Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
voodoochylde replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You folks pining away for Higgins DO remember that the organization felt so enamoured by his start last year that they were compelled to trot out (the shell of) Don Matthews in an inspirational / consultative capacity right? There are reasons he's unemployed. Him not being hired by Popp is least among them. -

Signage to help them in their search .. -
No .. but you NEED to have someone who isn't simply filling a jersey in the middle of your defence. Hiding a guy on the wide side of the field is one thing .. trying to do it down the middle is something else entirely.
-
Simple problem .. he should look better than he is given that he's played for Hall in this defence .. he may make the odd play (right place at the right time) but he rarely gets home on his pressures .. doesn't get off blocks particularly well .. he lacks range and fluidity in general .. he's essentially a TED linebacker out there absorbing bodies and letting guys like Bass make plays. So for me, his play is underwhelming. I expect more of an impact from that spot. It feels like we are trying to hide a NI in such a way so that he won't be a terrible liability.

It's better to be the hammer than the nail for a change. We've had so many soft players come through here in the past several years it's refreshing to get one that pounds opponents. I haven't liked a LBer this much in their rookie season since Joe Lobendahn. Need more guys on this team who are willing to set the tone.

Geesus .. ain't he a peach.

Google Tom Lukiwski, MP and current Parliamentary Secretary then consider this a case of the pot calling the kettle black. That said, each party is going to have candidates with a few skeletons in their closets .. you'd hope that the people vetting these individuals would do a more thorough job and ensure they are fit to represent the values of their constituents and Canada as a whole. Im not saying its a Liberal problem. Just saying. Probably more a NDP problem actually as their candidates have been saying some goofy things. But the anti-Semitic nature of the NDP doesnt seem so much a nut job position as a general NDP one. The comment from the Liberal candidate is just foolish if you want to be an elected official in Canada and she certainly seems like a miserable human being. Not disagreeing in the least. I just always find it funny how this sort of information is brought to light .. in this case, a decidedly Conservative blog, has chosen to shine a light on a "vicious candidate" running for Trudeau .. when in fact there are elected Conservative MPs / Cabinet members who have offered up equally repugnant comments. .. Those in glasses houses and all ..

I think it can simply be summed up with one word: effort. I can empathize with Simmons because of his effort and impact when he's on the field, practice etc. Grigsby, on the other hand, simply checked out and his effort waned. I can't respect that. You may not be getting playing time but you damn well better do right by your teammates, coaches and the organization in the event you are called upon.

I won't begrudge Hamilton their arrogance or their success. This was an organization that was a doormat for years .. but year after year .. their fans came out .. supported an abysmal team in the dump at Ivor Wynne. It took that franchise the better part of a decade but they've built a culture (around this coach and that team) of winning .. they expect to win week in week out .. to impose their will on their opponents .. good on the Cats.

Finally, a QB durable enough to play in an MB offence ...
voodoochylde replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I say this (sort of) tongue and cheek .. maybe it's because then he doesn't have to worry - as much - about protecting his QB .. the athletes "natural escapability" kicks in. -

Need to temper expectations somewhat .. Marve .. even in limited reps last game (and coming in at a point in time where it didn't REALLY matter) demonstrated some questionable decision making .. those are going to be the growing pains of rolling with Marve. As dynamic as he's going to look at times .. moving the ball with his feet and naively trusting his arm to get a ball into tight spots .. there are going to be plenty of, "What the hell is he doing?!?" moments. That said, I'd easily rather sit through that than if the Bombers trotted Brohm out for a game or two.

Did you know something at the time that we didn't?!? Nothing other than knowing that 42 pages of gloating would eventually come back to bite us in the ass .. if it wasn't an embarrassing loss to the "Owen" Riders .. it was going to be something .. karma (it seems) is a *****. -
[MERGED] Drew Willy Watch 3.0 Has Ended
voodoochylde replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Each of those quarterbacks have previous CFL exposure .. expecting an American QB to come in here and make any sort of impact without having previously experienced the league is not in the realm of realistic. (Smith was on the Argos PR last year) And Cato? Was with Montreal in camp this year .. but I'd suggest his success is more an exception than the rule .. -

So reminiscent of how this organization failed to protect Khari ... what's the point of investing in a franchise quarterback if you are incapable of protecting him .. that .. first and foremost .. NEEDS to be the priority. -

@Wpg_BlueBombers Drew Willy out 6-8 weeks with tibial plateau fracture & partial PCL tear in his right knee. Forgive me when I say this ... **** . -
Trying too hard to make something happen .. best returners make one move and get up field .. he's dancing around too much or thinking he can get outside of everyone (his blocking included) to make a play. Never should have taken Veltung off returns. Case of fixing something that wasn't broke.
