Riders sign Japanese League star QB Devin Gardner I was curious what the defence for this was going to be over at Riderfans, so against my better judgment I went and looked and of course, Rotor is shouting down all the folks who dare question this move. "Guy wants to play football bad enough that he's willing to go to Japan and this is a bad move?" ... **** me guys, I didn't know all it takes these days to be a good recruit for the CFL is to just have the desire to play football. Better watch how enthusiastic I am around here about wanting to play touch football, I might end up on the Riders negotiation list.

I'm not in love with a guy who makes 5 tackles as a DB. I'd rather see him make 0. The statistics for Gaitor in week 1 were awful. I don't have them in front of me right now but Reilly completed every pass he threw in Gaitor's direction (I think it was eight) and essentially picked on him all night. Not to mention the PI. Got picked on (as best as MTL could) by Willy too, Willy just sucks. I do like the fact that he had a pick, but if we're going to **** on Duron Carter for getting a pick that wasn't really because he made a good play, then I'm not going to sit here and say that Gaitor is awesome when that's all that happened to me. Picks are great but I'm not giving a guy more credit than is deserved for a look what I found play.

Couture at LG doesn't really worry me ... we have to let these guys play at some point, training wheels off. If he sinks, he sinks. Between Bryant and Goossen, I don't think one bad game from a LG is going to be the end all be all. I hope we see Sayles come off the PR in Gaitor's spot. I don't want Leggett taking on full time HB duties, kick returns and missed field goal returns ... yet

I wouldn't worry about it. He may be NFL bound, but I can't see it being for long. If Bo Levi can't cut it, I can't see Streveler being the one to do it.

Worth mentioning is that the CFL has maximum penalties stipulated in it's CBA, so at most, I think the penalties can be a fine or a one-game suspension currently but this is definitely something that needs to be addressed this offseason with the new CBA. Also - Muamba is an absolute bum.

Nichols will be our starter this year 100% ... next year 75% ... but if the year after comes and Streveler is still doing what he’s doing ... then you have to move on from Nichols. Have to. Can’t expect Streveler to re-up and bypass NFL deals if you’re not going to give him starter dollars. Keep in mind ... this is a guy that turned down legitimate NFL offers to come here. We will have to open the wallet up for that to happen a second time.

My favorite part was after Streveler took that big hit, he got up in the face of one of the Als D (younger Westerman I think) and was talkin smack. Love it.

Really though, this boils down to Chris Jones always thinking he's the smartest guy in the room instead of just making the reasonably intelligent move. Right from year one. I remember saying keeping Durant was foolish in the first year of his tenure in Sask ... should've gotten Trevor Harris, considering Durant had at most a year left (ended up being 0 years left) and it made no sense going into year two of a rebuild with a new QB. Look at their roster. it's bad. A wide receiver playing corner. Dressing 9 defensive linemen, then running play after play where you rush ONE. A rotating audition at RG when your QB is getting killed. Running back position is a revolving door of mentally unstable NFL washouts. Sam Hurl at middle linebacker. No Canadian depth in any real relevant position (I mean come on, Makana Henry?) So many moves that no other staff in the league would allow to happen.

Watching the game right now ... Carter is pitiful on the corner. Absolutely pitiful. You have to question any roster decision where you essentially bench a top 10 receiver in the league in order to get a below replacement level DB on the field. That being said, I wouldn't want that idiot anywhere near our team. Very Muamba-esque in the sense that there's probably a big reason he only plays for losers. Rider D notably better when it's Eguovean (whatever) in the middle with Judge at WIL, as opposed to Hurl in the middle and that alphabet guy at WIL. Another questionable decision - cutting Travis Bond so you can essentially hold an audition at his spot two games into the year? LOL are they seriously rotating Bladek and this American pylon? Wow. Collaros hurt is a shame ... for Collaros. Don't care about Rider Nation after what they had to say about Nichols getting hurt.

Travis Bond was great here, he was going to be great in Saskatchewan and he'll be great in Edmonton. Riderfans, for the most part, is full of idiots and I feel as if I've become a happier person since I stopped going over there to read their insanity.

This is one of those things people are going to use to harp on you about how you make too many threads. This could easily fit in any post game discussion thread. You haven’t even created anything of substance here. You have four sentences, one fact and one thought. I’ll share my thoughts though, since I don’t feel like being the guy who comes in here just to tell you what a grave mistake you’ve made ... our D looked predictable and unfortunately, it was being outcoached that did us in from what I saw ... didn’t catch the whole game, but I saw the end and it’s a classic case of being far too predictable in your schemes and trying to go to the well too many times. Might work against a Streveler ... not against a Reilly

I’ll give them a game or two leeway to gel, but if we waste the immense level of talent we have on D by allowing Richie to be Richie ...

Today is the beginning of the STREVELER ERA Bombers by 370 Streveler goes 5 for 6 for 13 yards and 5 TDs, rushes for 289 yards on 14 carries and the Bombers set a CFL record with 5 different players carrying the ball 10+ times, including Jake Thomas as a fullback.

I mean ... seems pretty fair. Nichols being out could be a huge loss for us that makes it impossible for us to catch the top 2.
