I think these two put us over by two now.
-
Classic TUP. I'm just going to see my way out of this conversation, I don't feel like discussing anything with someone who doesn't actually want to discuss it.
-
No matter the intent, when the approach to it is "the big bad NHL made us do this, even though they knew it was bad", it comes across as whining, not an effort to educate and create awareness.
-
Perfect - two examples of complaining. No offense to the late Derek Boogaard or his family, but if "the NHL knew, or should have known" then so should have Boogaard. It's not exactly breaking news that getting punched in the head repeatedly can have a negative effect on a person.
-
There are former players whining and complaining, and there are former players speaking out to try and have a positive impact. I never stated otherwise. I only have a problem with one of those. The problem is, there are far more complainers.

Fernie has real good beers, I forget what it's called for sure now but they had a Rockpile Red IPA or something like that? Delicious.

I never said I would say no and walk away. I'm just saying I wouldn't ***** about it and blame others for my decision after the fact.

These fighters took on these roles largely because they willingly stepped up to accept them in the first place. It's not as if they were first round draft picks who mistakenly got assigned goon roles on their first day of training camp - these are the fringe guys who did what they needed to do to carve out a NHL career, they accepted the risks and felt that in the moment, it was worth it. Don't complain about it now. If you didn't like it, you shouldn't have done it. It's not as if they can realistically expect people to believe they didn't know the risks of getting punched in the head.

Gotta imagine Johnny Patrick is going to be in the running for Demond's open spot.
-
The fact that an Etcheverry scheme couldn't fit a player like Bass in says a lot about Etch. Then again ... how did Ottawa, Saskatchewan and Edmonton all pass on this guy too?
-
4 goals for Connor. Wow.
-
Interesting, I had no idea. That changes things.

Thought that was Anderson
-
he wasn't unhealthy last year?

I'm of the mindset that it can be detrimental to have your Canadians all stacked on the DL like that. I'd rather rotate Laing in if we had him, not start him.
-
I can't see how we really have any questions about the DL - this is the most solid our DL has been in forever. I guess if you have reservations about the one rush end spot, but I'm pretty happy with Justin Cole myself. Our D (on paper) actually looks incredibly strong and camp hasn't even broken yet. OL still a concern for me, that's about it - but that IS a big one.

had a moment to look it up this is the guy I was thinking of definitely my favorite receiving prospect Walters has ever brought in
-
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I also remember this guy from when he was with the Bengals. I'll look it up after work unless somebody else wants to but I'm pretty sure he's got potential to be the deep ball threat we've been needing. This could be the guy to push Denmark out, if it's who I'm thinking of. There was some guy on the Bengals who averaged something ridiculous like 50 or 60 yards on all his touchdown catches in college. Total YAC monster. I think that's this guy.
-
He definitely wins the award for strangest looking guy we've signed this offseason.
-
I didn't insult you. Unless of course, you're implying you insulted Iso because all I said was that you do the exact same thing you were accusing him of.
-
If we're going to go the route of cliché phrases, I'll go with "it's like talking to a wall"
-
Well, this seems to be going nowhere as usual.

There's a difference between arguing facts and arguing opinions. It seems like when it boils down to discussing opinions, you choose to believe yours as fact. You make a comment right at the end of your post about needing to pretend to be stupid about a subject you're knowledgeable about - that kind of says it all - just because you're knowledgeable doesn't mean you're the only one around with a valid opinion. Opinions don't always have to be right or wrong - and trust me, you don't need to tell me of all people about the concept of someone having an opinion that is not justifiable. But not every opinion fits into that mold. If someone says "I think X could've happened if not for Y", you're more than welcome to say "I don't agree" but you tend to lean more into the "you're flat out wrong" category. And well ... if you think it's rare for you to get worked up ... I guess you are just a naturally aggressive person because the manner in which you approach a lot of discussions is very hostile and if that's not you getting worked up, I frankly don't know what else to call it.
-
This is kind of more or less what you do too, man. It's really the main reason I don't post in the general discussion forum much, truth be told.
