  1. In this day and age .. players don't usually stay long enough with a team for fans to really feel a connection to them .. so I definitely agree with what you're saying. My last jersey was Muamba .. (was a toss up between that and Stegall when I was getting it done) and I wish I'd gone Stegall because I don't think we see Henoc in Blue and Gold again.
  2. This team needs non imports who can step in and make an impact immediately. Best player available.
  3. Which is why I find it absolutely laughable that people might suggest O'Shea's job might have been in jeopardy as well .. A coach needs more than one year to put his stamp on a team .. unless you completely poop the bed right out of the gate .. one (or less than one) and done is setting yourself up to become a circus.
  4. Is a quote from someone??? Cuz it's just plain wrong... Cutler, Forte, Bennett, Marshall, Jeffery.... they have some of the best offensive weapons in the NFL... Defence is a different story though... Speaking as a Bears fan .. I've never been a fan of Jay Cutler. His demeanor. His leadership. His inconsistency. He's just not one of those elite talents. That said, he's easily the best quarterback the Bears have had in ages and I feel that, offensively, they don't do enough to take advantage of the weapons that they have. When you've got guys who are: 6'3, 6'4, 6'6 (Jeffrey, Marshall and Bennett) and arguably the best all purpose back in the NFL and you are still struggling .. The defensive side of the ball is a hot mess and Mel Tucker simply has to go (though Phil Emery hasn't done that team any favors with his drafting and he's been hit and miss in the FA game). They are soft against the run. Have piss poor safety play. Do not have that presence at middle linebacker that Bears teams have always had (and is ill suited to play in a Tampa-2). The defense is bad. Epically bad. Not going to get into this further (because this isn't a Bears forum) but I'll simply say this. When a team comes out and lays a deuce like they did .. against a division rival .. after a bye week .. it's on the coaches. Plain and simple.
  5. Thought I was the only one that noticed this ..
  6. One could only dream.
  7. I don't think anyone is getting worked up .. rather discussing the interesting timing and odd circumstances around such a move .. Norris isn't an impact player and whether or not he remained on our roster isn't a big deal .. but the point of exploration is the oddity of the schedule and how it might be at play in this situation.
  8. Good point. Our season isn't over .. it's a Winnipeg bye week .. for all intents and purposes the season is done but from a strictly "book keeping" perspective .. we wrap our season the same week as everyone else.
  9. @DarrinBauming 16m16 minutes ago Versatile Canadian LB Kyle Norris finished the year on the #Bombers practice roster. A free agent, he signed with the Alouettes today. ‏@DarrinBauming 14m14 minutes ago Normally a player acquired from another team's PR needs to be activated immediately. In this case, Winnipeg's season is over. Free agent. @DarrinBauming 12m12 minutes ago Very grey area. Pretty weird.
  10. +1 to that .. please someone summarize the presser for us poor SOBs caught in meetings ..
  11. oh there was no possibly about it. They were some kinda special bad. You know it was bad when the defensive coordinator basically tosses in the towel because of the head coach and his meddling .. it was a defense that lacked *ANY* clear direction .. identity .. or fight.
  12. I absolutely believe this to be true. I think, it was after last game, Bob Irving noted that our offense doesn't seem to have any safety valves built into it. The one example that was used was with respect to running backs assisting in pass protection and how in most offenses, they'd chip and then release out into the flats to present a target. Both he, and Doug Brown, noticed that hasn't been the case with the Bomber offense. Now, whether that's the result of a guy not knowing what his assignment is or a fundamental issue with the scheme we are running .. I don't know .. I'm not privy to that information. But I tend to think that, if a quarterback like Anthony Calvillo (a guy with a reasonably quick release and who could read a defense) struggled in the system .. and his line struggled to keep him upright .. that there are probably fundamental issues with that system and how it translates to your protection schemes. All that said, there were more than just offensive scheme issues at play last game and any time a QB takes a sack .. there's more than just bad line play (or QB play) that caused it.
  13. part of putting your opinion out there is subjecting it to the judgement of the masses. Not every opinion is valid or good and if you can't handle people judging your opinions then lurking is the best place for someone to be. As for homers. gloomers or whatever else, it's not about being negative, it's just that some people do fall into these categories. I can think of some people who always say positive things about the team, and I can think of people who do massively under rate things about this team. This isn't about disagreeing with opinions, it's about some people always acting in the same way. I like to think that I am a positive person in general with regards to the Bombers, but I can point out when something isn't good enough without resorting to the hyperbole that some people seem to need to do. Flaws can be pointed out without the doom and gloom. Positives can be pointed out without being a kool aid drinker. A lot of people here don't seem to get that though. Then judge people's opinions, I have no issues with that. Calling someone stupid, dumb, or any personal insult is what I have issue with. That includes calling someone's opinion stupid. If you feel that passionately about what someone typed to actually respond to it, then tell them why you disagree with it, not simply that it is a dumb opinion. I've seen message boards were new people posting are jumped on by multiple different people when they post. Haven't really seen it happen here, but that pack mentality is bad for message boards. I am sorry but some opinions are stupid and deserve to be called so. To not do it is to do a disservice to people. They will go on continuing to think just because it's their opinion that it's valid and right because everyone is entitled to their opinions. That is not true at all. If you give someone constructive criticism, then you have given them the exact reason why what they said is wrong. Words like stupid, other than the fact that they are insulting, are too vague. They don't explain why they're wrong. Also, if you bash someone's opinion more (insulting more than constructive), then the other person may be even more defiant and get defensive and continue to back up their incorrect opinion. My $.02. That is what separates the people who just want to hear themselves ***** and moan and vent and the people who actually have some solid reasoning behind their opinions. If you can't defend your opinion it's probably invalid. If you can defend it though then you're ahead of the game. It's kind of amazing that a 14 year old kid gets it better than a grown adult. In any intelligent discussion .. if you have to resort to base name calling .. regardless of the opinion, subject matter or how you feel about a given topic. You've lost. Lack of civility almost always derails any rational exchange; it resuls in polarization and limits the ability to find a middle ground. If anything, people who resort to name calling are the ones, ".. who just want to hear themselves ***** and moan .." because they show themselves unwilling to participate in thoughtful conversation. /shrug. At any rate, I hope we can return to discussing football .. the end of this season and what's on the horizon for next year .. I hate having to lock topics.
