Yeah, that'll absolutely help his confidence....good call. We're in the business of winning football games and he's now cost us at least two. **** his confidence. Couldn't agree more. Why are we suddenly treating players like fragile babies? They're professional athletes who are paid to make plays. Lirim's performance was unacceptable. I wouldn't cut him but he needs to take a seat on the bench. If he can't respond from being cut, how will he ever be able to respond with big kicks? They should be bringing in guys who can do the job. Why must we be so invested in a kicker simply because he's Canadian? He's either good enough .. consistent enough .. to do the job or he isn't. Give me one person who can do all three jobs .. I don't care if they are Canadian, American or Martian. Just put the ball through the ******* uprights with some regularity.

Yup, for sure. Ever since Nichols got here we've seen some improvement in the playcalling. The play calling hasn't improved .. we've simply seen competent play (in stretches) from the QB position. The game planning and play calling .. in game adjustments .. are as inconsistent as they've ever been.

Ha-rouge-llahu hasn't earned anything from a single year of success in the CFL .. if it wasn't for his passport, he'd have been sent packing long ago. It's a joke that he's allowed to miss kick after kick and still be allowed to trot out onto the field.

Yesterday it wasn't terrible play calling .. it was simply a lack of execution. That said, there are times where our illustrious OC looks completely out of touch with the tempo and flow of the game .. there are also times, where you watch plays develop and receivers are running their routes to the same depth .. they are in the same vicinity .. there's nothing that pushes the coverage off / draws defenders off a route .. whether that's play design ir on the receiver .. I don't know .. we also have one of the slowest developing run games going .. it's maddening to watch.

Hey guys .. as a moderator on the site .. and someone who has strong feelings about our political system .. I simply wanted to say that I appreciate the tone and intelligence in this discussion. It could easily devolve into partisan nonsense but, for the most part, there has been good back and forth. Kudos to you guys for making my job easy!

Winnipeggers ARE cheap .. people in this city are always looking to get something for nothing ..that said, when there is a need to pull together and support others .. to support a good cause ..the people of this city can be incredibly generous.

Hamilton has the defense to punch above it's weight and keep them in every game they play. If Mathews can be effective as a game manager, and there's no reason to think he can't be successful given his history with Austin / Condell, they will still be a force ..

It absolutely needs to be done .. makes for a healthier league all around ..

Why do people always equate "mobile QB" with a QB who runs? Mobility, first and foremost, is about extending the play .. awareness .. moving around in the pocket .. and yes, occassionally taking off and running the ball. Our starting quarterback is a "mobile" quaterback .. he's not some statue in the pocket in the mold of Peyton Manning, Phillip Rivers or Danny McManus .. but his ability to move and extend a play with his legs is a vastly under-rated part of his game. No, he's not the same athlete as a Riley or Collaros but he does get the job done when he's forced to use his legs. That said .. if we can lock Nichols up going into next year .. that's not a bad thing .. he's proven he can win games .. is unfraid to push the ball downfield (for good and bad) .. and is a guy who can step in and still provide you with an "effective" offensive leader. Is he in the same tier as Willy? No.. but he doesn't need to be. All he need to be able to do is move the offensive IF his number is called.

Totally agree. I was never a fan of MOS as a player but you can tell by his time as a coach in TO that he can coach and knows the game very well. But in TO he had some very athletic players. Thanks to Walters, he has a lousy lineup with atrocious depth. So he's burning out. Same thing happened with LAPO here. Lame GM (Mack) kept feeding him garbage players and he's supposed to make chicken salad out of it. I absolutely guarantee -- if MOS was in Sask with their old, poorly built Taman team he would suck there too. But put him in Hammer or Calgary and he'd have a winning record. I actually disagree completely... not that our talent is perfect... but we have some good players, and as we've proven in 2 games against Calgary, good enough to compete with the league's best... I would challenge your last statement by saying what if we swapped coaching staffs with Calgary?... I think we would have 7 or 8 wins by now with that staff... Another example.... Pat Del Monaco is a disastrous O-line coach here.... yet he looks like a genius in Calgary even when they played a couple games missing 3 regular starters... that's not including the losses of Jones and Bryant... We do have some good players, but look what happened when our starting qb got hurt... had to go dumpster diving and bring in someone from another CFL team. Look at all the receivers we went through trying to find one who could play when we had injuries to Moore and Adams, look what happened when Cotton got hurt, had to go dumpster diving again and bring in Walker. When 100% healthy yes this team can compete with anyone, but injuries **** this team hard. The depth sucks. Period end of discussion. Marshall is a damn good running back .. and he's criminally under used by MB .. the Walker signing was pointless.

Nope I disagree. A big part of the appeal is the Canadian players. Not just because I am Canadian and patriotic but because of the added roster intrigue. How do you juggle the roster in order to field the best possible lineup? How often have we all had that discussion? Remove the Canadians and it just becomes the B-League to the NFL, for what would really amount to a very slight improvement in the skill level. Absolutely agree. The thing that separates the good teams from the bad in this league are the Canadians .. and it's not just the ratio breakers but the lunch pail guys and how they are used to build your roster. It doesn't always have to be about the line .. you see successful teams building their rosters with NIs at skilled positions .. and we have, over the years, drafted guys at RB .. WR .. etc .. our problem is that we've never effectively used any of those guys .. or, in the case of our last two WR prospects, became more enamored with potential and athleticism as opposed to that person's ability to make an impact.

They can't get replays right at the best of time .. the last thing I want is MORE opportunity to go to replay .. game flow right now sucks enough as it is.

Wonder if any of those people ragging on O'Shea for not "making sure the players were lined up properly" are prepared to issue statements of their own. Heh.

Play calling, per usual, went really conservative out of the gate after the half. Double tight. Middle run. Short gain. Results in a quick two and out and we never found a rythmn on offence until we were in the hurry up .. with 1:50 left in the game .. where the OC isn't necessarily in the equation ..

Have to echo what other's have said regarding apathy .. I'm going to the game tonight .. taking my daughter (wife wants no part of the game) .. but I'm not gung ho about it .. honestly, even this past Sunday .. I was more interested in NFL football as opposed to a dreary CFL broadcast (especially given that we were being thumped).

I don't mind the gold jersey's to be honest .. they are simple and understated .. rather dig the kit myself ..

Yes .. let's turn our noses up at the chance to land an impact non-import player .. a guy who would start whether he was Canadian or not .. clearly our glut of talent precludes our interest.
