  1. If you've been knocked out .. you've suffered a concussion. That's not true. A concussion is a very specific injury and there's a lot of misinformation out there. You also don't have to be knocked out to suffer one. I've been in sessions done by the Dr. who works with the NHL on concussion research. He also said you heal almost instantly, the actual injury that is. You may suffer some lasting effects however. Everyone is different. He said the most dangerous aspect is taking a second hit shortly after. As in the same day. You can recover quite quickly from one. If you have been knocked out .. you have suffered a concussion. Full stop. Here's the actual medical definition for you: "The formal medical definition of concussion is a clinical syndrome characterized by immediate and transient alteration in brain function, including alteration of mental status and level of consciousness, resulting from mechanical force or trauma." Simply put, a concussion IS a traumatic brain injury. It's not more specific than that. There are a host of accompanying symptoms and those resulting symptoms can manifest themselves differently in each individual but I'd suggest that being knocked out is an "alteration of mental status and level of consciousness". ;-)
  2. I think this one has run it's course.
  3. If it was a concussion .. he'll go through whatever protocol has been defined by the league .. and if he's passed whatever testing is required .. is at his baseline .. the next step would be to see how he respond to exerting himself to see if it brings on symptoms. If he's symptom free after this .. there's no benefit to having him sit another week .. it's not like a sprain or a strain where the extra time to heal does you good .. you could take a huge shot and be completely fine .. a seemingly innocuous shot could trigger another concussion. Each and every person responds differently to a TBI. Again, this is all just speculation but it bodes well for his chances of playing if he's already out on the field.
  4. If you've been knocked out .. you've suffered a concussion.
  5. @WFPEdTait 20s21 seconds ago #Bombers are on the practice field, INCLUDING QB Drew Willy, who is in full gear + wearing his helmet. Will update on how much he plays #bn
  6. The problem with Glenn is that he can put up all the statistics in the world, look like an all-star .. but fail to deliver in the clutch.
  7. Having to go for 2 in OT isn't a new rule. In that case, I don't like any part of the new rules. I'm with you on this.
  8. They aren't but most people 'round these parts lack a little thing called perspective.
  9. No real point of discussion here .. please keep the talk relevant and football related. *THIS* doesn't really serve a purpose. PM me if you have an issue with this being shut down.
  10. Going to just close this down. You can comment on games (including officiating) within their specific threads.
  11. I thought contact was allowed within 5 yards of the los, has that changed? Yup. That's why you need man coverage now, Hall's bend-not-break zone has DBs sitting 5-10 yards back trying to 'read' the route Part of it could be that Hurl and Randle are just in over their head... Again.. How is this hurls issue? Does he cover #1,2 or even 3rd option receivers? No. He did his job against the run and his blitzes were never his strong suit. Your concern is misguided. Randle tho, I agree. He looks bad. Real bad at SAM. Dunno if that is due to him covering for others or just not his best position.. Ah yes, an MLB with no closing speed, just what every team wants. Hash mark to hash mark baby .. wait ..
  12. I don't either, but what other choice is there if Willy can't go? Brohm is yet another in a long string of noodle-arms that have come and gone. He looks like a hybrid between Mike Quinn and Max Hall. Which is why I had to laugh at the 'Brohm is the best backup since Pat Barnes' comment. If "Purolator Pat" is the benchmark we have for measuring backup QBs against .. we're in trouble.
  13. Sometimes when I read posts like this I honestly think I must live in an alternate universe, and some here are definitely in dreamland. Do you guys just pass out automatically when Marve is on the field? Is that why you can't see what he does on the run? I also don't get this need by some here to crap on Marve. Why don't you like him? Did he pee in your corn flakes or something? For the record .. Marve *IS* a 50% passer in the CFL .. That said, he's fun to watch .. he extends plays with his legs .. and his team SEEMS to respond to him .. the problem is he's not the type of QB our OC can tailor an offense to .. we're essentially trying to stick a square peg in a round hole .. asking a mobile athlete to be a drop back passer .. and make no mistake .. at this point .. Marve is still simply an athlete learning the pro game .. and the CFL game. Do I think he could be a capable quarterback in the CFL? Absolutely. Was I hoping to see him get some reps late in the game last night? Absolutely. Do I think he's ready to lead this team? Not at all. But he's taking charge in ways that he can .. Cotton started to lose it on the field at one point late in the game last night .. it was Marve who came out and pulled him aside and was talking to him .. the guy has gifts .. but he needs more time to develop them.
  14. And yet Westerman still leads the team in sacks (not that that's saying much at this point) .. The more I watch this defense .. the more apparent it is that certain players are simply being misused .. a case in point is that Randle has gone from being an all-star calibre cornerback .. a guy QBs stayed away from .. to being a liability at LB ..
  15. I don't necessarily think the backfield is weak, I *DO* think that they aren't being used effectively and .. in the case of Randle .. aren't being played in the best possible position.
  16. It's a bad home loss ... expect anything less?
  17. I'll ask that people keep things respectful. Posts will get turfed. Threads will get locked. Beyond that, Brohm was terrible tonight. Inspires ZERO confidence in this team.
  18. Just went for a coffee run and it *FEELS* like it's going to rain tonight .. hoping it holds off though.
  19. Rankings exist for three reasons: *To help further enable addicted gamblers who don't follow football but still want to bet on it * act as website filler content * the internet is obsessed with lists. Fixed that for you.
  20. In what position? He was out there a lot on offense (FB)
  21. Going to ask this once .. keep politics in the general forum ... Please continue the discussion there
  22. I think the only time I've ever really seen Calvillo struggle (after he'd established himself in Montreal) was when Bellefeuille was the coordinator there. That season was a complete gong show from a protection standpoint and Calvillo got abused.
  23. I know the name Jock Sanders has been floating around a bit .. now sure if that's who it is though.
  24. It was Pontbriand. Right at the point of attack too, without that illegal block there may not have been much of a return to regret. Your definition of "point of attack" is certainly different from mine .. Pontbriand was about 10 yards away from the returner when he engaged the Rider player .. really didn't need to touch him at that point as there was already a decent seam for Veltung to hit.
