  1. You are confused. Rider Green never comes off. The fans stick with this team no matter what. Rumours of our demise are wishful thinking and nothing more. Even if no one goes to the game, there is nearly 30k tickets sold. Don't worry we'll be back So what you're saying is that "Rider Green" is like herpes? Never goes away but flares up once in awhile?
  2. **** happens in sports. I can live with the occasional missed call. That's the human element in any game. We don't need in game reviews to show referees they've missed something. This already goes on. These guys are graded out .. teams submit video to the league .. they are well aware when they've screwed up. What I can't accept is a coach throwing a flag on a hope and prayer on the off chance that a defensive back may have gotten a hand in a little early, made slight contact before the ball arrived or some other minuscule infraction that may result in a large impact on the game. That's essentially what we see now .. it's a lottery system for coaches. Expanding the scope only makes it worse. I *HATE* PI review with a passion. Even though we've benefited from it since it's implementation .. I still detest it with every fibre of my being because of how it negatively affects the flow / tempo of the game and how coaches treat it as a lottery ticket.
  3. No .. just no. Reviewing PI as it stands now is one of the most ridiculous rules we've implemented in the game. It's a cringe worthy lottery ticket. Let players play and keep the tempo of the game intact. These superfluous challenges just bog down the game .. it kills flow and grinds things to a halt .. and make referees more dependent on booth review's and coach instigated challenges instead of simply getting the initial call right.
  4. This is the biggest thing to me. Our receivers aren't good enough, we can't seem to find an impact player on the opposite side of Westerman on the DL, the OL has been changing players constantly for the entire time Walters has been here. We've had a bunch of good rbs but none that have really grabbed the job by the balls and taken it. For my money this roster just flat out isn't good enough to start blaming the coach. I would reserve judgement on the running back situation as our running game, in general, is a complete mess. Blocking, inconsistent use and a mediocre passing game have all worked against the guys in the backfield. My one thought is that Marshall has been criminally underused this season - both catching and running the ball - and the near constant rotation of backs during the game does nothing to help establish a rhythm there.
  5. Dude, I think everyone should be a winner. I vote no coin toss and everyone gets rewarded for just being on the field. This would also allow us to field an all Canadian team. No coin toss. Both teams kick off at the same time. No coverage teams. Everyone having fun!
  6. The only changes I want to see are the removal of rules / situations that are open to interpretation or are the subject of a judgement call. Make things black and white. Remove opportunities for officials to insert themselves into the flow of games.
  7. Wooo! Start of a streak! ;-)
  8. Still don't get how on Earth they haven't done a GC Let's not start now .. please.
  9. No .. I'm sure there are still a number of excessively proud teams out there ..
  10. We went to the Grey Cup in 2011. And in a 8 (9) team league .. a league where 75% of the teams make the playoffs .. does it really matter if you have a winning record or not? Is making the playoffs all that big of an accomplishment? If anything, not making the playoffs is a stronger indictment of an organization than lack of a winning record. As an organization, we've made the playoffs 8 of the last 14 (likely 15) years and only once since 2008. Granted we took that 2011 run all the way to the Cup .. but it's the inconsistency and inability to build and maintain a winning environment that's troubling.
  11. I get the frustration with losing .. really I do .. I'm as diehard a football fan there is but even I've had a tough time getting excited going to games the last couple of seasons. Part of it is the losing. Part of it is the constant change in management, coaching .. inability to identify with players. It's hard, as a fan, to make a connection with this team. But over the course of the last 15 years (since 2000 anyway), we've been in the big show as much as any other team in the CFL .. with the exception of Montreal .. the only difference is that we haven't cashed in on our opportunities. I'm not showing this to advocate patience, just throwing the numbers out there for discussion purposes. We win one of those championships .. a lot of this talk simply goes away .. win a few more games in the regular season .. a lot of this goes away.

  13. For a second there I thought you meant The Band... which would be awesome... although I don't believe they are still together... Back in 2000 I believe the Guess Who's instruments were pre-recorded while Burt did sing live. Something about the cold affecting guitars? The cold weather would absolutely affect the tuning... legit reason in my books This would make it worth the price of the ticket... but I'm not holding my breath.... Foo Fighters would be a major coup .. would be awesome for the league and for Winnipeg .. but I have my doubts this is happening.
  14. Totally probable .. but folks around these parts can't burn anyone at the stake if that's the case.
  15. Bombay Sapphire with tonic .. Caorunn neat ..
  16. To be fair, in a three party (more) system .. a single party getting 40% of the vote is an incredible accomplishment and a solid mandate to be sure.
  17. That is correct......When is the last 5-13 team to make the playoffs lol. When was the last time a 5-13 team went on to the Grey Cup? Not saying it would happen but what a laugh that would be.
  18. Shouldn't he design the O around Drew Willy's skill set? And be competent enough to make adjustments in his scheme if personnel change due to injury or circumstance. Enough of trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.
  19. tried that already.... NFL isn't much better. Although I like seeing Adrian Peterson get 8 carries for minus one yard. Alex Smith and Chiefs are brutal. one yard passing after first quarter. I enjoyed seeing Glenn turtle after a sack. I might miss glenn when he's gone. Embrace the power of NFL Sunday Ticket my son ..
  20. My simple two minutes before I have to run to a meeting post: Their defense was solid last season as well .. that side of the ball has played well under Nelson .. this offseason, they made a significant splash by acquiring a number of solid receivers .. drops, by and large last year, killed that team offensively .. I also think that, after the rough start to the season, Burris is playing remarkably well. He's managed to stay healthy and they are taking advantage of teams who have seen their starting pivot go down. That said, do I think they are a much better team than the Bombers? No. Not at all. I think we are held back by lackluster line play and a coordinator whose game plans are more often miss than hit.
  21. You might just get your wish the way things are going. Dogs chasing frisbees it is then. Heh.
  22. Second round pick for Hamilton's record?
  23. BC and Winnipeg cannot mathematically host a playoff game. Edmonton and Calgary have it tied up. Best either team can do is 3rd in the West. Okay. Thanks. The question was asked of O'Shea tonight and he was baffled. You're clearly more on the ball then me and O'Shea tonight. Feel free to delete this thread No .. you shall forever wear the shame of your idle speculation. STICKY THIS!
