That's not what you meant and we both know it. -

Calling it the Hurl defense is insinuating it's a defensive statement I made, when in reality it's just the truth. If you're going to sit here and try to argue with me that every guy on special teams coverage is assigned the same job (to make the tackle), that's narrow minded and unintelligent. Waggoner didn't play a position on teams that was primarily responsible for tackling the ball carrier. It's not an opinion, it's not a defense, it's a fact. Your inability to want to address it and simply throw out terms like "the Hurl defense" really doesn't contribute anything. -

I never said he's really good. I never suggested anything about his abilities whatsoever, but as was predicted, you're just going to completely ignore everything thrown at you as far as actual football discussion. What's the point of discussing football if you don't want to actually discuss football? You're just going in circles complaining. -

I know the likelihood of you scoffing at this is high, but I just wanted to bring up the fact that he didn't play a position on special teams that is meant to be making tackles. He was primarily playing what I'd call, for lack of a better term, the L5 spot on kick coverage and really the only time he'd be doing anything other than lane contain in that role is if the gunner blows a tackle and there's an opening down the sideline. Not every player on ST is out there to make the tackle. What you're doing is similar to accusing the offensive guard of being no good because he didn't get enough touchdowns. -

To say that is ridiculous, if you ask me. What you're really trying to say is "his second round drafting has been poor", which I'd tend to agree with. But considering it's been two drafts, I'm not sure how you expect to really measure his success in the later draft rounds. Derek Jones as a fourth rounder is probably capable enough to start in the same role as Bucknor at this point - that alone makes his later round drafting a success to me. -

Considering we know for a fact his first choices for OC/DC were Jason Maas and Rich Stubler, I'm not going out of my way to bash him for his preference in assistants yet. I'd like to really see what O'Shea does now that he has something to work with. This staff (on paper) is solid. The talent (on paper) is the best we've had yet. If Drew stays healthy, there are zero excuses if this isn't a playoff team. -

I do, but I won't bother getting into it because I know you won't buy into anything related to that anyways without proof. -

You don't really know how accountable he holds players. I've been critical of him hanging onto Kuale as well, but that's one instance and it was two years ago. Hurl wasn't as bad as everyone thinks, although he is a popular whipping boy. We'll see where he fits in this year. -

Nothing in this piece really says any of that. -
So many complaints, zero reports.

Good to hear. It seems like it should be relatively easy stuff to grasp too. I remember last year I went to grab my dad a bottled drink, hot dog and fries. I paid and the girl immediately handed me my drink and hot dog and after about a 5 minute wait for the fries, I asked her if she could put it back and give me product that hadn't been out of the cooler/warmer and she looked at me like I had sprouted a third eye. Simple things like that. It also surprises me how they don't have the buns prepped in advance if they're waiting on meat. So many times I see them waiting for burgers to be done, but they don't bother to prep the buns with whatever goes on them until they have the burger ready to go. That seems counter productive as well.

I don't care if the food sucks, but I'd like to see it suck less which could easily be accomplished just by having food services staff that had a clue.

I'm really surprised both got the axe. I figured Turner for sure, little surprised it wasn't a "one or the other" situation.
-
I don't know if I'd want to trade up, to be honest. I don't think I'd give up 9/10 for 1.
-
I thought so too and so did Dunk in his first mock of the season, but Timmis had a bad combine.

http://www.cfl.ca/2016/03/22/2016-cfl-mock-draft-2-0-coutures-stock-skyrockets/ 1. Saskatchewan - OL Josiah St. John (Oklahoma) 2. Montreal - OL Charles Vaillancourt (Laval) 3. BC - OL Michael Couture (SFU) 4. Toronto - OL Jason Lauzon-Seguin (Laval) 5. Hamilton - REC Brian Jones (Acadia) 6. Calgary - OL Philippe Gagnon (Laval) 7. Ottawa - OL Roman Grozman (Concordia) 8. Edmonton - DB Anthony Thompson (Southern Illinois) 9. Winnipeg - OL Brandon Revenberg (Grand Valley State) Can't say I much agree with many of his predictions on this one, but I will concede that he seeks out the advice and input of a lot of executives when he puts this together, so it's not coming out of nowhere. 7 OL in the first round just doesn't seem likely to me. I get why he dropped Colquhoun, Corney and Smith but I'm curious why Dillon Guy fell as well. Either way, if that's the way it shakes down I'd sure love to see us pick Loffler at #10

I think these two put us over by two now.

Classic TUP. I'm just going to see my way out of this conversation, I don't feel like discussing anything with someone who doesn't actually want to discuss it.
-
No matter the intent, when the approach to it is "the big bad NHL made us do this, even though they knew it was bad", it comes across as whining, not an effort to educate and create awareness.
-
Perfect - two examples of complaining. No offense to the late Derek Boogaard or his family, but if "the NHL knew, or should have known" then so should have Boogaard. It's not exactly breaking news that getting punched in the head repeatedly can have a negative effect on a person.
-
There are former players whining and complaining, and there are former players speaking out to try and have a positive impact. I never stated otherwise. I only have a problem with one of those. The problem is, there are far more complainers.

Fernie has real good beers, I forget what it's called for sure now but they had a Rockpile Red IPA or something like that? Delicious.
-
I never said I would say no and walk away. I'm just saying I wouldn't ***** about it and blame others for my decision after the fact.

These fighters took on these roles largely because they willingly stepped up to accept them in the first place. It's not as if they were first round draft picks who mistakenly got assigned goon roles on their first day of training camp - these are the fringe guys who did what they needed to do to carve out a NHL career, they accepted the risks and felt that in the moment, it was worth it. Don't complain about it now. If you didn't like it, you shouldn't have done it. It's not as if they can realistically expect people to believe they didn't know the risks of getting punched in the head.
