Might get winded just walking side line to side line. Hah!

I didn't find the name "Michael" jarring or out of the ordinary (but then again I know two different women named Michael)
-
Well played sir.

I've been one of those people who has called Adams 'disinterested' at times .. I stand by it. He's always been the kind of guy who, unless you get him involved early, has had a tendency to check out a bit .. it's in those moments you'll see him struggle with drops / consistency .. has the team made a more concerted effort to get him going .. maybe he drank the Koolaid is is more onboard with what we're doing offensively .. who knows. All I know is that he's playing to the level he's always been capable of and I'm damned appreciative of it. Doesn't change the fact that early in his career (and early in his time as a Bomber) he didn't always show that same level of effort.

Probably 2002 .. I think Khari and Milt both had career years that season.

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
voodoochylde replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Plays for the Pats, has won championships .. is a dominating presence at his position. Johnny Football on the other hand hasn't done anything of note (in the league) which would distract from his baggage. -
Nissan Pre-game Sideline Experience

Yeah. We haven't gotten ours yet either .. would be nice to take advantage of the other little perks though .. even just so my daughter can have the experience of being down on the sidelines. *shrug* -

Don't even know how to go about 'registering' or signing up for this .. didn't get a lot of info after we signed on to the Bomber For Life promotion -
Who has the better team: Calgary or Winnipeg?
voodoochylde replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'll just ask that posters keep this above board. We let a lot of back and forth go but some of the .. discourse .. hasn't been necessary. Appreciate it guys (and gals). -
Now we just have to get him out of that green and into something respectable.

What will it take to beat Edmonton?
voodoochylde replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm allowing for the slim possibility we don't get there in 60 minutes .. more than one way to skin a cat my friend. But so this thread is not completely derailed .. priority one is not letting Reilly extend plays with his legs. I don't have a whole lot of faith in our back end outside Heath and Randle. Yes .. Alexander and Walker showed well last game but those guys are still pretty green and Edmonton has the horses to make us pay if coverage breaks down (and they can do it in a hurry). -

Read it as 'over the course of 60 minutes' (typical football game) .. which is what I think the poster was getting at. Otherwise .. meh .. ;-) -

Unless there's overtime .. then let's say .. over 70 minutes? -
Happened to be behind someone once at CanadInns Stadium who thought it was a good idea to bring an umbrella to the game .. by the end, I was not a happy camper.
-
Yay corporate entity!! ? If there's any consolation, at least the fans have stopped cheering themselves (or for True North S&E at a football game) after the "True North" during the anthem.
-
Just a couple of quotes from a "knowledgeable CFL guru's": Outside a poster here, who said he lacked commitment to football?
-
It's about perspective and I do believe that *many* people lack that around here (and I would argue most fan bases) when it comes to the CFL, high draft picks and the impact they are expected to make. Am I happy with every pick we make? No. I hated the Richards pick with a passion for example (because I thought there were more impactful players available who also fit that need, receiver specifically).
-
So .. you're quoting a bunch of fans? Also 5th ranked prospect (might as well use the CFL Scouting Bureau rankings): https://www.cfl.ca/2017/04/13/senior-tops-final-cfl-scouting-bureau-ranking/ I would suggest to you that "need" from an organizational perspective .. with what Walters et al are envisioning .. isn't of the immediate variety but rather with the concept of long term roster construction and flexibility in mind (ie. how our team is built), it also means providing depth. Would it have been nice if Ekakitie could have come in and blown the doors off during training camp and won a starting spot outright? Sure. It wasn't necessary.
-
He wasn't selected to fill an immediate need. We had no immediate need. This is the luxury we have with the depth Walters has built these last three years. So your definition of "impact" is playing limited snaps .. rotating occasionally .. so kind of like what's he's done to this point (based on game day needs, game day roster decisions etc). Great! We're ahead of the curve then.
-
Out of curiousity, what would you consider impactful? What contribution would you expect a first year player to make who plays behind an established veteran and two fairly dominant imports?
-
He's a defensive tackle who has played limited snaps .. 'stats' don't always tell the whole story. Hell .. Nevis is sitting at just over 1 tackle a game .. Johnson is the same .. and these are the guys who are getting regular playing time.
-
He was the most 'pro ready' .. still doesn't mean he's going to step in and make an impact right away, especially when he's playing behind guys like Nevis, Johnson and Thomas (who is having a very solid year). Also, with our NI depth we have the luxury of allowing him to develop and get familiar with the Canadian game .. to acclimatize to the demands of our faster style of play .. why are people so quick to label Ekakitie a bust? He's played well enough in spot duty.

Game day thread: Ottawa QuarterBLACKS vs Bomber BYES
voodoochylde replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It shouldn't be close but this team, at times, has shown a tendency to play down to an opponent's level. Also, as 17to85 pointed out, Lapo doesn't keep the pedal to the metal when they jump out big .. we get way too conservative. For once, I'd love to see us keep the boots to an opponent when they are down. -

Queuing Wiceck and Friesen in 4 .. 3 .. 2 .. -
This is more than a little surprising to me. I know Flanders being on the field essentially limits our ability to put Thorpe on the game day roster but he (Thorpe) had tools. Fought hard for yards, was willing to get dirty ..