  14. I want penalties to be called too. I just don't want it to affect the flow of the game and IMO, it does. Bombers aside, this has been the lowest quality of CFL football in quite some time. A lot of that has to do with the penalty parade. Something has to change and this is just a compromise that benefits the fans. If penalties are called and applied CONSISTENTLY (and that's the biggest issue in the CFL) then players will learn and adapt .. as it stands right now, players don't know what to expect from an officiating crew from week to week .. or game to game .. I'm of the mind that if it's a penalty .. throw a flag.
  15. Problem with a lot of posters (in general) is that when times are tough .. they lack the ability to step back and look at what's going on objectively .. did Willy have a perfect season? Hell no. But there are a tonne of positives to build on and you can see he's easily the best quarterback we've had here in a long while. All I can hope is that we haven't absolutely crushed the guy because we didn't do enough to protect him. it quite the opposite I'm looking at things as objectively as can be done. I'm pointing out obvious negatives willy has and needs to work on, I'm not saying I want him gone. It's not my problem it took you guys so long to see these obvious faults because you were too clouded by hope to look at things objectively and we're too excited with willys start to the season. No you aren't looking at things objectively .. this post (below) shows you are anything but objective: I pointed out to you that earlier in the year he did a great number of these things .. and did them exceptionally well .. your response was to not acknowledge *ANY* of those successes .. as for my part, I have no hand in the game .. I didn't have high expectations .. hope .. or fantasies as to how this season might unfold .. I understood we wouldn't be a great team this year .. I thought we would struggle .. and while it was great that we started strongly I never once suggested it would last or that this should be the norm. I've *ALWAYS* preached patience and that things are never as good (or bad) as many people seem to believe. It's called perspective. I understand that a young quarterback is going to struggle .. there are going to be up and downs in a game .. ups and downs in a season .. especially so when you are a team as bereft of talent as we are .. as hampered by injuries as we have been .. when you can't put together protection or a running game consistently ..

  17. Bo Levi Mitchell also has ... The single best running back in the CFL today on his team .. (Arguably) the best offensive line in front of him .. One of the most prolific CFL quarterbacks of his time as an offensive co-ordinator .. Former CFL quarterback as his head coach .. I should hope that Mitchell and Tate look good in Calgary. That said, all those things you've mentioned ..Willy was doing very well at the start of the year .. He was progressing through his reads remarkably well .. he was extending plays with his legs CONSTANTLY .. showed good touch when going deep and allowed his receivers to make plays .. demonstrated very good mechanics .. showed great composure as evidenced by his multiple game winning drives early in the season .. The simple fact is Willy is playing hurt .. ankle .. shoulder .. hand .. he has taken a considerable beating over the course of this season .. the offensive line has been a work in progres ALL YEAR LONG .. there hasn't been continuity from week to week .. be it performance .. or bodies .. there has simply been no consistency .. we've had no running game to speak of .. which is EASILY the most important thing that can help a young quarterback out .. I'm not sure what you or anyone else was expecting in this first year under O'Shea .. it was not going to be miracle work .. it was very likely not going to the playoffs .. we were (are) a bad team with little depth moving to a historically more competitve division .. all I expect is that next year, we show progress .. improve talent (both top end and depth) .. and work on acquiring some NIs ..
  18. That's kind of like the way I golf. I get the ball to the right area…but not with, what you might call, a good swing. I am blessed (suffer) from the same thing .. LOFT .. Lack of F@cking Talent ..
  19. Kirk Penton ‏@PentonKirk 32s32 seconds ago #Riders have released Will Ford. #Ticats have signed Nic Grigsby. #Bombers
  20. Instead of over-reacting .. simply read the news .. or don't .. it's your choice .. we also welcome and post news from across the CFL .. not just the Bombers ..
  21. And hand grenades. Was just about to say that ..
  22. Who said Etch can't make adjustments to his philosophy ..
  23. But if he has a great game and the Bombers win, does he start again next week, even if Willy is healthy? No. He doesn't .. if Willy is healthy and the team is committed to him as our starting quarterback .. you let Willy play .. he needs the reps .. he needs to learn to deal with the ups and downs of a season (not just a game) .. it's all part of his development as a starter ..
  24. And let's be realistic .. Brohm came into the game when it was already out of hand .. there's zero pressure on him to perform .. but he also put a couple of our receivers in tough situations with his throws ..
  25. Well that's a kick in the nuts. Anderson's biggest impact this year was injuring his brother in practice .. shame .. thought the guy had a bit of a nasty streak that we sorely need on our offensive line.
