  1. Or .. on the dawn of a new season .. the sports media can cover the most successful franchise this city has.
  2. I just want to take a moment to recognize that, for the most part, we're doing a really good job of keeping this discussion civil and on point. Thank you all for that.
  3. I don't have that luxury 😂
  4. The subject of the quote is Pinball (you). The part referencing Ambrosie is a tangent. If she were referring to Ambrosie and that discussion, she would have said "He promised ..." As for your privilege, it's apparent by your "special interests" comments that you've led a very charmed life and I'll leave it at that.
  5. Give the whole quote: “Pinball, you said yesterday ‘We will give Chad Kelly all the support he needs.’ What are you doing to support your female staff that now have to face coming to work every day with a predator in the building? Have you even spoken to them about your decision to allow this? As I and many female staff members across the league have communicated to Randy Ambrosie, the handling of this extremely serious situation has been a complete and utter failure from top to bottom. You promised to go above and beyond the league recommendations. Yet at the first opportunity to do so, you did the complete opposite. You have only managed to downplay a serious situation and make women across the league feel unvalued, disrespected and unsupported. Do better.” This is directed at Pinball and also .. your privilege is showing just a bit.
  6. Bennett cut but Schmekel stays on the roster. Can’t fathom a world where Schmekel is seen as an asset
  7. It also means that if you're valuing the draft pick that highly, you should probably hit on a few draft picks.
  8. Much smaller population and audience which translates into significantly smaller broadcasting deals .. limited reach (in terms of global audience and awareness) and a somewhat insignificant approach over the years to grow the game at a grassroots level. Football is religion in the US (I know you know this well); Hockey is Canada's.
  9. My Henoc Muamba jersey is right there with yours.
  10. This is a complete aside but these types of deals (1 year) is a primary reason I haven't bought a "player jersey" in years. There's no incentive for me to if the player is gone the next year. It's either me repping my family or going old school with one of our greats.
  11. Guys .. I'll ask this once (because I sincerely hope you all can keep to the spirit of the rule that Rich has put in place for this board): PLEASE try to keep this discussion apolitical. Appreciate it. (as an FYI, I've pruned a few posts in this thread)
  12. I think the problem in Winnipeg is exasperated by the lack of density .. it lends itself to that completely "dead" feeling you get downtown after hours. When I first moved to Winnipeg 24 years ago now, I lived downtown (Donald and Broadway) and it was significantly more vibrant than it is now (not saying it was great but it certainly was better).
  13. More like ran it back for two years then ran it and fumbled on the 1 for the other two. The better team prevailed on those days but it still pisses me off that we weren't able to close out those other two Cups.
  14. I'm sure there will be a number of guys we've signed over the last little while who don't make it to camp. Happens every year.
  15. That got better once we added him later in the year.
  16. Sounds like one of the stages of grief .. acceptance. "I've come to terms with the fact I'm playing in Saskatchewan this year".
  17. If you couldn't see Biggie labouring and unable to make plays, I don't know what to tell you. He was not particularly good in that Grey Cup game and really had no business being on the field.
  18. I don't care where it comes from (rookie or free agency), I just want to see one powerful boat anchor of a man lining up at defensive tackle this season.
  19. I appreciate you folks keeping politics out of our football forum 😉
  20. You’re missing the point. You don’t need a RB who can put up 2000 yards from scrimmage to win in this league. You need a deep, complete roster (and a quarterback).
  21. This. Look, I'm happy Brady is a part of the team and I've also been an advocate of signing and retaining local players going back to my days on OB. However, if we look at the CFL (and running backs in general), it is a largely disposable position and I feel the money could have been better spent plugging holes across the roster. Hell, I'll even come out and say that if the the spend on Brady is what costs us Schoen, I'd be disappointed. "Bradyball" or not .. if he goes down, you're going to have to plug the spot with an American back anyways (see last year). Lose a guy like Schoen, we literally have nobody stepping in to fill that void. We have a terrible track record of integrating new WRs into our offense and seeing them any sort of have sustained success.
  22. There was a time not so long ago where we were in that very same boat .. that said .. ridiculous overpay.
