We actually ran more in the first half than we did the second (11 designed running plays to 10 - 9 if you count a Nichols scramble). The difference is that we had markedly better starting field position and ran more offensive plays overall in the first. We simply kept Hamilton off the field. In the second half, we *were* more productive on first down .. we simply failed to convert and, as I alluded to earlier, ran almost 50% fewer plays in the second half of the game.

This. I am all for giving the "second half offense" under Nichols the benefit of the doubt but for a unit that is really struggling to find success over the course of 60 minutes, I hate seeing any kind of let down. The offense needs an identity, keep a foot on the throat of your opponent and do not let them off the mat. All that said, this win is very nice and I'm enjoying it.

This I could see as well. Fogg acquitted himself nicely when given a chance to return and not sure how 'game ready' Denmark will be. That said, he (Denmark) does have a level of familiarity with Nichols and LaPolice .. so the learning curve isn't steep, it's just about game speed at this point.

I'm guessing Sheppard, JFG, Kohlert, Denmark, Davis will be the guys drawing in ..

It's nice when we can have a rookie Canadian step in and not feel like we need to hide him somewhere on the defense. Solid outing from Loffler and is turning out to be a steal from this past draft.

Just because the O-Line is the best one the Bombers have had in that time frame doesn't mean that they are any good. I'm not letting Willy off the hook because he was ineffectual last night but on a lot of the deeper stuff, he was getting buried before he had a chance to throw and unlike Reilly, he had no pocket to step up into. Yes, there were instances where the line gave Willy time to throw the ball and there wasn't a whole lot open downfield. Willy needs to use his release valves and make that decision more quickly. He absolutely needs to be more accurate on the intermediate routes because until we can prove otherwise, the MO to blowing up this offense will be to sit on the underneath stuff and constantly bring heat on first down. Put this team behind the sticks and we are in a world of hurt as an offense.

If Waggoner shows well at Safety .. nothing stopping Sherman from backing him up at that spot. There are plenty of options and tonnes of flexibility right now.

Takes selfish penalties .. gets abused by bigger more physical receivers and is largely overrated by Bomber fans in general. He's simply a faster / more ellusive version of Robert Bean .. a guy that relies on his athleticism to make plays but is far from the most sound guy in coverage.
