  1. I wouldn't even trade 15 for Ruby. He sucks.
  2. I'm not a big Corvey Irvin guy and I don't expect him to make the team, but one thing I figured is worth mentioning - just because a player doesn't get resigned by his previous team doesn't always mean that team didn't want him. Would your opinion of this signing change if you found out that (as an example) Irvin told Saskatchewan he had no interest in coming back to play for them?
  3. It's the same thing Floyd always does. He looks at news clippings and statistics pages and comes up with an expert opinion about a bunch of guys he's never seen play. You'll notice how three separate posters on this page alone have asked him to share his opinion on Vandervoort as a prospect and all he will tell you is how many yards he put up last season. I won't make assumptions, but I truly doubt he's ever seen Vandervoort play and I'm assuming that he just doesn't like the guy as a prospect because he's got a funny last name or something. The Floyd Favorites always come out in draft season. I don't know about Vandervoort going at the number one spot, however I do know I like him as a prospect. He's got a lot to clean up in his game, as CIS receivers always do, but his natural abilities are some of the best I've seen from a receiver coming out of the CIS in a while. He tracks the ball very well in the air, he's already got the instincts and compete level to go up and fight for the ball in traffic. His route running needs some work, as they usually do, but he's a good instinctual receiver with solid mitts. I'd like to get him but I just don't know if it's in the cards with our draft positioning. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate (unless he bombs the combine) to pick him at #3 if we could somehow work a trade with BC if they were interested in leaping ahead of Saskatchewan. I don't think Saskatchewan and Winnipeg will have their eyes on similar guys, so I could see us moving down to #3 to stay ahead of Hamilton. Maybe something like #1 and #23 for #3, #16 and #24. Who knows.

Garbage show aside from two matches.
  5. I mean ... the easy and logical answer is "at least the length of his first contract" Canadian receivers probably have the lowest production rates of any rookies coming into the CFL. If they're not backups, they play the least desirable spot for a receiver on the field and are asked to contribute more in ways that don't show up on the stat sheet than ways that do. I don't know how anyone can say Richards has failed. He said barely scratched the surface so far. It's just the "cool" thing to harp on the guy.
  6. Don't always agree with Eric from Bomber Buzz, but I think he pretty much nailed it on that mock draft.
  7. He's going to be in the discussion for our first overall pick if he shows well at the combine, not a late round pick.
  8. I'm still so confused about how the Bombers are managing to bring in Paul Boudreau. He must just be looking for an "easier" pace to the season at his age. Easily capable of getting work in the NFL.
  9. He definitely did fall out of the rotation last year. But I'd be pretty happy with him and Thomas as a combination locking down one DT spot.
  10. I haven't really thought much about this yet but SIGN EDDIE UP.
  11. Yeah PBJ was on our staff last year. No doubt that's the connection.
  12. Good move, I still like Euclid. However I definitely like Nevis better.
  13. Not a bad look at the roster, but let's be realistic. There's going to be at least three guys, whether it be recruits from down south or through the draft, that are on the team week 1.
  14. Part of me wants to just adopt the same approach they do over there. They always throw out the "if we acted like this on your forum, we would've been gone long ago" nonsense. Then I look at how we still allow folks like Kluch to continue posting and think ... boy, are they really that unaware? As much as I like Gov and I can't even blame him for "allowing it", what was formerly a pretty good place to talk about football has fallen by the wayside and become overrun by idiots like Rotor and his little puppet RAJ. So many characters on that forum, it's essentially become a cesspool of inbred children's toys with only four programmable phrases that can be spit out at a time: "#1990!", "Mulberry bush", "Keep 'em comin, Jonesy!" and "hey, hands off my sister, she's mine!"
  15. Short and simple answer: not the kind of cost/performance ratio we wanted to invest into a 3rd string QB.
  16. I don't know why people think just because someone is "x" height and "y" weight, they're suddenly capable of playing a different position that requires an entirely different skill set and responsibility level. It confuses me, because it seems like people only do this with defensive players as if that makes it make more sense. Let's try it with some other examples. "If Chris Normand could put on 10 pounds, he's pretty fast, he could probably play DE!" "Ian Wild is the same size as Andrew Harris, just a little taller, maybe he could play RB as a backup" "Addison Richards has all the measurables, maybe he'd make a good receiver!"
  17. Surprised Cory Greenwood is still on the market. If there's a Canadian depth piece I'd like to have, it's him.
  18. Personally, I think Drew Tate sucks. And his sideline demeanor makes 2015 Matt Nichols look friendly.
  19. I said as soon as Chris Jones was hired that the worst thing he could do is keep Darian Durant if he did not view him as the future of the franchise, for at least the length of Jones' initial three year deal. If he didn't want to roll with Durant, it was incredibly foolish to burn his first year (and his grace period with the fanbase) on a quarterback he had no intentions of keeping, especially if they were going to suck anyways which Jones pretty much guaranteed with his nuclear approach to roster building. Rider fans told me it was bad optics to cut ties with Durant coming off injury, but to me, it's worse optics to cut ties this year and basically declare 2016 an entire waste of a season. Seriously, it may have had the makeup of a front office rebuild, but on the field, it was a burnt year. Nothing was accomplished. Not a single QB on the roster currently got any meaningful time to develop last year and they go into 2017 (the inaugural year of their new stadium) without an evident plan at the QB position. Sure, they have a great contingent of receivers. Roosevelt is probably the best receiver in the league and if his head was on straight, Duron could be in the conversation too. I wholeheartedly predict Duron does not go the whole year without becoming a problem though, because he's not going to be the #1 guy in Riderville as long as Rosy is there. I also have no idea how they're going to get all these other guys on the field, unless it comes at the sacrifice of playing time for guys like Holley and Edwards, which I encourage. They're essentially starting over in 2017 and even with an improved (we'll see) offensive line, the way they've built their roster is going to allow teams to essentially ignore the run game and pressure whatever QB they're able to put out there. Really, the only way they can save themselves in this scenario is by acquiring James Franklin, otherwise they're going to be in trouble.
  20. Jeffcoat has my vote for potential DI in the role of Shayon Green last year. He's a guy that I think is going to benefit strongly from the Canadian rules. Very surprised (pleasantly) to see this level of recruit at the DE spot from Walters.
  21. I have to be honest, mbrg might be my favorite poster here.
  22. lol this is going to send him back out on the ledge, he was pretty adamant DLF was the one guy he DIDN'T want.
  23. Cameron Marshall to Saskatchewan Pete Dyakowski and Jeff Fuller to Toronto
  24. Didn't realize he actually played 11 games as a backup with Hamilton last year. Glad he's in with us now, he's got a good shot at being a starter here. Just needs an opportunity.
