has gone on but giving up chunk plays has absolutely killed us at times. Younger needs to get those guys all on the same page and, if BA continues to struggle, get him out of there. I love the dude and what he's given to this club but he's a liability right now. I'd like to see a more up tempo offense. We've moved the ball well in those hurry up situations and, with a guy like Streveler behind centre, we may be able to stress the Ottawa defense and move the ball consistently. Will Buck be able to implement a game plan for Streveler? The jury is out on that I think. Which receiver is going to step up? Next man up is a great mantra but means little if the next man can't make an impact. Rightly or wrongly, I don't think Demski is that guy. He's an excellent piece of a well rounded offense but is never going to dominate or routinely win those one on one battles. There's going to be at least one punt that leaves us all asking, "Why the hell is Sheahan still on the roster?" We can't keep giving up field position like that. Keeping my fingers crossed and hope that Streveler has a solid game tonight. I love that dudes fire and will always root for him. I think if he puts up 250 with 2TDs (and possibly an INT) along with 50ish yards on the ground, we win. That's easily doable for him.
  5. That Grant guy looks good
  6. I don't disagree but who are they going to bring in to make an immediate impact? A couple of thoughts: All three positions along the interior of the offensive line need work. Dobson probably has the most tools to work with of the three but he hasn't been particularly good either and is actually making me miss Gray (who probably could have kicked out to right tackle in a pinch - he'd be no worse than Lofton). This has been beaten to death but get Eli in for Kolankowski and then let things gel for a bit and hope that Eli brings more consistency to that group. Lofton needs to go - there's a reason he was punted from Saskatchewan (which was amongst the leagues worst lines last year). He's awful. If we don't have a guy on the PR who can perform better as good or better than he has so far this season, it's an epic failure. Start bringing THOSE bodies into camp. I asked the question prior to game one: will they let Streveler be something more than a gimmick QB? Up until last game, the answer was no and that was only out of necessity. Buck really needs to install an offense that takes advantage of his strengths but I'm not entirely convinced Buck will or can. Our DBs need to get on the same page. I don't know if it's schematic, lack of communication or not understanding their assignments but we've ROUTINELY seen our DBs struggle when (it looks) like they should passing off coverage. Even Nichols, who is our best cover guy, was having issues early last game. There's more I would do but those things have been talked about ad nauseum. I also recognize that many / any changes along the offensive line would take time to bear fruit and continuity is such huge thing but the team not only has to start looking at the back half of this season but next year and beyond. I don't have a lot of confidence in Buck to install an offense that's going to put Strevy in the best spot to succeed which is ironic because, in a lot of ways, they are very similar players .. same warrior mentality, similar mobility (Strev moreso) .. the problem is our receiving corps won't scare anyone and we haven't demonstrated anything on offense that people will respect. Defenses can keep everything in front of them and just come downhill.
  7. It’s why I don’t put a lot of stock in PFF grades. They have no idea what the assignment on any given play was and it skews the evaluation.
  8. I disagree with respect to Oakman. He's an athletic freak in the same mold as WJ and I think, with the right environment, he could be amazing. The question is, are the Bombers that organization anymore? I would like to have seen him here but Jones *will* get the best out of him but again .. he's another vet who is getting on in years (32 or 33?).
  9. You mean aside from not throwing a TD during our playoff run. Hell, Zach played himself out of MoC consideration from week 9-10 on last year. He was terrible down the stretch.
  10. I know he’ s been one of everyone’s favourite whipping boys but Biggie quietly had himself a solid game and probably one of his best in awhile.
  11. Says the guy who suggested that pass pro for a RB was the easiest thing to do.
  12. That’s an uninspired signing but clearly the team isn’t happy with the young guys on the roster. Who would have thought our clusterf*ck of a preseason would come back to haunt us … oh .. wait … we all did.
  13. Was going to say the same thing but that would be more energy then he’s worth.
  14. No .. you’re not. Dobson should be better at this point.
  15. If we lose tonight it falls solely on the shoulders of the offensive line and their continued inability to protect our quarterbacks and move people off the line of scrimmage. The defense has done their part .. they’ve played pretty well for the most part.
  16. Amped up I think but you’re right, he’s never fit a ball into a tight window. That said, a lot of this has to do with him not having many / any opportunities to perform in the passing game.
  17. Sheehan undoes his fake with another shitty punt.
  18. You watch him in warmups before games and it’s pretty apparent he has more zip on his throws than Zach. Receivers are going to have to make an adjustment with how fast it gets on them .. Strev may also need to learn to take a bit off his throws.
  19. That was an awful RTP call. Around his shoulder pads .. come on CFL.
  20. Biggest bullshit no yards call.
